I want to know if anyone here is old enough to remember this episode when it premiered. Bubblestand premiered on July 17, 1999
i was 4 (days) old, so no, i do not recall such a premiere. i watched spongebob pretty early though, like 2003 or 2004.
Same, I was a little less than a year old when it premiered, so I obviously didn’t see it then. But I also probably first saw the show around 2002 or 2003. I swear Bubble Stand was the first episode of SpongeBob I saw.

The dream episode is the comfiest one
I fricking hated it back then. Thought everyone was annoying. I used to zap to any other channel when this was on. I rediscovered it a good decade later as a teenager and was blown away by its relaxing atmosphere and clever writing.
Season 1 in general is really good at capturing a calming atmosphere that no season since has been able to capture imo

It always feels strange to me that this is the first plankton episode. You'd think sneaking into sponebob's head and hijacking his brain would be something they'd come up with later on

As shitty as the actual special was, a promo for Atlantis Squarepantis had a jingle about it premiering at "Monday at 9:00" which is burned into my memory to this day for some reason (the specific date was Monday November 12, 2007 at 9:00AM)
While the promo for the first airing of the show was in the tune of Camptown Races, the promo advertising the shows official premiere (as in, the show airing regularly) began with the entirety of the shows theme song
About 2002, when I was 11 & my family had regular access to cable TV.
Not sure about this specific episode, but I definitely remember the first time I saw Spongebob back around that time.
