I'd also recommend reading Out of the Silent Planet. It basically spits on the idea that that aliens would have the same assumptions like us, such as their concept of survival.
those Chinsects better take their ass to the BOOK BOARD

They want to come here; over on that board rogue mods unpredictably ban posters and delete threads. Statistically, the whole board will be removed, eventually.
The Netflix one is unironically better paced than the Tencent version, which is just a word for word adaptation. The book has a lot of repetition and drags at some points (inner Mongolia, the video game worlds).
Also Liu Bei guy as Da Shi was a total miss. Benedict Wong is unironically better.
>40 slow emotional scenes of cancer dude in between the plot >Better pacing
It's a monkey paw wish.m It is better paced, but what's better paced WITH, is pure trash
The only thing that's trash is the Auggie scenes. The cancer guy is actually pulled up front from book 3 in a good way. It happens in the same timeline.
Bro, it's only better paced because you are willing to suspend your disbelief on the timeline they are creating and the instant spawning they have, much like Game of Thrones >I'm in Panama, and then I'm with cancerman on the beach at the next scene >I'm on London and then I'm with cancerman on the beach
All the friend group circle through cancerman's beach like it's a fricking videogame HUB, and you have no queue on the time passing by because cancerman says "when I get worse later" and he never got any worse, one day he just falls and that's it
The netflix is possibly the dumbest thing I've ever seen in my life and I've been watching horse shit television for longer than most of you have been alive. Watch the tencent.
Bros, I'm on Episode 5. How the frick did this butthole have the authority to do what he did? Even world leaders don't have that authority.
Only absolute monarchs and dictators can do something like that. Hell, even then those monarchs and dictators can face a revolt from the soldiers if they try this on defenceless civilians.
This is a D&D-caused problem. The power hiearchy is much better described in the chink version and the book. He's also several characters thrown into one.
Wouldn't be surprised if this mofo is gonna have one of the discarded wallfacer's storyline in a future season, if that gets greenlit.
Netflix Wade basically took over the role of Major-General Chang, who leads the Asian branch of an organization that is a global military-intelligence alliance to investigate the scientists deaths and the terrorist organization they uncover, and ultimately the aliens.
Netflix Wade also took over a lot of things done by Da Shi, which is why Shi is just a pointless lackey in the show, instead of having a prominent role like in books.
They also have like a command center and meetings with generals from all the major world pwoers and actual conversations about things, not pulling everything out of Wade's ass.
that's the Netflix show, he doesn't appear in the Chinese version since he's a character from the second and third book
but appears earlier replacing the military council from book 1 basically
The only Chinese show I have watched is Douluo Continent. It was pretty good but Chinese seasons have way too many episodes and are not conducive to binging for me.
The chinese version is unwatchable and I nearly only watch asian movies. I won't watch gaymerican crap so I don't know about that homosexual version. Let me guess, the main character is a woman and her best friend is a gay Black person ?
A fan made an adaptation of the first book using Minecraft. It got really popular and praised for being faithful to the book that the book owners decides to fund them to create an actual animated show but in Minecraft style. It's also the only adaptation that's able to adapt the second book, and gloriously depicted one of the signature scenes of the whole trilogy.
The Sophons provided the specs to the cult and the cult manufactured them.
> The Sophons provided the specs
That's moronic because the whole point of Sophons was to freeze human tech progress, and the entire tool chain to manufacture some uber-tech like that would be a ton of technology transfer, lol.
In the books the VR headsets are just state-of-the-art human tech, the videogame is all human tech, it's even discussed how they trace the ownership of the videogame company that developed it.
Making it le super futuristic mind-reading alien VR just to make morons cum was a fricking shit decision, just like all the others in Netflix's trash.
Also the chink version of the game scenes were so much better. Actually looked like a damn mid-2000s videogame.
Tatiana is initially implied as an alien form but later on we find out she is just another follower. So how did she not show up on cameras and sneak up on people without them seeing her, did the Sophon scrub all digital evidence or make her invisible
this was really dumb
I thought the aliens gave them some kind of nanosuit to enhance physical abilities but when the shooting happened everyone just folded like civilians (which they are supposed to be) and then I completely forgot of that nonsensical scene
They sort of imply she is like the robot Sophon from book 3, which doesn't really make sense since the aliens are not even close enough yet to send anything as complex as a robot. >but they just gave humans the technology!!
Lmao in the books the aliens utterly despise humans and think ETO are just bugs to be squashed as well, they have zero loyalty to their followers and the upper-level members of ETO know this, as they are all suicidal misanthropists who’s #1 goal is cleansing the earth of humans because global warming or some other dumb shit.
>in the books trisolarans utterly despise humans
I suggest you read the books again. Trisolarans have a tremendous respect for humanity and human culture, arts, etc
book 1 readers think trisols despise humanity
book 2-3 readers know trisols respect the frick out of humanity for their art, their culture, their technological advancements, and tons of other shit
you outed yourself as someone that got filtered by book 2s awful pacing.
In book 1, in the 21st century, the trisolarans have zero clue about humanity and are disgusted by them, only WAY later through regular communication do they come to respect humans, but that is after hundred of years of on and off conflict by that point.
the ship slicing scene was better in the western version because they have more experience with illusions and terrorism. the sparks detract from it a lot in the chinese version. also its good vaccine propaganda to make the mexican girl whine about murdering children annoyingly
>good vaccine propaganda to make the mexican girl whine about murdering children
That's the vax prop? Not the "Evans have been finding antivax and anti science campaigns, the foul feind" comment?
ya i noticed that line too. very rich that a guy who wants to save the birds from human overpopulation would be against the deadly ethnically coded bioweapon, but, whatever dude!
Not really, just listen to the audiobook.
Netflix adaptation is so trash they actually omitted a huge chunk of the first book in favor of the 3rd book.
And the 3rd book is SHIT
>people saying the chinese adaption is just a word for word adaption or that it's a true adaption
tencent three body is full of new characters, new plot lines, random literal cutaway gags like it's family guy, in-universe adverts, and stunt casting of famous chinese people - not actors but just random important cultural figureheads.
there's a cutdown that takes the 25 hours of tencent material and condenses it into about 6 hours that is an incredibly faithful adaption of the first book.
you should not try to watch the full tencent version, it's genuinely more awful than the netflix version. but the 6 hour cutdown is fantastic.
The Netflix version is Bio-Leninist progslop that compresses plot and characters for the sake of maximizing Black person girlboss moments and character drama at the expense of actually doing any hard sci-fi. They squashed an entire faction of infighting Trisolarian fifth columnists down into one character (the white b***h with BPD eyes), for what exactly? To fit more gay cancer drama pajeetcuck storyline? It's literally as coherent as Season 8 Game of Thrones, in that they think your brain will turn off and stop noticing if the CGI budget is high enough. Also: the novel series is insufferable to begin with for having one of the worst female characters in anything ever as the main character, but at least she doesn't show up until book 2. The Netslop series introduces her immediately, barely changes her at all despite changing fricking everything else, and then gives her even more of the story and screentime than she should have. D&D despise the viewers.
The Tencent version is Maoist chinkslop that at least attempts to follow the novel and mostly does, but wastes hours and hours of runtime to the Ye Wenjie cultural revolution backstory which is rendered worthless after obvious butchery by Chinese censors. Instead of wanting aliens to come and kill everyone because she got mindbroken by the horrors of communism, she's just a gay eco-terrorist like her Amerimutt boyfriend. It's laughably propagandistic. A Chinese company (the world's #1 polluter and communist dystopia) produced an adaptation that's essentially "uhh... environmentalism bad and communism not that bad actually". There's other elements, too, like the denigration of Western science and history. Mozi is shown to be wrong, but he's depicted as serious, whereas Galileo is a screaming moron and Da Vinci is a gay transvestite, and so on. Also, the Chinese language and culture is disgusting, which makes it an inherently harder watch.
>The Netflix version is Bio-Leninist progslop
please take your anti psychotics
or better yet, have a nice day
no
also, you will never be a woman
>e Wenjie cultural revolution backstory which is rendered worthless after obvious butchery by Chinese censors. Instead of wanting aliens to come and kill everyone because she got mindbroken by the horrors of communism, she's just a gay eco-terrorist like her Amerimutt boyfriend.
You didn't understand her character arc at all. Removing the struggle session hardly changed anything. Her father still died betrayed by her mother and sister. Her motivations are about betrayal by people, and even her becoming the betrayer. It's about humans inherent flaws, not fricking muh commies. Fricking midwits.
Nice try, Chang, but nobody is buying it. The only reason any of that shit happens or makes sense is explicitly because it takes place in Maoist China. Turning your dad over to Red Guards isn't an "inherent human flaw", it's an inherent communist flaw.
>Bio-Leninist progslop
what does this mean?
It's Leninism except you replace class with race/gender. This way, you avoid the infinite dekulakization loop that always terminates communist society, because you don't need to worry about a white man becoming a black woman like you do with proles becoming bourgeois. Ideally, this means you just need to do the one dekulakization (i.e. the white genocide) and then you have your communist utopia. What could go wrong? :^)
>Instead of wanting aliens to come and kill everyone because she got mindbroken by the horrors of communism
But that's exactly what happened, and was pretty much stated to have happened, in the fricking show and it wasn't even subtle. How moronic are you?
It's explicit in every version that isn't the Chinese Tencent version, where it's presented obliquely to the point of diverging from the source material. This is why you have morons making posts like
>e Wenjie cultural revolution backstory which is rendered worthless after obvious butchery by Chinese censors. Instead of wanting aliens to come and kill everyone because she got mindbroken by the horrors of communism, she's just a gay eco-terrorist like her Amerimutt boyfriend.

Additionally the netflixslop has some hilarious contradictions
- Science filled with diversity hires isn't working anymore
- Scorned emotional woman dooms humanity because of her nature
- Eco-leftist morons treat hostile aliens like god the same way they treat pet minorities dooming them
etc...
The chinese writer had some clear chud beliefs and Netflix race swapping made it even chuddier

An alien fleet is on it's way to Earth to invade and conquer and kill all of humanity so they can live on Earth because their planet is stuck in a 'three body problem' - orbiting 3 different stars that make it statistically impossible to predict where the planet will go, only that eventually it will either hit one of the three stars and burn up, or be ejected out into the cosmos and freeze. There were multiple other planets in the star system that have already met that fate, and the aliens are completely aware of that.
The problem is, the aliens can't travel at FTL and don't have some scifi warp gizmo to get them to Earth instantly, so it will take ~400 years.
The invasion plan is more or less announced to the world about 50 years into the 400 years, and the story kicks off there. It's mostly about what the frick humanity does for the next 350 years while their science is broken to try to prepare for the invasion.
>what's even the point of that story? >>It's mostly about what the frick humanity does for the next 350 years while their science is broken to try to prepare for the invasion.
I don't get what sounds moronic about it, but I also enjoy scifi so that might be the key.
It's very cynical, the simplest it could boil down to is contacting aliens is not a good idea because they'd destroy you out of paranoia first and foremost rather than conquering you.
>what's the point of thinking about technology, civilization, history, politics, morality
I don't know man I guess life is all just smoke weed frick and die.

Because despite the overwhelming odds, humanity is quite literally one of the last surviving species at the end of the entire universe in the book series.

Not true. Other species demand all matter be returned to our universe in preparation for the next big bang cycle
2 months ago

Yes, because the heat death of the universe has occurred and there is no longer enough matter remaining in the universe to instigate the big crunch and set off the next universal cycle. because it's the end of the universe and humanity is one of the last surviving races.
i didn't say they were THE SINGLE LAST race. there's still thousands of races left as per the scrolling message in the like 5,000+ languages it took before they saw something human or whatever the number was. but considering what happens to them and when it happens, that's a pretty goddamn massive accomplishment.
It's very cynical, the simplest it could boil down to is contacting aliens is not a good idea because they'd destroy you out of paranoia first and foremost rather than conquering you.
Idk if it’s cynical, it’s pretty positive in terms of be firmly pro-human and showing how individual actions can make massive long term differences.

Yeah and also despite the bleak universe each book always ends optimistically. TBP ended with Wang finding the drive to try and solve the crisis despite the invasion, Dark Forest with Luo Ji optimistic that there may be light in the dark forest eventually, and Death's End with implication that a united society of aliens are seeking help to reunite everyone. Although each sequel would often undo it drastically lol.
I mean let's just say hypothetically somehow Death's End got a sequel, wonder what kind of bullshit will happen.

I am not asking about the details just a rough guidline
Book 1 - scientists are dying and going schizo, turns out its aliens stealthily fricking with us, there's groups of human collaborators with aliens and they invited the aliens to come and conquer us but it'll take their invasion fleet centuries to arrive. It's a detective story, ends with humans getting more intel about the aliens, and aliens revealing their existence to the world.
Book 2 - The whole world sociopolitical structure changes, entire planet becomes an uneasy alliance and all spending stars to get dumped into science, tech, and military, superaccelerating projects to go build space fleet, colonize the solar system and other 'far-out' tech and hare-brained strategies to win against a much superior enemy... within the confines imposed by alien interference and surveillance. Eventually politics and society start falling apart because of factionalizations and disagreements and dumping all money into military, this stuff spans centuries until alien fleet finally arrives then a bunch of shit happens.
Book 3 - Can't even begin to explain this without getting into ton of details and spoilers other than this explores the way the human and alien society interact. A bunch of shit happens over more centuries and then over thousands and millions of years.

Because I'm bored at work:
>Book 1
A series of scientists commiting suicides throughout the world. Investigation finds out that it's because their research has been sabotaged by AI that is sent by aliens that is coming to invade them and will arrive within 400 years (the sabotage was so that humanity wouldn't be able to advance their tech by the time the fleet arrives). And it all started because of a Chinese woman was a victim of Mao Zedong's oppression making her lose hope in humanity and when becoming the first person to contact aliens she tells them to come and she'll aid them.
>Book 2
The world now enters a Crisis Era to figure a way to combat the ayys, they found out that the AI can detect anything except human thoughts so they appointed 4 people to come up with a solution stored only in their brains. 3 of them are high ranking politicians and such, but one of them is just a guy with imaginary girlfriend who had no idea why he was selected. But because of his status he took advantage of it dearly, engaging in lavish lifestyle and even manage to get the government to get him a woman that fits his imagination. Eventually he was forced to work so he came up with a plan and a send a signal to distant star, and then hibernates (humanity at this point are able to make functional cryostasis and it's used a lot in book 3) for 200 years. After waking up seeing as how humanity advanced massively in technology, he witness the first confrontation between the entire space force and the ayys in the form of a single probe the size of a car, which proceeds to annihilate 99% of the fleet. Humanity engages in orgies because of the impending doom. MC finds out that the star he sent a signal has been blown off and contacts the ayys, saying that there are stronger ayys out there and if they didn't cancel the invasion and helps Earth, he'll transmit the signal to their location making them both a target. The ayys comply.

Deaths end is so final idk how they could twist it.
I mean it’s the end of the universe.
Either it’s over and everything died or it resets.
Maybe in the 10D Edenic world they will show Satan fricking it up again.
>what's the point of thinking about technology, civilization, history, politics, morality
I don't know man I guess life is all just smoke weed frick and die.
The core plot point of the story is humanism vs anti-humanism.
the chiense prisoner at the start notifies the aliens because she hates humanity, ETO (alien simp terrorists) are all climate activists and antinatalists and they try to disrupt human defences, these sorts of things continue on until the very end of the universe when it is revealed that human civilization has indeed survived and prospered
>The core plot point of the story is humanism vs anti-humanism.
What a stupidly narrow take. It's about the flaws and virtues of humans, and the complex ways they interact. Every single character does things for some human reason be it a virtue or a flaw, even the "anti-human" ones.
The book is less concerned about characters and more about long term future outcomes.
It’s good if you like that sort of thing, otherwise it’s pretty autistic as the characters are mostly just there to narrate things.
The basic plot is that in the 1960’s a disgruntled woman who’s been de-personed by the communists and kicked out of university to work in inner Mongolia uses a powerful radio-telescope to send a message into space, which is then received by aliens who immediately target the earth for conquest.
However it takes over 200 years for the alien ships to arrive as their max speed, so most of the story takes place in that 200 years of societal change and planning.
Characters from the 21st century continue through the story using cryogenic technology to appear in future events. The story continues basically until the very end of the universe.

In the third book they go into more detail about why the universe is in this state of perpetual cold war. They explain that it used to be 10 dimensional but sometime (before time existed) a “war” or rebellion began which broke the perfect original universe and started this slow degradation towards 0 dimensional collapse.
All the biggest alien empires in the books have been around for countless ages and they are the main reason why this hyper-hostile situation continues to exist.
The book ends with some vague alien group of “caretakers” messaging everyone to return to the old universe from their “bunkers” outside of space so the big-crunch can occur and the universe can reset to peaceful perfection again.
It’s left open-ended if all the bunker pocket universes were closed off or not and if the universe dies to entropy or is able to reset.
The final message for all the races of the universe seems to imply human civilization endured and was successful enough to be recognized.

still if humans have a space force, why not fly away to distant stars?

For the same reasons the aliens don't, they don't have FTL travel. That's why aliens are taking centuries to arrive.
But a big part of the books is the exploration of different social/political/scientific ideas and ideologies, because some believe its best to try to escape, and others stay and fight, and others diplomacy, and others just despair and hedonism.

Some do, this is the main reason humanity survives at all. It’s just controversial because governments don’t want humanity as a whole to give up once some human Ark leaves.
More or less the earth is doomed the instant the woman in 1960 transmits earth’s location, it’s literally only a matter of time until a bigger badder fish than the trisols finds out and destroys them at that point.
In book 3 they even state than some greater alien races were aware of earth and trisol already from that moment onward, but it was too low-priority to worry about immediately.
Even so, the eventual destruction of the solar system is implied to have been sent many centuries prior, as it’s travelling at sub light speed

It is moronic but not unrealistic.
There are a lot of totally moronic decisions made but they are decisions that our actual countries make daily.
Like wanting to fire Luo Ji as defender of the earth because he’s a scary man and “too aggressive” towards the genocidal alien invaders.
>Instead of wanting aliens to come and kill everyone because she got mindbroken by the horrors of communism
But that's exactly what happened, and was pretty much stated to have happened, in the fricking show and it wasn't even subtle. How moronic are you?
Cheng Xin from book 3 is a total moron and I disliked her at first, but honestly I didn’t mind her as much later in the book.
Once you recognize her role is just to be a passive observer of events unfolding then her actions are less of an issue.
If anything her entire story is pretty funny as in the beginning when she goes to the ultra-gay feminized future she proves how worthless these feminine ideals are when they all choose her as their swordholder and she immediately fails.
Really what happens to Earth after the space ship is able to escape is irrelevant as earth is basically doomed either way from the moment it was revealed to ANY outside aliens.
im watching the chinkazoid one rn, its way less gay and i like that it seems to just replicate the book beat for beat
netflix is more entertaining i guess but it is also omega pozzed and very gay. The black UN secretary general made me kek. It's like every corner your turn there is some strong women figure.
>see ants on the ground >bend down and yell at them "you are bugs!" >whip out a whiteboard and start drawing diagrams explaining in great detail how I'm going to invade their ant hill and wipe them out
why did they do this
quite literally to scare the frick out of humans and to flex their superiority and to express just how completely fricked the humans actually are because they're legitimately terrified of humans and the insanely quick technological leaps they've accomplished
>oroginal cast was majority asian men >new cast only has one (1) single asian man and his moronic son who's an unironic wienersucking homosexual >but the asian women are still around to get blacked and bleached and pajeeted
This is funny
don't bother.
most of these people haven't actually watched the chinese version and if they did it's the 6 hour edit that takes out the 16 hours of filler they added to the story.
they also have maybe read the first book but certainly didn't get through the second or finish the third which is why they complain about certain characters appearing earlier than they do in the books or certain ideas/technology being out of place.
but if you're looking at this like it's going to be a 3-4 season long adaption, a lot of the major changes they're making are for the better.
anyone else, miss me with that >but muh oxford 5 diversity so close to teh books!!!!
nonsense i really dont give a shit. the anon was right you guys are way to caught up on the inconsequential changes.
>but if you're looking at this like it's going to be a 3-4 season long adaption, a lot of the major changes they're making are for the better.
bruh they already butchered the characters, themes and concepts of the first book. Sure you might get 2 or 3 more seasons, but they're gonna be pure shit so what's the point.
>bruh they already butchered the characters, themes and concepts of the first book.
they're adapting the full series, not book by book, and if you've actually read the full series you'd be able to see where they're going with it and why (most of) the changes they're making make sense and are for the better.
Yes, creating the Oxford 5 is stupid as frick, but at this point it's just black luo ji and jin that are left. the auggie character in the books doesn't appear after book 1, and her story is pretty much done at the end of season 1.
not all the changes are good, but this series is frickign insanely hard to adapt without making it just as autistic as the books are, and that does not make for good television.
Most people seem to think the first season is good. Some people are vocal about the changes and less are super vocal about their opinions that it's awful, but those are the minority.
as long as they keep the same conclusion to that decision I'm fine with it.
i have a feeling they'll make black luo ji frick up though instead, at that point I will actually be out despite enjoying the series so far.
Idk man I think that auggie chick is gonna show up again when the chick with the star gets to the future to help her run her business. Just get that feel about those two.
[...]
[...] >until the very end of the universe
explain pls
the series quite literally ends with humans leaving a pocket dimension to face the final minutes of the universe before it collapses into a 1 dimensional point which then causes the next big bang and explodes back into the 10 dimensions the universe originated as.

AA! That's her name. She's prolly will be her aa but won't do any shit like shoot at ships trying to take off and make kids play knowledge games for their lives unless she has some sort of character development or they cut that stuff entirely.
>they're adapting the full series, not book by book, and if you've actually read the full series
I read the full series you mongoloid, what you said still has no rebuttal to my point. They butchered that part of the story, and they'll butcher the rest too. Muh foreshadowings and moving characters forward isn't gonna change shit. >that does not make for good television.
according to your shit taste, what the frick is "good television"?
>lips canning her whole company >nothing happens, she was going to get replaced but instead she pulls out a girlboss moment and everything was cool, flees country >"Sue me if you can lol, I'll be out!" >Chink betrays humanity >"We can't arrest her without charges! Dammit! Let her go!"
Shut the frick up
A women was literally and figuratively found to be conspiring against humanity, inviting aliens to destroy us
And the only in-universe response is literally "huh sir we can't detain her without charges.. WHAT ARE THE CHARGES WE NEED CHARGES!! dammit... let ... her go... Ahh, but we will follows her, oh boy we will follow her, yes sir!!"
Literally no consequences for wrongdoing

but that slop is obviously the superior version! kek
i'm not a Cinemaphile hater and I enjoyed the show a lot. have my complaints sure, but as a sci-fi it worked well. question tho... If I enjoyed should I read the books, watch the chink show, or both?
I hate slow paced Netflix surf Dracula shit but 3 body was legit too fast. They glossed over a ton of stuff. The judgment day Panama Canal planning and slicing was like a 12 minutes total
nah they know whats up. dark forest and deaths end are where all the good shit is, they wanted to get through the preamble ASAP. 3 body is basically a prologue for the actual story.
you can think of the dark forest as the actual first book and 3 body as book 0.5
It's the #1 show right now in the US and has absolutely insane engagement on social media, so it's probably going to get a 2 more season commitment and told to wrap it up by then.
I hope season 2 is pure Dark Forest. Way better for tv than Death’s End
It's the #1 show right now in the US and has absolutely insane engagement on social media, so it's probably going to get a 2 more season commitment and told to wrap it up by then.
>It's #1 right now!
So was 1899 and countless others, doesn't mean shit
true, they actually have specific internal metric thresholds that if it doesnt meet, it will mean cancellation, and if i recall the metric is based on number of viewers who actually finished the show within like a 8 week period or something, not just total views
It's the #1 show right now in the US and has absolutely insane engagement on social media, so it's probably going to get a 2 more season commitment and told to wrap it up by then.
>It's #1 >just after the weekend it released when every slopwatcher watches whatever is new >implying netflix doesn't force their new releases to the top inorganically anyway
Seriously fricking dumb >has absolutely insane engagment
astroturfing and also people talking about something doesn't mean they're praising it.
It's the #1 show right now in the US and has absolutely insane engagement on social media, so it's probably going to get a 2 more season commitment and told to wrap it up by then.
Which is the pozzed one? Or are they both pozzed? Can I get a pozz QRD? I’m willing to watch a show about aliens but not if Black folk and trannies show up and start seething about White people or some shit like they always do in everything.
There's a single like...5 minute segment about 10 minutes into the first episode where the main character thats a c**t acts like a c**t to a dude at a bar, and then like 2 episodes later corrects her female friend when her female friend assumes her doctor is a man by saying "She..said it was blahblahblah" and barely make note of it.
That's about as pandering and preachy as it gets other than the multiracial cast. There's no explicit WHITE MAN BAD anywhere though, other than the one c**t main character whos entire personality is being a c**t hates the single best character in the show who happens to be Davos from GOT who is also the single most capable person in the show who is constantly right in almost every situation he's in.
>who happens to be Davos from GOT
Wow I would have accepted some anti-White hatred in exchange for Davos but i draw the line at anything to do with trannies or pronouns and shit. I cannot, I’d rather drink piss. I genuinely appreciate your post tho.
there's no troonys or pronouns or any of that shit.
there's one single line of dialog where a female character corrects her female friend on assuming that the doctor was male, and it's done in such a quick way that you don't really even notice it. It's not UHM EXCUSE ME ACTUALLY MY DOCTOR IS FEMALE BECAUSE FEMALES CAN BE DOCTORS YOU SHOULD KNOW THIS YOURE LITERALLY A FEMALE DOCTOR!, It's quite literally what I posted.
And it's not meant in a he's now a she because she's a troony way either.
it's genuinely not bad, which is a miracle considering it's netflix AND it's D&D
>it's not meant in a he's now a she because she's a troony way either
kek that’s what I thought you meant, alright maybe I’ll give it a try if I feel like pirating someday
The Netflix one. Ignore that anon that pretends the Netflix one is good, he's a shill.
The Chinese one is better in every single metric, except brevity but that only matters if you're a braindamaged tiktok zoomer with no patience or attention span.
the countdown was a bluff. not nessecarily a laugh but part of a project to distract and disrupt the human scientists and frick with them psychologically. in the end i dont think it could actually do anything, it was just a smart proton playing light tricks
IIn both the Netflix show and the books, the countdown is just the sophons fricking with someone eyes, they don't actually do anything with the countdown reaches zero.
However, In the show the organization of humans that work with the aliens apparently send an assassin after you to kill you if you don't stop your scientific research once the countdown hits 00:00:00.
In the books it's never actually said what happens one way or the other.
But it's not like the countdown hits 00:00:00 and they have a heart attack and die instantly.
I'll take the Netflix one. Can't stand watching asian shit, I dropped the Wandering Earth after 30 minutes. They don't act like humans, they don't talk like humans, they don't emote like humans. I can't stand it.
the chinese one predictably softballs its depiction of the communist party and fundamentally fumbles one of its primary antagonists personality and motivations because of this. an error the netflix version corrects in the first 5 minutes
after benihiof and weiss repeatedly raped GoT in every orifice, killed it and then raped it again for 2 more seasons; no i will not be watching anything they do
yes.
not so much in the first book/season, but the second and third book are absolutely full of that kind of stuff, and relativity plays a massive part in the second half of book 3.
>Does this show explore interesting concepts like Interstellar like relativity and stuff
Yes >or is this all about magic and memes and aliens?
No.
Forgot to put the quote in that stopped halfway.
>Does this show explore interesting concepts like Interstellar like relativity and stuff

Forgot to put the quote in that stopped halfway.
Specifically the chinese version.
The Netflix one glosses over everything like you're an idiot who applauds if someone namedrops Einstein and fricking loves soience.
>The Netflix one glosses over everything like you're an idiot who applauds if someone namedrops Einstein and fricking loves soience.
lmao no it doesn't.
i swear you guys are legitimately insane. it's like you're watching some completely different show than the rest of reality.
you went into it assuming you would hate it for one reason or another and every single tiny little thing that is a minor annoyance to you is now a catastrophic nightmare.

>still being this buttmad about Insterstellar’s success and popularity 10 years later
Holy cow dude let it go!
You mean reddit’s hate for Interstellar. This probably flew miles over the head of some simpleton midwit but Anne Hathaway was exploring otherwise irrational possibilities as tangible rather than doing things by the books. She wasn’t being a le dumb woman she was basically using imaginary numbers to try to solve a problem.
I don't want to win. It's not a fair fight. You were raped by your troony uncle while your alcoholic mother was passed out in a pool of her own liquid shit. Meanwhile me >6'9" >275lbs >3% bodyfat >13x8 wiener >NW0 >87 confirmed kills on 4 tours
They covered >All of book 1 >First half of the first half of book 2 >First part of Book 3
I'm guessing they plan to wrap things in 2-3 seasons given the pace and omitting 1 Wallfacer
They copied 95% of the book word for word and then added a shit ton of new stuff spread throughout. You can probably read the book faster than it takes to watch the show.
Like a couple of new characters that improve the narrative, and little subplots that also help flesh out the details through action and conversations instead of just some infodump.
The additions improve the narrative.
There are things about the chink show that make it slow, flashbacks and stuff, but just fast forward that shit if you really have to.
Just realized that the chinese poster on the left is a reference to the slicey dicey boat scene holy fricking kino. I've only read the books but do either shows do it justice?
Enjoyed the show a lot. The character I found most annoying was the cancer dude. Just a fricking pussy b***h. And obv the old asian lady who was so butthurt she decided to doom the planet.
he was the only one of the oxford gang that wasn't an annoying c**t though (besides dan but he dead), his death scene was the only moment in the series with any emotion to it
>his death scene was the only moment in the series with any emotion to it
You mean the bed one?
Because when he dies on the botched mission, that scene has 0 emotional impact
This series is so trash that they can't even place an emotional moment in the right place
And the botched mission was 5 minutes before the fricking ending
And the real fricking ending is everyone watching some fricking bugs
wtf
this show was trash and everyone saying it's a good first season is fricking deluded
Brain gets found by aliens, they clone him. He basically steals the secret to travelling at the speed of light from the aliens by spending hundreds of years writing fairy tales that contain little clues in them for humanity. The aliens think it’s a popular fairy tale and that he’s a good author so they allow him to transmit the tales as a courtesy. Humanity is moronic though and doesn’t use the light speed tech for fear of them announcing their presence to the even scarier aliens who can wipe out entire systems. This doesn’t work, the solar system is basically hit by a 2D attack and compressed together into essentially a page. However it turns out that some humans developed it in secret and had a ship that could go faster then light so the second swordbearer and her assistant use it to escape the solar system before it collapses. This makes them the only humans to escape the attack but not the only humans in the galaxy because earlier in the book, a warship deserts during the war with the Trisolarans and colonises a star 12 LY away.
And this is the lastest "biggest" sci fi book of this era?

There is no physical law that says that the particles of rock can't spontaneously become cheese, that's hard sci fi with backed up science and doesn't make it any less cartoony to have a moon suddenly becoming a cheese moon

Just because it's explained in scientific terms, doensn't mean it can't be stupid
Can I ask what’s the stupid concepts? I guess it all makes sense to me after reading the book but my summary may have caused some confusion. Is it traveling at the speed of light, hibernating for centuries? The picture? Because that was just me oversimplifying it, it’s a 2D weapon that works by literally flattening everything in its path.

It collapses 3 dimensions down to 2, and it’s stated that originally there were 10 dimensions so the universe has already degraded massively by this point.
The universe this series is set in is basically a massive war-zone and this war has been going on for billions if not trillions of years (if the years were even countable in higher dimensions)
All the “lesser” races like humans are more or less caught in the crossfire so they have little choice but to hide or become nomads if they want to survive.

Got a few episodes into the chinese version months ago but then somebody told me the "aliens" aka trisolarians never appear on screen and are actually the size of ants. Dropped it right then and there.
The trisolarans are never described in the OG series. There’s a 4th book that’s basically fanfiction that briefly describes trisolarans as bugs
Given they can dehydrate and rehydrate I assumed they're some kind of soft bodied amphibian or octopus type creature. If they can be rolled up in their dehydrated state then they cannot have an exoskeleton or even much hard tissue at allm octopus checks out here pretty well.
And she took her clothes off despite waking up in a loose shirt in other scene implying she doesn't just go to bed in bra&panties so we can also take a look of her non-fat body
How considerate!
This show paints women as capable, but emotionally unhinged lunatics. Also, all scientists smoke cigs, get drunk, and are marijuana addicts apparently.
Stress of the job? I'm a lowlife bottom rung programmer. I'm essentially a worker ant. I don't care enough about who I work for or my job to stress out over it. Drinking is fun, not an escape.
Because you are either in a dead-end position and you turn to booze and drugs as a coping mechanism for all the perceived wasted effort, or you are successful and probably suffer from imposter syndrome and overcompensate by being le hecking epic large than life figure.
Also research is a b***h and you got boring very quickly of it.
It’s not as wishy-washy as it sounds, and it reads more like a sociological study of human societies through different times and trials of a far extended future.
It’s great worldbuilding, but pretty shallow characters, however this is typical of a lot of Chinese fiction imo.
A lot of characters come and go never to be seen again, but some do have their moments.
Tencent is more accurate to the story and the scientific lore, but it looks cheap. Netflix has the money but the actors are often good (Ye, Wade & Da) or utterly shit. And on top of that butcher the original story.
I agree, it was really weird.
To be honest I don’t care how “good” it is, I just dislike modern American dramas in general.
The entire style is just aggravating and tiresome for me to watch.
I read the books, I watched the Chinese series, that’s enough for me.
I don’t really need to see it again, but AMERICAN.
In the books the basically describe Cheng Xin as a supermodel and 99% of her story relevance is having people give her things or do things for her because she’s beautiful.
Sneed's body problem
Tencent version for me. Better acting, closer to the book, etc.
> chinese
> better acting
gtfoh
read the original, not the chinsloppa
this book is more about the petty politics of scientist egos than ayy lmaos
it's not bad though
even more based. Scientists kill more people than they save.
based lem enjoyer
I'd also recommend reading Out of the Silent Planet. It basically spits on the idea that that aliens would have the same assumptions like us, such as their concept of survival.
I would do it, but Tolkien adviced me not to read C.S.Lewis, and I respect Tolkien more than a random internet dude
Okay, your choice
they actually have a scene in this netflix show where they talk about literally that
Tolkien just re wrote the Bible Jesus story and added capeshit.
Meanwhile C.S. fricking lewis invented Isekai, so frick em
What other forms of survival is there other than reproduction of genes? Isn't that basic evolution?
From a human perspective. And that's where, in the book, Ransom begins to realize that alien intelligences aren't like humans.
love the Iron Maiden song
Lmao are you that moron from the last thread seething about Dark Forest theory, but with no coherent argument against it?
There's at least one but perhaps more morons copy pasting their posts and shit takes in these threads for days
>Trisolarian sophons are posting bait in the threads to destroy Cinemaphiles ability to develop comfy book discussion.
those Chinsects better take their ass to the BOOK BOARD
They want to come here; over on that board rogue mods unpredictably ban posters and delete threads. Statistically, the whole board will be removed, eventually.
LOL, you're that moron who cries because he can't form an argument against it! AH HA HA AHA!! Oh, man. I feel sorry for you.
FRICK THIS PLACE. homosexuals conned me into watching Station Eleven. FRICK YOU!!!
Get filtered homosexual, Station Eleven is KINO of the highest order.
Failure to understand this means you ain't gonna make it in the undersea.
Ah, frick YOU, leatherman!
filtered
filtered 85 IQ Black person
It's all just memes, son. You aren't actually supposed to watch the slop.
sry anon but you got filtered, the last day in the apartment with the play was utter kino
East.
I watched the Netflix version at 2X. It was ok. I'll never watch it again.
do you respect your time? read the book instead
It's going to take him years to read it
Every journey started with one step. Also the western version is unironically better.
where 2 dl ching chong version?
The American version has typical Hollywood melodrama in it of course and it's more annoying than helpful. It's a distraction.
I disliked the unnecessary relationship drama and gore as well.
>40 slow emotional scenes of cancer dude in between the plot
>Better pacing
It's a monkey paw wish.m It is better paced, but what's better paced WITH, is pure trash
The only thing that's trash is the Auggie scenes. The cancer guy is actually pulled up front from book 3 in a good way. It happens in the same timeline.
Bro, it's only better paced because you are willing to suspend your disbelief on the timeline they are creating and the instant spawning they have, much like Game of Thrones
>I'm in Panama, and then I'm with cancerman on the beach at the next scene
>I'm on London and then I'm with cancerman on the beach
All the friend group circle through cancerman's beach like it's a fricking videogame HUB, and you have no queue on the time passing by because cancerman says "when I get worse later" and he never got any worse, one day he just falls and that's it
cancer guy scenes seemed pointless at first but they really aren't, and a few of them end up being some of the strongest scenes of the show
Its true, but their inclusion does frick up the pace of netflix's slop.
>Also Liu Bei guy as Da Shi was a total miss. Benedict Wong is unironically better.
Absolute madness
The netflix is possibly the dumbest thing I've ever seen in my life and I've been watching horse shit television for longer than most of you have been alive. Watch the tencent.
Bros, I'm on Episode 5. How the frick did this butthole have the authority to do what he did? Even world leaders don't have that authority.
Only absolute monarchs and dictators can do something like that. Hell, even then those monarchs and dictators can face a revolt from the soldiers if they try this on defenceless civilians.
>he doesn't know
This is a D&D-caused problem. The power hiearchy is much better described in the chink version and the book. He's also several characters thrown into one.
Wouldn't be surprised if this mofo is gonna have one of the discarded wallfacer's storyline in a future season, if that gets greenlit.
>He's also several characters thrown into one.
And who are they?
Netflix Wade basically took over the role of Major-General Chang, who leads the Asian branch of an organization that is a global military-intelligence alliance to investigate the scientists deaths and the terrorist organization they uncover, and ultimately the aliens.
Netflix Wade also took over a lot of things done by Da Shi, which is why Shi is just a pointless lackey in the show, instead of having a prominent role like in books.
They also have like a command center and meetings with generals from all the major world pwoers and actual conversations about things, not pulling everything out of Wade's ass.
Was Wade even in book 1? I don’t remember him until book 2
He wasn't, but he did technically exist in the time period.
He's the best part of the show. His charisma almost makes up for the weak, pathetic, multiracial group of scientists. Him and Wong carry hard.
Wade exudes sheer chad energy. Nations kneel.
I'm on episode 7, who the frick is that guy?
that's the Netflix show, he doesn't appear in the Chinese version since he's a character from the second and third book
but appears earlier replacing the military council from book 1 basically
neither? why would I watch either of these slop?
The only Chinese show I have watched is Douluo Continent. It was pretty good but Chinese seasons have way too many episodes and are not conducive to binging for me.
The chinese version is unwatchable and I nearly only watch asian movies. I won't watch gaymerican crap so I don't know about that homosexual version. Let me guess, the main character is a woman and her best friend is a gay Black person ?
There's a CG animated version too, any chance it's any better?
I'm finally going to watch this tonight.
You guys speak Chinese?
some
I assumed it has subs, those chink CG cartoons usually get them nowadays.
there's also a fairly comprehensive minecraft version which became an official adaptation
>there's also a fairly comprehensive minecraft version
wat
Minecraft pfft, when it's in Fortnite, then we can talk, that's were true cinema resides.
A fan made an adaptation of the first book using Minecraft. It got really popular and praised for being faithful to the book that the book owners decides to fund them to create an actual animated show but in Minecraft style. It's also the only adaptation that's able to adapt the second book, and gloriously depicted one of the signature scenes of the whole trilogy.
where to download and does it has a good english sub?
>mfw a bunch of spergs made a kino better than netflix hundreds of millions of dollars
only the first episode is good
The ending is kinda moronic. Mini dimensions? Dimensional flattening weapons? Universe restarting?
>From the creators of Game of Thrones
its over...
no, it's beginning
neither
>ALIENS = BAD
no, stop believing this propaganda anons
Did sophons infiltrate Cinemaphile to sow division?
Where did the VR headsets come from? Like who made them?
The Sophons provided the specs to the cult and the cult manufactured them.
The D&D plotholes made them.
The one that has less Black folk (0)
are there really Black folk in the communist version?
If by commie version you meant the chinese one then idk. I'm on the 2nd episode so far
I think one of the USA top military was black, idk what branch
Stop splitting the threads you tards
other thread is gay don't tell me what to do
western version turned my homie lou ji into a Black person
Tatiana is initially implied as an alien form but later on we find out she is just another follower. So how did she not show up on cameras and sneak up on people without them seeing her, did the Sophon scrub all digital evidence or make her invisible
>did the Sophon scrub all digital evidence
yes, the two protons they sent to earth can frick with the electronics
I guess it makes sense since the Sophon was protecting its followers such as the people on Judgment Day ship
how is she able to throw a fat white man into bulletproof glass and crack it if she's just a normal human follower?
turn off your brain 🙂
this was really dumb
I thought the aliens gave them some kind of nanosuit to enhance physical abilities but when the shooting happened everyone just folded like civilians (which they are supposed to be) and then I completely forgot of that nonsensical scene
if i remember right she had super assassin powers in the chinese version too with no explanation
>super assassin powers in the chinese version too with no explanation
she had been training for years in a terrorist organization
Trisolarans have a tremendous respect for humanity and human culture, arts, etc
speedreader
book 1 readers think trisols despise humanity
book 2-3 readers know trisols respect the frick out of humanity for their art, their culture, their technological advancements, and tons of other shit
you outed yourself as someone that got filtered by book 2s awful pacing.
In book 1, in the 21st century, the trisolarans have zero clue about humanity and are disgusted by them, only WAY later through regular communication do they come to respect humans, but that is after hundred of years of on and off conflict by that point.
Only WAY later in the future, by the 21st century time they still hate humans
>They sort of imply she is like the robot Sophon from book 3
What? They're clearly angling to make her a wallbreaker
They don't imply that at all, she's clearly shown to be a human collaborator that the sophons are just erasing evidence for
They already have the woman from the VR game who is clearly the robot ninja tealady
the ship slicing scene was better in the western version because they have more experience with illusions and terrorism. the sparks detract from it a lot in the chinese version. also its good vaccine propaganda to make the mexican girl whine about murdering children annoyingly
>good vaccine propaganda to make the mexican girl whine about murdering children
That's the vax prop? Not the "Evans have been finding antivax and anti science campaigns, the foul feind" comment?
ya i noticed that line too. very rich that a guy who wants to save the birds from human overpopulation would be against the deadly ethnically coded bioweapon, but, whatever dude!
Chinese version had better sound design imo. The Netflix shock factor with the kids probably caused some hand-wringing somewhere i'm sure
I wish I just listened to the audiobook tbh. now it's too late
Not really, just listen to the audiobook.
Netflix adaptation is so trash they actually omitted a huge chunk of the first book in favor of the 3rd book.
And the 3rd book is SHIT
The one not in Mandarin.
>people saying the chinese adaption is just a word for word adaption or that it's a true adaption
tencent three body is full of new characters, new plot lines, random literal cutaway gags like it's family guy, in-universe adverts, and stunt casting of famous chinese people - not actors but just random important cultural figureheads.
there's a cutdown that takes the 25 hours of tencent material and condenses it into about 6 hours that is an incredibly faithful adaption of the first book.
you should not try to watch the full tencent version, it's genuinely more awful than the netflix version. but the 6 hour cutdown is fantastic.
>cutting out all the character relationship buildup and suspense is good
Seriously 6 hours? I could believe 12, 14. But 6? Frick no
link homie wtf
Am I the only one that wants to frick the grandma?
Western one
Less bloated, less chinks, less tik tok shit and doesn’t glorify the commies
Fricking chink parasites
They're both objectively bad.
Also, the Chinese language and culture is disgusting, which makes it an inherently harder watch.
tl;dr they're both bad
Watch Shogun.
Galileo being a screaming moron is true though
ok :^)
no
also, you will never be a woman
Nice try, Chang, but nobody is buying it. The only reason any of that shit happens or makes sense is explicitly because it takes place in Maoist China. Turning your dad over to Red Guards isn't an "inherent human flaw", it's an inherent communist flaw.
It's explicit in every version that isn't the Chinese Tencent version, where it's presented obliquely to the point of diverging from the source material. This is why you have morons making posts like
>The Netflix version is Bio-Leninist progslop
please take your anti psychotics
or better yet, have a nice day
>e Wenjie cultural revolution backstory which is rendered worthless after obvious butchery by Chinese censors.
It would have been great if they had plaid the chuddiness straight, instead of accidentally stumbling into it. Would have made great satire.
what is the story about anyway?
The Fermi Paradox has come to frick us up by using all of the most out there sci-fi ideas possible.
Revelation Space did it better.
Revelation Space descends into Grey Goo. The most boring sci-fi doomsday idea.
It does not go well, at all, for humanity.
the more you explain the more moronic it gets
what's even the point of that story?
>what's even the point of that story?
>>It's mostly about what the frick humanity does for the next 350 years while their science is broken to try to prepare for the invasion.
I don't get what sounds moronic about it, but I also enjoy scifi so that might be the key.
if the plot is we are all going to die and cant do anything about it because of magic protons, why would I want to watch it?
If you are going to die at some point why the frick are you still breathing? What's the point?
I see, so it's the starfield good because when we went to the moon irl the astronauts werent bored
you dont have to reply anymore
Because the plot is about humanity not going silently into that good night.
Except fricking Cheng, Frick Cheng and her giant ass woman moment
It's humanity's collective fault for placing their existence in the hands of a woman.
>if the plot is we are all going to die and cant do anything about it because of magic protons, why would I want to watch it?
Because despite the overwhelming odds, humanity is quite literally one of the last surviving species at the end of the entire universe in the book series.
Not true. Other species demand all matter be returned to our universe in preparation for the next big bang cycle
I mean let's just say hypothetically somehow Death's End got a sequel, wonder what kind of bullshit will happen.
that's confusing as frick, could you elaborate a bit about each book?
By the time anyone summarizes the books for you you might as well have read them yourself
I am not asking about the details just a rough guidline
They’re long and have a frickton happening
>book 1: humans discover aliens, aliens flee their doomed planet to conquer us
>book 2: humans realize there are tons of aliens and if we’re discovered by any of them we’ll be annihilated
>book 3: follows characters through the end of the universe
It ends well until Cheng Jin in the show fricks it up
>can't travel at ftl
>somehow still invincible technologically
Dumb
>However it takes over 200 years for the alien ships to arrive as their max speed, so most of the story takes place in that 200 years of societal change and planning.
400 years.
>until the very end of the universe
explain pls
The third book goes on until the actual end of the universe. So really the stakes for this season are meaningless
Do you think they'll do the fourth book or give hints?
There's no fourth book
The final message for all the races of the universe seems to imply human civilization endured and was successful enough to be recognized.
thanks makes much more sense now
still if humans have a space force, why not fly away to distant stars?
For the same reasons the aliens don't, they don't have FTL travel. That's why aliens are taking centuries to arrive.
But a big part of the books is the exploration of different social/political/scientific ideas and ideologies, because some believe its best to try to escape, and others stay and fight, and others diplomacy, and others just despair and hedonism.
thanks anon
>some believe its best to try to escape, and others stay and fight, and others diplomacy, and others just despair and hedonism
Don't we like
Do this now
Without aliens
do you need a pancake universe and mind reading ants to understand those concepts
Yes its also an analogy to current human issues like the conflict of modern china vs the west... like so many science fiction. Really smart observation anon, really smart.
>It’s just controversial because governments don’t want humanity as a whole to give up once some human Ark leaves.
that is so monumentaly moronic that really sounds like something politicians would do
It is moronic but not unrealistic.
There are a lot of totally moronic decisions made but they are decisions that our actual countries make daily.
Like wanting to fire Luo Ji as defender of the earth because he’s a scary man and “too aggressive” towards the genocidal alien invaders.
>Bio-Leninist progslop
what does this mean?
Really what happens to Earth after the space ship is able to escape is irrelevant as earth is basically doomed either way from the moment it was revealed to ANY outside aliens.
it's hilarious in the chinese version when anyone speaks english because the subs mishear so many words. like eggcorn comedy
im watching the chinkazoid one rn, its way less gay and i like that it seems to just replicate the book beat for beat
netflix is more entertaining i guess but it is also omega pozzed and very gay. The black UN secretary general made me kek. It's like every corner your turn there is some strong women figure.
>chink niche novel gets days of discussion on Cinemaphile
Say what you want about D&D but they drive engagement with their works.
The Chinese version had 100 million viewers, anon. Leave your little American bubble for a few seconds
Do you understand this is netflix most expensive shit? They've thrown a ton of money on astroturfing this turd.
the tencent version already got discussed a lot which is why I watched it months ago
but maybe that had to do with netflix being announced. still everyone assumed netflix would be slop
>still everyone assumed netflix would be slop
It is slop
>Cinemaphile is so contrarian now that won't appreciate a good show despite its flaws
Sad!
>appreciate despite its flaws
its 90% flaws.
>see ants on the ground
>bend down and yell at them "you are bugs!"
>whip out a whiteboard and start drawing diagrams explaining in great detail how I'm going to invade their ant hill and wipe them out
why did they do this
psychological warfare
quite literally to scare the frick out of humans and to flex their superiority and to express just how completely fricked the humans actually are
because they're legitimately terrified of humans and the insanely quick technological leaps they've accomplished
they were alone in the unverse and finally have someone to talk to
netflix one is unironically closer to the source material, and if you dont get that, you are getting caught up on surface level issues
>oroginal cast was majority asian men
>new cast only has one (1) single asian man and his moronic son who's an unironic wienersucking homosexual
>but the asian women are still around to get blacked and bleached and pajeeted
This is funny
like i said, you got caught up on the surface level issues. you played yourself, well done
Horrible bait.
don't bother.
most of these people haven't actually watched the chinese version and if they did it's the 6 hour edit that takes out the 16 hours of filler they added to the story.
they also have maybe read the first book but certainly didn't get through the second or finish the third which is why they complain about certain characters appearing earlier than they do in the books or certain ideas/technology being out of place.
but if you're looking at this like it's going to be a 3-4 season long adaption, a lot of the major changes they're making are for the better.
anyone else, miss me with that
>but muh oxford 5 diversity so close to teh books!!!!
nonsense i really dont give a shit. the anon was right you guys are way to caught up on the inconsequential changes.
>but if you're looking at this like it's going to be a 3-4 season long adaption, a lot of the major changes they're making are for the better.
bruh they already butchered the characters, themes and concepts of the first book.
Yes, creating the Oxford 5 is stupid as frick, but at this point it's just black luo ji and jin that are left. the auggie character in the books doesn't appear after book 1, and her story is pretty much done at the end of season 1.
not all the changes are good, but this series is frickign insanely hard to adapt without making it just as autistic as the books are, and that does not make for good television.
>they're adapting the full series
If you do a shitty first season, why do you think people will stick for later seasons
Most people seem to think the first season is good. Some people are vocal about the changes and less are super vocal about their opinions that it's awful, but those are the minority.
>auggie character in the books doesn't appear after book 1
what if they change the story and make her the 2nd swordholder
>what if they change the story and make her the 2nd swordholder
Isn't that supposed to be the asiatic in love with the flying brain?
as long as they keep the same conclusion to that decision I'm fine with it.
i have a feeling they'll make black luo ji frick up though instead, at that point I will actually be out despite enjoying the series so far.
what if she and cheng xin became a lesbian couple in the pocket universe
Idk man I think that auggie chick is gonna show up again when the chick with the star gets to the future to help her run her business. Just get that feel about those two.
auggie is going to end up taking the role of AA.
the series quite literally ends with humans leaving a pocket dimension to face the final minutes of the universe before it collapses into a 1 dimensional point which then causes the next big bang and explodes back into the 10 dimensions the universe originated as.
Netflix is about books 1-2 with small parts of 3 thrown in. Tencent is all book 1
how pozzed is it?
Actually liked how they made Auggie a joyless anxious c**t instead of a Mary sue. Show is better than expected tbqh
Non of the women face any consequences for their wrongdoing
What wrongdoings, incel?
>lips canning her whole company
>nothing happens, she was going to get replaced but instead she pulls out a girlboss moment and everything was cool, flees country
>"Sue me if you can lol, I'll be out!"
>Chink betrays humanity
>"We can't arrest her without charges! Dammit! Let her go!"
Shut the frick up
You can’t have missed the plot this badly. There’s no way an adult’s comprehension can be this low
There’s no criminal penalty for what she did lol. Dummy
I said she faced no consequences for her clearly wrongdoing and what you did is literally the thing I mocked
>WHAT ARE THE CHARGES, WE NEED THE CHARGES OR WE CAN'T DO ANYTHING OTHERWISE, SIR, THE CHARGES!!!
>DAMMIT!
but that slop is obviously the superior version! kek
Which one has Black folk and which one doesn’t?
both, sorry your chud eyes can't watch them
i'm not a Cinemaphile hater and I enjoyed the show a lot. have my complaints sure, but as a sci-fi it worked well. question tho... If I enjoyed should I read the books, watch the chink show, or both?
read the books, if you REALLY want more after that watch the 6 hour chinese cut.
Unironically this. All the bread crumbs being thrown around the first season of the netflix adaptation will make sense.
Well I turned off 3 body when the stronk womyn of science corrected her friend about seeing a female neurologist
>”IT’S SHE”
so my guess is the other one can’t possibly be any worse.
>8 episodes vs 30 episodes + subtitles
its netflix kino for me
I hate slow paced Netflix surf Dracula shit but 3 body was legit too fast. They glossed over a ton of stuff. The judgment day Panama Canal planning and slicing was like a 12 minutes total
nah they know whats up. dark forest and deaths end are where all the good shit is, they wanted to get through the preamble ASAP. 3 body is basically a prologue for the actual story.
you can think of the dark forest as the actual first book and 3 body as book 0.5
midwit can't read subtitles and has no attention span
does chinese one cover entire 1st book? So I can begin 2nd book after chinese tv show?
Post yfw BASED netflix cancels the shit out of it next month
It's #1 Netflix show right now so it's definitely getting another season.
I hope season 2 is pure Dark Forest. Way better for tv than Death’s End
>It's #1
>just after the weekend it released when every slopwatcher watches whatever is new
>implying netflix doesn't force their new releases to the top inorganically anyway
Seriously fricking dumb
>has absolutely insane engagment
astroturfing and also people talking about something doesn't mean they're praising it.
I don't care about your opinions on something you clearly know nothing about.
It's the #1 show right now in the US and has absolutely insane engagement on social media, so it's probably going to get a 2 more season commitment and told to wrap it up by then.
Dumb & Dumber surely negotiated multiple seasons based on their names alone
I wish but knowing how moronic people are and stupid social media astroturfing they probably will do at least another season
Neither, I read the book, it's shit.
This show has led to some of the worst takes in Cinemaphile history
>ONLY ADVANCE
Imagine doubting him for a single second
well... humanity doubted
And look at the cost of not listening to white logic.
Wade was one of the best characters in the book
Does anything actually happen if the countdown reaches zero? Or it's just the sophons having a laugh
the countdown was a bluff. not nessecarily a laugh but part of a project to distract and disrupt the human scientists and frick with them psychologically. in the end i dont think it could actually do anything, it was just a smart proton playing light tricks
But it's not like the countdown hits 00:00:00 and they have a heart attack and die instantly.
>driving in the highway
>frick with your eyes
>crash
>die
I'll take the Netflix one. Can't stand watching asian shit, I dropped the Wandering Earth after 30 minutes. They don't act like humans, they don't talk like humans, they don't emote like humans. I can't stand it.
the chinese one predictably softballs its depiction of the communist party and fundamentally fumbles one of its primary antagonists personality and motivations because of this. an error the netflix version corrects in the first 5 minutes
after benihiof and weiss repeatedly raped GoT in every orifice, killed it and then raped it again for 2 more seasons; no i will not be watching anything they do
Why didn't they just leave their planet and live on ships?
Why didn't they just nuke one of their suns so their system becomes stable?
Does this show explore interesting concepts like Interstellar like relativity and stuff or is this all about magic and memes and aliens?
yes.
not so much in the first book/season, but the second and third book are absolutely full of that kind of stuff, and relativity plays a massive part in the second half of book 3.
Yes? I didn’t ask a yes or no question.
>Does this show explore interesting concepts like Interstellar like relativity and stuff
Yes
>or is this all about magic and memes and aliens?
No.
Forgot to put the quote in that stopped halfway.
you did
>concepts like Interstellar like relativity and stuff
Don't you worry about that Anon.
Specifically the chinese version.
The Netflix one glosses over everything like you're an idiot who applauds if someone namedrops Einstein and fricking loves soience.
>The Netflix one glosses over everything like you're an idiot who applauds if someone namedrops Einstein and fricking loves soience.
lmao no it doesn't.
i swear you guys are legitimately insane. it's like you're watching some completely different show than the rest of reality.
you went into it assuming you would hate it for one reason or another and every single tiny little thing that is a minor annoyance to you is now a catastrophic nightmare.
its middling trash any way you look at it, and that's how it will be remembered in the end after this novelty hype dies down
>interesting concepts like Interstellar
LMAO
Truly such an overrated 8/10 film
>popular, highly reviewed blockbuster?
>HATED IT
never change Cinemaphile you hivemind contrarian homosexuals
Popularity has never equated to quality. Stay a midwit forever.
You automatically hate everything popular
You are a loser
Grow up
You're just a moron, a shill, or a troll, perhaps all three of them. It's fricking sad you have to be here hating on people that like true kino, promoting slop.
Interstellar is fricking garbage. The “cool sci fi” capeshit concepts are fricking lame. Omg I’m aging faster than my daughter. Mud
>still being this buttmad about Insterstellar’s success and popularity 10 years later
Holy cow dude let it go!
Yeah I was looking for real concepts like gravity and relativity and not aliens and meme magic.
real concepts like love being a physical force and inexplicable 4d alien time matrix? frickin reddits boner for interstellar is a cancer
How are you still mad about that movie? My goodness it’s not healthy
To anyone who wants to check out the chink version:

Watched the first episode. If I continue watching, does the silly feminism go away or get worse?
Where's the "silly feminism"? The female characters talking?
that's already TOO much feminism.
Females talking is the problem
LOL you incelgroids are funny
only women devolve to ad hominems when they're unable to win an argument.
>ad hominems
I’ll rip your face off like a baboon
Ad Astra fallacy
I don't want to win. It's not a fair fight. You were raped by your troony uncle while your alcoholic mother was passed out in a pool of her own liquid shit. Meanwhile me

It doesn't go away.
How far into the second book does the TV show get?
they announce the wallfacers
They covered
>All of book 1
>First half of the first half of book 2
>First part of Book 3
I'm guessing they plan to wrap things in 2-3 seasons given the pace and omitting 1 Wallfacer
What about the chinese version?
Chinese version is Book1 + a frick ton of fanfiction
Word for word adaptation of the first book. That's why it's 30 episodes long
They copied 95% of the book word for word and then added a shit ton of new stuff spread throughout. You can probably read the book faster than it takes to watch the show.
>added a shit ton of new shit
Like what?
Like a couple of new characters that improve the narrative, and little subplots that also help flesh out the details through action and conversations instead of just some infodump.
The additions improve the narrative.
There are things about the chink show that make it slow, flashbacks and stuff, but just fast forward that shit if you really have to.
It basically covers all the events in the 21st century except carrying out the wallfacer plans.
> watching Chinese monsters for more than 30 hours of chinkslop
LMAO Netflix and chill time
Just realized that the chinese poster on the left is a reference to the slicey dicey boat scene holy fricking kino. I've only read the books but do either shows do it justice?
I liked Tencent’s boat scene more. Netflix’s was rushed
Do we get gorey aftermath in either or just the view from outside?
Netflix is very bloody. Tencent’s wasn’t
Neither has a lot of gore. The american version is a bit more graphic. We see some kid's severed foot after it's done
>neither has a lot of gore
Netflix literally shows 20 people being segmented with bloody organ squelching sounds
To be honest, I just don’t like American TV dramas in general.
The gore and relationship turned me off more than the diversity.
>netflix slop drops
>Cinemaphile full of spoilers now
abloo bloo 🙁
Enjoyed the show a lot. The character I found most annoying was the cancer dude. Just a fricking pussy b***h. And obv the old asian lady who was so butthurt she decided to doom the planet.
he was the only one of the oxford gang that wasn't an annoying c**t though (besides dan but he dead), his death scene was the only moment in the series with any emotion to it
I found his death to be very sad, but not because he died, just because Jin and Saul were sad.
>his death scene was the only moment in the series with any emotion to it
You mean the bed one?
Because when he dies on the botched mission, that scene has 0 emotional impact
This series is so trash that they can't even place an emotional moment in the right place
And the botched mission was 5 minutes before the fricking ending
And the real fricking ending is everyone watching some fricking bugs
wtf
this show was trash and everyone saying it's a good first season is fricking deluded
yes in the hospital bed, the show was utterly lacking human emotion otherwise but that's not surprising since it's based on a chink novel
Did he, tho?
Can someone spoil me what happens to the flying brain?
Read book 3
This sound like absolute, complete utter trash, teen titans go! levels of cartoony scifi
Well it is because hugo awards said so and it recently turnes out that hugo awards has been taking money from cee cee pee so...
It’s hard for me to summarize it but they do get into detail for these concepts since the series is hard sci fi.
There is no physical law that says that the particles of rock can't spontaneously become cheese, that's hard sci fi with backed up science and doesn't make it any less cartoony to have a moon suddenly becoming a cheese moon
Just because it's explained in scientific terms, doensn't mean it can't be stupid
The death scene was very well done. Those two actors had good buddy chemistry
Got a few episodes into the chinese version months ago but then somebody told me the "aliens" aka trisolarians never appear on screen and are actually the size of ants. Dropped it right then and there.
The trisolarans are never described in the OG series. There’s a 4th book that’s basically fanfiction that briefly describes trisolarans as bugs
>low IQ post
Do you need CGI all over the screen to enjoy a story? I guess it wasn't a story for you after all.
Given they can dehydrate and rehydrate I assumed they're some kind of soft bodied amphibian or octopus type creature. If they can be rolled up in their dehydrated state then they cannot have an exoskeleton or even much hard tissue at allm octopus checks out here pretty well.
Despite being PTSDed she put her make up on so we can see her crying more clearly?
And she took her clothes off despite waking up in a loose shirt in other scene implying she doesn't just go to bed in bra&panties so we can also take a look of her non-fat body
How considerate!
Yes? You've never been around a woman?
This show paints women as capable, but emotionally unhinged lunatics. Also, all scientists smoke cigs, get drunk, and are marijuana addicts apparently.
>Also, all scientists smoke cigs, get drunk, and are marijuana addicts apparently.
It really checks out from my experience as a researcher.
A lot of characters come and go never to be seen again, but some do have their moments.
hard pass on the KKKommieslop
Tencent is more accurate to the story and the scientific lore, but it looks cheap. Netflix has the money but the actors are often good (Ye, Wade & Da) or utterly shit. And on top of that butcher the original story.
I agree, it was really weird.
To be honest I don’t care how “good” it is, I just dislike modern American dramas in general.
The entire style is just aggravating and tiresome for me to watch.
I read the books, I watched the Chinese series, that’s enough for me.
I don’t really need to see it again, but AMERICAN.
Neither. It’s Doctor Who with chinks
In the books the basically describe Cheng Xin as a supermodel and 99% of her story relevance is having people give her things or do things for her because she’s beautiful.
ITT: anons who don’t understand the science concepts and call it stupid cuz they feel inferior
Chinese version is superior in every way.
Incredibly even in vfx
>that fricking monkey
Those netflix producers must've just pocketed half the budget
