      RLM

      Red Letter Media

Ironically, so many of their new videos has absolutely nothing to do with movies that is probably true. RLM has far too many fanboys but I'm not sure if that's worse than the weirdos that used to be in to them back in the day.

Only one of these (shitting on Youtube doesn't count) isn't about movies/TV. Even then only Star Trek is TV.

Don't be daft. Anon is obviously referring to how they drift off into conversations unrelated about the movies the videos are labeled about. People who actually watch their videos would admit that they don't watch them to hear about whatever movie, they watch to hear the guys be themselves.

The tangents are usually about movies or the business of making movies. The only time those engulfed a video was the Star Wars Holiday Special where they were trying to avoid talking about it as much as possible, which was the joke.

The irony of this dude saying this shit with his giant toy collection and his superhero shirt is hilarious.

            That too, is the joke.

Mindless hype yes, is literally what the mildly handsome nerd is saying, don't ask questions about the product or how good it is, just get excited for no reason and wait for the next product. Hype itself is already moronic and will ruin plenty of good things for you, people get more hyped for a brand and actual products than the movie, nerd crew kinda made fun of that shit and the corporate side of nerd culture.

Basically what happened with Skate culture and corporative skate, the difference is that back when you also had less annoying females using as a crutch for personality and to try to get attention by bottom feeding that only makes the thing even worse.

One Piece and Star Wars aren't really comparable. One Piece is more akin to Simpsons in terms of being an individual ongoing series that's been going on for ages. Meanwhile Star Wars or Marvel are made up of lots of semi-discrete movies/series under a big franchise. More comparable to maybe Fate or something.
And of course there's people who turn up their nose at Star Wars while they gobble up Fateshit and vice versa. In either case, they're plebs.

RLM has an extreme Star Trek bias, it's honestly amazing to me they even did videos about Star Wars in the first place. They get ultra-defensive of the series but let other shit slide in other franchises without a problem, I think the Prequels were just so offensively bad even they couldn't ignore it. I realized it when they gave the Hobbit movies a ton of slack and Mike even said he liked them, outside of some minor parts mostly in the first movie those movies are fricking dogshit.

"Nerd" media redditors, which is who they're making fun of.

People whose entire personality is being the guy who likes Marvel stuff and getting hyped up for the new Star Wars, and talking about the latest streaming exclusive mini-series. They don't really read comics or books and they don't care about movies unless they're part of a cinematic universe. Right now all of them are seething because nerd shit is going out of style. Normalgays don't care about capeshit movies as much. The streaming series that keep coming out are so bad that no one is watching them.

The clout these homosexuals thought they had for being really into the new product was imaginary and now being a 30-40 year old manchild who entire life revolves around seeing the latest Captain Zappy and the Multiverse of Vagness movie is back to being the sort of thing that makes people laugh at them for, instead of being a thing that everyone is sort of into, like they were when Infinity War/Endgame was happening.

      Anonymous

The whole nerd schtick picked up steam from Bing Bang Theory and gained traction through the 2010s before peaking and falling 2020. The tech industry in recent years has given people a new reason to hate nerds again while capeshit has been beaten to death by nepo-hires who fricked it up. Now nearly half of cape fans are millennials and they've aged just as well as someone would expect.

I don’t get it. Are you talking about AI? Explain it to a moron.

The AI job apocalypse is still in the works and people are paranoid of losing their jobs. Also the WGA strikes and the thought of having Ai-generated media has rubbed creatives the wrong way obviously. So artsy people have basically turned their backs on tech and went from, "I fricking love science", to going full Ted K. unabomber.
Also cryptoscams and "the metaverse" which a lot of investors (usually middle class and up) lost a lot of money in. The returns capeshit has had recently has left a bad taste in investor's mouths, too.

            Anonymous

Is that what the WGA strikes are about? I saw completely unrelated lists of demands that weren’t even talking about Ai related to that and was confused as hell what it was even about.

They've had shit pay and benefits for awhile now and studios have tried to use their likeness with AI generation w/o compensation. The writing is on the wall though that the studios aren't going to give in and will push AI further.
