Sly, and it isn't even close
What the frick has Arnold written? When has Arnold given a legitimately challenging good performance. He can only play one roll, and it's easy when you got muscles like that, the unflinching tough guy. He had a better body than Sly, and that's all he had. Sly has written great films, and risen to the task of delivering on extremely challenging roles. Arnold is a media powerhouse, but Sly is an auteur, a true artist. As for Van Damme, who gives a shit?
fpbp
Seagal trumps them all though.
These guys are right, people are talking about Arnold vs. Sly as if Sly is just an actor.
It's kinda nuts when you consider how involved he was with rocky and rambo. Guy has his niche and he knows how to use it. He's objectively a one note actor, but he does it extremely well.
Because the debate is about which one is the best Action Star, not who's the best creator or artist.Star power is more than just technical skills too. Arnold's fame as a star gave him a governorship and if it weren't for America's blood and soil mentality, a presidency would have been on the table.
>and if it weren't for America's blood and soil mentality, a presidency would have been on the table.
This is true. At his height alot of people would've voted for him. The left cause of his eco stance, the right because of his charisma
>What the frick has Arnold written? When has Arnold given a legitimately challenging good performance
No one cares about sly gay script writing and over dramatic performances. This thread is about action movies. Arnold had more great action movies than sly.
>Seagal trumps them all though.
Based
>roll
just watched cobra and it was shit.
So i'm certain it's not stalone
low t opinion
Different anon but I agree with him. Cobra sucks. 3/4 of it is lingering shots of shitty NYC and the other half is a bed n breakfast shoot out with that gay from the X-Files.
arnold
sly
seagal
van damme
in that order
> Seagal.
huehuehuehue
t. cumtown zoomer
probably arnold and jackie chan. didn't really watch anything else so i'm biased
dolph best looking
sly best actor
arnie best movies
There is no substitute.
chuck norris cranked out some kinos in the 80s
Midge
more like suck norris
Arnold
>Terminator - Classic
>T2 - Meh
>Total Recall - Classic
>Predator - Classic
>Running Man - Great
>True Lies - Okay
Stallone
>Rocky Classic
>Rocky II
>Rocky III
>Rocky IV All great
>Cobra Okay
>First Blood Great
>Demolition Man Classic
>Assassins - Okay
>Judge Dredd Okay
>Tango & Cash Good
>Nighthawks Good
Van Damme
>Bloodsport Classic
>Kickboxer Okay
>Double Impact Great
>The rest Meh
Seagal
>Out for Justice Classic
>Hard to Kill Classic
>Marked for Death Meh
>Above the Law Okay
>Under Siege Okay
I prefer under siege 2 to the first one and van damme has way more than 3 good movies
like what? Hard Target? The one with Rodman? I didnt see Street Fighter, or Universal Soldier. What else?
cyborg
universal soldier
lionheart
the quest
hard target
sudden death
what's wrong with bloodsport and No Retreat No Surrender?
bloodsport is good but I was listing ones that weren't in the other list. I've haven't seen no retreat no surrender yet
>no timecop
bros...
I haven't seen timecop yet
>i'm unfit for jcvd discussion
yes
I've seen like 3/4ths of van dammes movies including a lot of the shitty DTV ones, timecop is one of the few I haven't seen
Timecop's good.
I can't belive that you have seen so many JCVD movies and never seen Timecop. That's like watching an Arnold movie without ever watching the Terminator, how does that even make any sense?
Timecop isn't good, it was simply the height of Van Damme's popularity.
I'd suggest seeing how he got his start in the far more soulful "No Retreat, No Surrender."
timecop and death warrant are the only classic JCVD that I haven't gotten around to yet
>no commando or conan
>no Rambo II or 2008
>no time cop, universal soldier, sudden death, lion heart, or hard target
>no under Siege 2, out for justice, or fire down below
Why are Rocky gays such plebs?
Watch some movies besides Rocky 3 and then you can join action threads
on deadly ground is seagal kino too
>True Lies - Okay
Black person you best be joking
>True Lies - Okay
>No mention of The Last Action Hero
Love True Lies.
I like the part where Key West gets nuked. Frick Key West.
Let me fix that for you
>Van Damme
Bloodsport
Kickboxer
Double Impact
Hard Target
Lionheart
Street Fighter
Timecop
Universal Soldier
Honorable mentions
The Quest
Sudden Death
Cyborg
Death Warrant
JCVD was a kino factory in the 90's
Plus he's genuinely likable and fricks.
>he's genuinely likable
Not back then, his ego fricked street fighter, it took years of failure for him to be likeable.
he started out humble but in the 90s got a huge ego like all of these dudes do and later got humbled
>his ego fricked street fighter
>ego
>minogue
>minogue fricked the Street Fighter™
He also delivered oscar award levels of acting in his JCVD movie.
Sadly he was btfo by Heath Ledger's protrayal of the Joker released the same year.
>JCVD movie.
Is it good? I haven't seen it
It's surprisingly good.
Very good intimate movie, best seen in the original language for better appreciation of his acting skills.
>>True Lies
>>Okay
>>T2
>>Meh
My guy, I want to punch in the dick, get off the internet, right away.
for me, bronson
Arnold.
Arnold.
And Arnold.
Why the frick is Dolph even there? I love Dark Angel and the ‘89 Punisher but come on son.
dolph is a great action guy but he was never really able to be in a true classic movie on his own, his best shit is with other dudes (rocky 4 with stallone and universal soldier with van damme)
Did you know that Dolph and Stallone are beefing over some stupid Drago spinoff movie now? Stallone got salty because he was being cut out on money. I wonder if he'll cut Dolph's scenes from Expendables 4 now.
I'm pretty sure expendables 4 is basically done so it's probably too late for that
Can't he cut it until the day it's released? It's his movie after all
he could do up until it gets sent out to theatres I guess
I very unironically really enjoy Streetfighter.
>Who is the greatest action Kinoture?
Jackie Chan.
Ya gotta go jackie. Not only best action star but best stunt man of all time.
what a great run of movies
what movie is this from?
The Running Man
This movie is full of kino 80's flick, not the best from Arnie but a very good action flick.
It's Arnold.
Sly gays will try to pretend it's him but they seem to forget unlike Stallone, Arnold had more movies people enjoy and still talk about
Stallone
>Rocky
>Rambo
>Demolition Man (which is only as good as it is cause of snypes)
>tango an Kash (again Kurt Russell carries the movie)
>....Cobra?
vs
Arnold
>Terminator
>Predator
>Conan
>Total Recall
>Commando
>pumping iron
>kindergarten cop
>twins
>true lies
Arnold is the biggest action star and always will be simply because the action genre is dead for the most part
stallone has
rocky
rambo
demolition man
cobra
nighthawks
cliffhanger
judge dredd
tango and cash
over the top
but I agree that Arnold has the better run of movies
can't just count rocky once. 5/6 were kino
same with rambo. 4 is lowkey better than first blood
>. 4 is lowkey better than first blood
This is the first Stallone gay opinion I've seen itt that's correct. 08 is the best Rambo movie
This topic is about action movies. If twins, pumping iron, and kindergarten cop are action movies, then they're terrible. Luckily two are comedies and one is a doc
Sly is the only person besides Charlie fricking Chaplin to win an Oscar for best actor, best writer, and best director.
Tier 1 is clearly Schwarzenegger vs Sly
Tier 2 is clearly Seagal vs Van Damme
Where does Bruce Willis fit into the equation? He had 1 great movie (die hard) some meh sequels, the death wish reboot and the last boy scout. I feel like tier 3 is him vs Liam Neeson
bruce willis and chuck norris would be tier 3
It basically boils down to if you think first blood or conan is better. I like Dolph but he isn't in good movies
talent: jackie (director, singer, actor, performer, coreographer)
charisma: arnold
writing abilities: sly
I gotta say, the biggest tragedy in regards to Seagal is the director of predator 2 was a gay and didn't cast him in it
Movie would probably be considered an action classic if Seagal had gotten to do it rather than B tier
demolition man was originally gonna be seagal vs van damme
Yeah, that would've been good but I really love snypes as Phoenix in it. Can't see anyone else in that role
Stephen Hopkins hated Seagal because he thought that Seagal was a fricking nutcase, a total weirdo. Seagal tried really hard to push him into having Seagal in the movie but Hopkins could'n stand him. Seagal was always a fricking narcissistic butthole, everything has to be about him all the time, you can't do that shit with directors. Directors are always in fricking charge no matter what, act like a c**t and they will have you switched. It's that easy for them
And if Seagal had been it the film would've been elevated assuming the director corralled him properly
When prime Seagal was managed properly he was kino
Yes, maybe. It also depends on thr directors who worled with him. You need to have a special chemistry when working with Steven Seagal or else it won't work at all. Stephen Hopkins never liked Seagal at first place so offcourse Seagal never had a chance to be in Predator 2
seagal is a nutcase but he would've made predator 2 into an all time classic
Danny Glover, Bill Paxton, and Gary Busey made Predator 2 into an all time classic
Danny Glover was a horrible choice for the main character. Seagal fricking up a predator would've been kino
I love Predator 2 but those names should be second billing.
Predator 2 is good ?
I assumed only the first one was good and the rest is a dumpster fire and never actually bothered to see the rest.
It's worth watching for sure.
Just a weird movie that shouldn't have used the original's score.
nah it's mediocre just the latest 'le underrated gem' meme on normalgay social media
also the new one is so bad that even the adrian brody one looks like a masterpiece in comparison
2 is ok. its not the first but it could be worse and theres some cool stuff in it like new weapons.
Give it a watch just don't expect the original.
I still maintain it would've been better with Seagal as the lead
Clint Eastwood
Van Damme and Seagal's prime of 4 or 5 movies each are the most rewatchable imo.
Stuff like Lionheart and Hard to Kill are right in my wheelhouse.
Their best stuff is rewatchable yeah, but for me best action movie is commando.
Nothing else comes close
I wish seagal would've kept on doing above the law/hard to kill/marked for death/out for justice style movies instead of doing under siege
Comfy thread bros
Love the song for that scene
Sly = Jackie > Van Damme > ....POWER GAP.... > Villain Dolph > Prime Seagal > ....POWER GAP.... > Hero Dolph > Fat Bloated Seagal > Adam Sandler > gayrnold homoBlack person
there isn't enough villain dolph to put him over seagal
Arnold screaming into the darkness is Predator is better than anything in Prey, which isn't a bad movie.
We're just never going to get back to that level of filmmaking again.
>No mention of Sean Connery
I know this is mainly 80s/90s but come on
>From Russia with Love
>Goldfinger
>Thunderball
>outland
>the untouchables
>the last crusade
>the hunt for red october
>The Rock
>Rising sun
Dude is the original action star
I don't really consider bond movies to be action movies even though they have action, they would be in their own category
Fair enough with some I suppose. Still some fit
I'd say license to kill - die another day are action movies
License may as well be seagal revenge flick as a bond movie and goldeneye, Brosnan is running around with an AK 47 and the stunts are phenomenal
license to kill is definitely going for the 80s action movie vibe
PATRICIAN: Sly
PLEBEIAN: Arnold
CONTRARIAN: Dolph
You know it's true.
ALPHA: Seagal
watching seagal break bones and clothesline guys into next week never gets old
Reminder that Arnold's unmade kino tops most actors catalogues
>I am legend directed by Ridley Scott
>Doom with ILM effects
>minority report (as a sequel to total recall)
>King Conan: Crown of Iron (Milius as writer)
The worst transgression is the cancelling of Crusade after Cutthroat Island flopped.
What could have been.
Crusade would’ve been israeli propaganda considering Verhoeven was a commie.
Look at how he treats the eucharist in Flesh And Blood
True Lies isn’t much better than okay.
So what?
Benedetta, Elle.....dude still make great cinema.
Arnold. He paved the way for someone like Sly to even get into the Action genre.
probably Sylvester Stallone
his movies were great while still being meaningful in one way or another
Oh yeah Demolition Man and Judge Dredd are meaningful
It actually is meaningful you moronic Black person
which one is coming true RIGHT NOW, Running Man… or Demolition Man?!?!?
and Judge Dredd is funnier than Kindergarten Cop
He’s a communist homosexual.
You have bad taste.
do you know who directed Miracle Mile!!!!!
lmao it wasn’t Verhoeven because then it would’ve sucked and would’ve had a lesbian couple or the nuke would’ve been launched by a priest for no reason or some moron shit like that!!!!
It’s right there on the fricking VHS cover you dumb Black person, Steve De Jarnatt!!!!
If you think I didn’t like that movie umm you’re wrong dummy
I don't trust anyone who doesn't hold the Verhoeven action trilogy in high regard.
Evil energy.
>the verhoeven action trilogy
lmao that’s some shit you made up in your head dumbass
What happened to his wife?
What has lundgren been in aside from rocky 4 lmao
Masters of the Universe
Showdown in Little Tokyo
The Punisher
He actually had the problem of trying to force his stardom too quickly and was in a bunch of shit as a result.
Red Scorpion
Dark Angel
Etc.etc.
Don't forget those
you forgot universal soldier
In all honesty it must be Arnold, he had the best filmography and most fame, Sly is a better artist by a country mile, but his be role was rocky which is not even an action character.
To me:
>Arnold
>Van Damme
>Stalone
Seagal doesn't deserve a mention because he sucks ass.
>Seagal doesn't deserve a mention
Someone's jealous their not a sex symbol
His early films are gold and more violent than his contemporaries.
How can somebody not like Out For Justice
Yeah, the 90s were Seagals prime. No question about it. But after 2000s he lost it. Simply lost it
>But after 2000s he lost it. Simply lost it
issue was he got too big on himself after under siege and the studios bought into it.
Unironically the guy needs a tard wrangler to make kino. And a good tard wrangler requires a more than a straight to video budget
I've seen alot of his straight to video releases
>the patriot
>flight of fury
>out of reach
>belly of the beast
>pistol whipped
>the keeper
>a dangerous man
>kill switch
>born to raise hell
And that's just off the top of my head. A recurring theme starts happening the further in you get.
>Seagal never gets hurt and has a scene where he wears a leather jacket while some chick half his age or younger strips/does the sex with him
It's clear he's being given more and control of his "movies"
seagal barely gets hit even in his classics, they even made a joke about it when he gets a minor cut from tommy lee jones in under siege
in the late 2000s/early 2010s seagal had a pretty decent DTV run
urban justice
pistol whipped
driven to kill
the keeper
a dangerous man
born to raise hell
maximum conviction
all pretty good
if you don't think out for justice is a badass movie then you're a homosexual
This kino is still unmatched
They are all good and we were blessed to have them
>Seagal never gets hurt and has a scene where he wears a leather jacket while some chick half his age or younger strips/does the sex with him
Every man's dream come true
Van Damme > Seagal and its not even close
van damme is kino but he can't touch the above the law/hard to kill/marked for death/ out for justice run from seagal
How has their not been a Seagal biopic?
He didn't become an action star until he was 37.
Crazy life.
>Who is the greatest action Kinoture?
- The pioneer and the one with biggest IPs: Sly (Rocky and Rambo).
- The one with most ecletic movies: Arnold (action, thriller, drama, comedy)
- The one with biggest achievements outside cinema: Lundgren (tallest martial artist, dancer, master degree in Chemistry, most famous actor from his country).
dolph needed better movies to star in if he wanted to compete with the big dogs
>- The one with biggest achievements outside cinema:
Arnold is a goat Body Builder, Dolph is a regional champ, Arnold is the most famous actor from Austria, Arnold became the US governor of the richest state of the usa, Dolph is a gnat and barely in the top 10.
>Arnold is the most famous actor from Austria
much wow
>Arnold became the US governor of the richest state of the usa
Arnold was one of the weakest Governors California ever had, he knuckled under pretty quickly.
>Let me tell you something that might be a bit dangerous. I was raised in Japan. I was schooled in martial arts. I was given the title of master. They take a movie “The Last Samurai.” They have a 5-foot-2-inch little guy, whether he was straight or gay, I don’t know. I don’t care. He had never been to Japan. He doesn’t speak Japanese. He has never held a sword. They make him the Last Samurai. We got 450,000 phone calls [laughs] from everybody in the world saying, “That role was perfect for you. How did that happen?” Most of the people I know didn’t like the film and didn’t go see it. It’s just a classic example of Hollywood and the politics.
the last samurai starring seagal would've been next level kino
Watching these guys' old interviews on late night talk shows is one of my favorite things to do when I'm bored.
this is the interview where he shits on van damme
Van Damme is litterally a wienered up Karate champion, he would've killed this weeb wannabe gangster.
I'm a big fan of both dudes, but prime seagal would've fricked van damme up
>Prime Seagal
>Against Prime Van Damme
Hahahahahahahah! Good one! Most moronic post of today. Frick me
Predator
Rocky 4
Demolition man
Cliffhanger
Tango and cash
Con air
Wrote in no particular order but on reflection stallone is superior
Honourable mention terminator 2
Also cobra sucks
cobra is kino
Its a bad film, put down the pipe
nah he's right. cobra is kino
>put down the pipe
coming from the guy who listed con air in a sly v arnie post
I do what i want
Liking cobra is just I go on Cinemaphile too much an want a rare opinion
irony: the post
near-parody like commando, but not quite as good
>near-parody like commando, but not quite as good
Cobra isn't even close to being as good as Commando
I don’t deal with psychos
I put ‘em away
Not him, and Cobra was near unwatchable. What the hell you think was good about it?
it’s just a cool, aesthetic little movie
and badass too
Mel Gibson has all three of these roiding homosexuals whipped.
1. Cruise
2. Gibson
3. Chan
4. Swartzenegger
5. Eastwood
6. Stallone
7. K. Reeves
8. Willis
9. Russell
10. Crowe
>1. Cruise
He's a madman.
Cruise literally is an action hero
Gibson is a double-threat actor/director of action kino and has range
Chan beats everyone on pure physicality
Swartzenegger is a living cartoon character
Eastwood is another double threat with a huge body of work
Stallone is the lesser double threat who is a bit too shoehorned in roles
Arnold. Predator, Terminator & 2, Total Recall. He picked some good ones.
Arnold is a huge gay and sly is based.
Arnold went right to the bottom of the list after last year, even below Seagal.
Aww, did Arnold hurt your freedom?
Imagine picking your favorite films based on the personal lives of the actors involved.
Your brain sucks.
Reminder that predator 2 would've been an instant classic with Seagal as the star
Reminder that they took it from you cause Seagal was too based
>In an interview with Howard Gorman (via Bloody Disgusting) for Predator 2's 30th Anniversary, director Stephen Hopkins talked about almost casting Seagal in the sequel. Apparently, Seagal really wanted the role and invited Hopkins over to his house to talk about the movie. Hopkins explained that it was one of the strangest experiences of his life, with Seagal showing off his gun collection and offering to launch grenades with the director.
>“I had to go and have a meeting at his house. Which was one of the craziest afternoons I’ve had. […] … it was a bizarre… he’s a very unusual, slightly twisted kind of guy. In the end, I couldn’t see myself doing it with him. He was desperate to do it. I went into his house and he took me into a room where all the walls were covered with guns. He told me he wanted to play a CIA-psychiatrist who was also a martial arts expert who carried a gun. He was clearly a little crazy at the time. And I was like this is different than the way we’re going so I guess we shouldn’t do it.
>“He said, ‘You know, I want you to come to my house in Santa Barbara.’ He said, ‘I’ve got a grenade launching range there, we can launch grenades together’. I said, ‘Yeah… great, we’ll do that’... Sorry, I’m not a fan of his.”
Easily arnold, Stallones best movies aren’t really action focused and dolf isn’t even in the running
