If Doug made his own country and armed Channel Awesome with real guns would you be worried?
Considering the funniest part of the "Change the Channel" leaks was learning Doug once managed to pepper spray himself? No, not at all.
I'd defect as soon as I could
>armed Channel Awesome with real guns
The population would be halved in under a month via negligent discharges.
I got the linkara theme song stuck in my head
*Intro*
WELCOME TO ATOP THE 4TH WALL
WHERE BAD COMICS BURN!
AAAAAAAAAAAH BUILD THAT WALL!!!
Considering this in the Criterion collection, Kickassia ranks pretty well
Still seething your asteroid got BTFO Satan?
Peak early 2000's internet atheist content. All these guys that thought they were so brilliant are penniless or trooned out.
Kickassia (2010, Walker)
True art brut
i always found it interesting how they never really tried to hide the fact most of the filming was done in Doug's gaudy little ranch home. like they had some green screen shit and then it's back to mom's horribly decorated living room. it's like no one thought "oh just filming in this horribly painted hallway with no particular angle or framing in mind is fine". there's tongue in cheek sure.... but why not at least try for a bit of effort?
Huh? Most of the filming was done at the Molossia guy's house and whatever hotel the whole cast was staying at
These threads attract idiots that bought into whatever morons "video essay" they got all their info from. Pay them no heed
Slightly off-topic but I love the hypocrisy of video essays about Doug. There's something about youtubers who make garbage content calling out Doug for being a youtuber who creates garbage content that I find funny.
At this point I don't know what anyone really expects Doug to do, like he's tried plenty of other businesses and spinoffs and the only thing that sticks is Nostalgia Critic, and it pays the bills so that's probably what he's going to keep on doing, I mean why would he stop?
He's still around and still doing the Molassia thing as a silly sort of hobby, he still puts out monthly newsletters and stuff about the affairs of his "nation" it's basically a dressed up version of those family websites boomers used to make in the 2000s. He seems like a happy guy with a loving family.
It was truly the beginning of the current age of streamer react cannibalism.
They don't even talk about other people anymore they talk about people talking about other people.
oaky, it was someone else's house. my point still stands
Is this the movie where everyone but Linkara and Doug got some sexual service from Lindsay?
Shoot: No that never happened you are dumb for even considering that to be true
Kayfabe: Yes
Hookerverse: Other way around hombre
Kickassia in 4k
In 2023, the film was considered "culturally, historically, or aesthetically" significant by the U.S. Library of Congress and was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.
Doug never really did anything wrong but people treat him like he's hitler
"people" is stretching it. They're scum that thought the world owed them fame and success and were enraged that this filthy uneducated son of a sailor got what they thought was rightfully theirs.
That's what makes him based. People like him and Mike Matei were pioneers of early Youtube and now all of these newbies and zoomers seethe over their very existence since they were never there to epxerience the magic.
Yeah, he gets way too much hate. His sketches are a little cringy, but I quite like the guy.
It's bandwagoning zoomers that saw the jokes Chris O'Neil made about him and they ran with it without understanding the context and it spiraled out of control. They tried to find *anything* to cancel him too and they got nothing. Even that The Wall review, most of the people ranting about it thought he was shitting on the band.
Nah it was the 'Change the Chanel' nonsense from a few years ago. That's got nothing to do with Oney. If anything Chris has given Doug something of a new, semi-ironic following.
That's famous here but that's not famous with normies. Change the Channel also had nothing to do with Doug, couldn't find one thing. 2.2m views is much more influential.
Also,
>I was 24 but I was mentally 14!!! He's a pedophile!
Here's the first thing you see when looking for him.
>Change the Channel also had nothing to do with Doug, couldn't find one thing
Wrong. Completely wrong. Look harder.
Again, you're a total echochamber idiot. I just posted proof above you. You want to go further literally every complaint about doug is
>HE SHIT ON PINK FLOYD?
>A BAT CREDIT CARD?
>KICKASSIA WAS CRINGE?
All from oneyplays.
Who the frick is referencing Change the Channel, where he isn't blamed for anything in the first place you fricking tourist. It was all about some manager and israelite wario. Seriously, who's talking about it recently and getting 2.2m and apparently lying about it too since it WASN'T ABOUT DOUG AT ALL
>you're a total echochamber idiot
>All from oneyplays.

Yeah, nothing in here about Doug at all
For the record most of the change the channel stuff isn't actually damning towards Doug at all. I mean, it confirms he's an incompetent sperg but, y'know, no shit. Have you not seen his videos?
Not as good as Suburban Knights but better than To Boldly Flee
Incredibly rewatchable
Envision the aroma
I wonder what happened to this dude after the movie. Did he ever said what did he thought about it?
he doesn't think about TGWTG at all
Roger Ebert thought it was a modern classic
>The year 2010 began and ended with cries of pain. It began with Ingmar Bergman's Cries and Whispers, and it closed with Doug Walker's Kickassia. Both films are about the weather of the human soul, and no two films could be more different.
lmao
One of his best reviews. It's up there with his review of Friday the 13th Part 2:
?t=22
I've never really had an opinion on these two but maybe I'll give them a shot. It was incredibly refreshing to see reviewers that are fair about what kind of a movie that a movie is 'trying' to be and they hold it to those standards instead of acting like it's only good if it's an arthouse piece.
That's a blatant edit, Noddy. They fricking hated it in the real review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMqG1ut1LB8
Oh, kek. Yeah, Literally never seen anything of them before so it absolutely got me.
>If movies are, among other things, opportunities for escapism, then "Kickassia" is one of the most powerful ever made.
lmao
>Bergman's exploration of the lines of love and conflict within the family of a woman dying of cancer was a film that asked important questions about faith and death, and was not afraid to admit there might not be any answers.
>Walker's film is about a group of autists attempting to establish their own county. Walker has the answers.
ayo
Which was more devastating for its creator’s reputation: Nostalgia Critic’s The Wall, or A Movie Making Nerd by James Rolfe?
A widely mocked youtube video or a book 50 superfans read?
The Nerd movie was a bigger disaster tbh
The Nerd movie changed a lot. First it was Mike stepping up to make videos by himself while James was busy, and revealing himself to be an absolute manchild with a 10 year old sense of humor. The movie was bad and James’ biggest fans had to pretend to like it. Now he’s a balding old man with his equipment duck taped to his ceiling and he has to film nerd episodes with one static camera angle because he can’t be bothered to move stuff around. The non-AVGN videos, which used to be creative and passionate, are now just James reading Wikipedia articles so he can get in the number of ad reads per year he’s supposed to.
Mike was the true Nerd
James' book will be more damaging over time as more and more people wake up to what a lazy, narcissistic pos he is
Both are absolute gems and if you don't see that then I'm sorry, you got filtered hard.
I didn't read the book, give me a rundown
He just talked about what a gay you are and how he banged your prostitute mom
Some highlights:
>James devotes a chapter to what he did on 9/11. It’s not anything different than what anyone else did on 9/11.
>He explains how he got in trouble in his special ed school because he didn’t tell the bus drivers that he got a ride from someone else that day, and one of the bus drivers said a curse word in frustration. Then James kicked a window in his school out of anger.
>He tells the story of getting kicked out of his film school for making a “documentary” of his roommates trashing their dorm. Then James “attempted suicide” while on a beach trip with his parents by trying to drown himself, before realizing that he had a choice between game over and continue, and he chose continue.
>He refers to Mike Matei as “Matei” throughout the entire book for some reason.
>9/11 story
Does he think this is 2003? Nobody cares where you were on 9/11 anymore
>documentary of thrashing his room
why would he do this
>tried to kill himself over film school
That's extraordinarily lame
>Matei
Does he think people will remember Mike Matei more than him to the point a professional last name basis needs to be established?
of thrashing his room
>why would he do this
He didn’t seem to understand what’s wrong with it. When told to apologize, the famous quote from the book is “Apologize for what? For being a filmmaker?”
that's some developmental problems right there, frankly embarrassing.
>“Apologize for what? For being a filmmaker?”
Reminds me of when Baldwin shot that person and lots of people were trying to say it was okay because it happened while filming a movie and wasn't intentional, like 'filming a movie' invalidates laws.
It baffles me how people are as stupid as you are.
>do scene where you need to shoot a gun towards the camera, where everyone is standing
>armorer, who's responsible for this weapon, somehow puts a real bullet in there
>do your scene
>somehow YOU ARE the murderer
It's just a level of logic leaping I just can't understand.
>Manslaughter doesn't count if you did it for a movie.
He was the one that pulled the trigger of his own free will. It's no more simple than that. And fun fact, Baldwin was also a producer so even if you try to say someone else is at fault, he still holds the ultimate responsibility for hiring decisions and set safety.
It's no more simple than that and it's also a lot less simple than that.
The first rule of gun safety is to treat every firearm like it's loaded
Its the responsibility of the person holding the gun to load the gun, you're not supposed to hand a loaded gun to someone. It's standard protocol for the first person to open the action and show it's clear before handing it over, then the person it is handed to opens the action and double checks for themselves that it is clear. Even as far as it being a prop and some producer demanding it not go through this protocol because they didn't trust the actor, it's still on Baldwin for no checking the gun when he received it.
Reckless negligence that lead to the death of another person. Pretty sure that's text-book manslaughter. So surely the man who did this was put away?
They needed Seagal there:
>Nobody cares where you were on 9/11 anymore
Yeah now people talk about where they were on Jan 6th.
>He refers to Mike Matei as “Matei” throughout the entire book for some reason.
Kek, hilarious. I'm sure he just had another friend named Mike so he started calling MM Matei to differentiate them, but it's far funnier to think he's terrified of Mike and refers to him by his last name as a sign of superiority and respect. I'm not looking them up, but I know there are a couple clips of James flinching when Mike moves because people liked to pretend he was a psychopath behind the scenes.
pack of spastics
Dead Meat is by far the best movie youtube channel.
if i ever won the powerball, i actually would create a film preservation company for kickassia-level films
Why does that one guy have a Northwest Front sash on?
molossian flag
Film Brain is a good guy. Im not Film Brain btw
What was the most kino time for YouTube?
I expected Internet Aristocrat somewhere in there
He is in there, Jim81Jim
For me it's
>OG: AVGN (pre-movie), ProtonJon, CGR, Chad, Retsuprae (pre-2014), Navgtr, Chugga (pre-2015), Jim, Mike Matei, Larry Bundy Jr
>Mainstream: Vinny (pre-2018), RLM (pre-2019), SOG (creepypasta and current eras)
>Drama: Frank, Sargon (post-2020)
>Modern: Etika (pre-2019, when he went insane), Emp
Some others are OK, the rest go to the blender including most of TGWTG, DiFranco, AA, Dunkey, EDP, Jacksepticeye, PedoBro, horsefricker, PBG, Danger Dolan, iCuckz, RiceGum, Leafy, GAUA and at least 70% of the modern "tubers".
It's Mr Metokur you DEADNAMER!
2005-2010 is pure soul.
RIP Emer
>not including the king
>Everyone in this picture thought they were going to become huge Movie Stars after this film was released.
this label used to mean something. but in the past 10 or so years they have FULLY embrased the Black personisraelite gay troony aids desease.
the worst part is that they keep shitting out these modern day contemporary Black personisraelite shit drivel turds, yet won't reprint classics from their catalogue that have been OOP for some time.
I hope the eat shit and die.
I always say it would be a better fit for their niche Eclipse boxsets. Make a "Glory Days of Channel Awesome" boxset with the 3 Nostalgia Critic movies, the Linkara movie, and maybe one of those dumb Cinema Snob things or something.
IT'S NOT FRICKING FAIR
what the frick is Kickassia, Suburban Knights and TBF not on Letterboxd?
they come and go.
how are his movies not on letterboxd but uno:the movie from achievement hunter is
Why the frick isn't Suburban Knights on Criterion but Kickassia is?
Unironically what made Kickassia so much better than all the other Channel Awesome movies?
Suburban Knights just felt like dorks playing with their camcorder and costumes they bought from Party City for Halloween last year and To Boldly Flee was trying too hard to be serious as "LE DEATH OF LE NOSTALGIA CRITIC???"
Kickassia is properly in the middle of being more competent but still on-brand and not up its own ass.
Surprised they didn't go with the iconic shot of Doug for the cover. Missed opportunity by Criterion
forgot pic
I would buy that so fast it's not even funny.
Sup Corey
OneyPlays
how did they get feminist Lindsay to fly out to these locations and pretend to be an unfunny bimbo caricature for several days on end in all 3 movies?
Lindsay used to be more chill. The combination of internet feminism going full moron in the early 2010s and having to work with Doug Walker for several years did a number on her
Lindsay was always a part of the circles that turned into what you're talking about. The kind you'd find in Harry Potter forums arguing about Obama.
You're partially right, if you find her old blog you can see she was more chill compared to mid/late 2010s Lindsay
They told her she could make fun of Sarah Palin
Because she was a nobody before winning ThatGuy's Nostalgia Chick contest. Also she's a loose feminist so she likely sucked all the guys off behind the scenes.
is she afraid of his power?
So he jerks off a lot?
Bob might be my least favorite person in the world.
So is this just Moviebob saying he's an orgy kinda guy?
The frick does he even mean?
Majestic. What an absolute fricking geezer.
She was less c**ty back then.
Doug has a sense of humor about it all
Does the Channel Awesome network still just have three people?
yeah, I don't know if Brad's still around
I want to frick that cat thing
>based brad talking about how with the upcoming birth hes gonna have less time for everything else
>releases two double feature episodes back to back
I don't get it. Wouldn't having 2 extra episodes in the can for later on be better for his workflow? Same deal with the year in reviews, they could be broken into monthly parts and then uploaded as a compilation at the end.
