I can't remember if he did but he certainly went along with the shadow boss plan

      elaborate

      >helps tony over junior despite junior being official boss in S1
      >talked shit about tony wearing shorts to carmine in S3
      >the whole ginny arc
      >being the secret driver in the first NY Jersey split regarding the HUD scam
      >being an insecure frick and needing to clip everyone who you think might have heard someone who knew a guy who made fun of his fatass wife in order to keep fear and discipline
      >trying to get tony to take out carmine at a time when tony would obviously get blamed for the hit and his own power would increase tremendously
      >whacking little carmine's prostitute lorraine caluzzo to start a war (seriously, a woman) and then whacking a bunch of capos
Really the only thing he was "pragmatic" about was pretending to agree with Tony on the HUD cut but if you read between the lines it's obvious he's playing Tony and fully intends to double cross him

Frick, what a stupid death. Lorraine was a very interesting character and would have been a great addition in this italian sausage fest of a show. They did her dirty

who the frick else could become boss of the NJ family? 2 of 4 captains were a rat, Albert Barese? He goes to jail 1 episode later. Junior and Tony were the only suitable bosses de-facto bosses.

Carmine was the only competent boss, which is why he died of old age in freedom. The others all had a chip on their shoulders and fricked things up as a result.

No it wasn't. The biggest problem was Tony being a nepotistic frick who had a soft spot for his moron cousins, Chrissy and that animal Blundetto.

Yeah, tony should have been able to take Phil out by the end of 6a, Sack gets out of Prison on compassionate furlough or whatever the frick, becomes final surprise boss, betraying tony. Pottery.

I mean whacking carmine was a high risk move and tony had hardly anything to get by it so refusing was the right to do. Tony's fate was sealed when he agreed to whack rusty, he basically did it out of friendship and that led to phil becoming boss

Rusty never wanted the job. He was like Sil.
            >who still hated tony
And why is that? Tony should have done the deed and handing Tony B. And he should have whacked Vito.

              Anonymous

rusty would have tried to have someone else become boss like he did with carmine jr., either way he was on friendly terms with tony so he wouldn't have gone out of his way to wage war against new jersey

                >he was on friendly terms with tony
No, he wasn't. He was friends with Little Carmine, not Rusty.

At the end of the day, every problem stemmed from Tony's terrible leadership and his lack of makings required in a varsity athlete.

Staying neutral with New York was Tony’s biggest mistake. Should have put John in his place as number two and backed carmine jr. To the teeth. The last two seasons can basically be called the downfall of Tony soprano.
