I knew a try hard guy like Carrey in highschool. He was doing his version of JC essentially. It was very difficult to hang out with him because of his need for attention. It's exhausting. And they are always degenerates. This guy ended up a strip club DJ
That would suck ass, having to watch as your girl grinds on random middle-aged creeps, kids who just turned 18, and ghetto trash. The last time I went, that’s all I saw there, and I was so disgusted with myself for putting myself in that situation that I never went again (I guess I was the middle-aged creep that time).
My cousin and I used to sneak in on super busy nights when we were in highschool and shoot the strippers with airsoft pistols. Probably luck we didn’t get killed.
Cold climate, open carry state, pretty easy to stick a plastic pistol in your coat. They don’t pat you down or anything it’s just an old guy in a booth that you give $20
My friend and I would take dollar bills, make them into mini paper airplanes, and throw them at the strippers. One time in Myrtle Beach, the strippers started bending over and spreading their buttholes so we could try to get them in. We were a hit.
Every high school has a few of those. The one I remember as being most obnoxious graduated in 1992 and has spent the last 20 years larping as Zack Galapagos.
As an artist though Carrey is undeniably in a league of his own as a physical performer, plus he can actually do some good acting when he wants to be serious as well. Carrey still totally has it as well as seen in Sonic.
Any gay who signs up to be an actor and then gets annoyed when someone on set as talented as Carrey turns out to be incredibly grating is an idiot. Suck it up and be glad you're witnessing a master of comedy.
Hoffman always seemed like he had the most range and generally tried hard at whatever he did. You have to have a good amount of talent to jump from Kramer vs Kramer, to shit like Tootsie, Hook, and Mumbles, and that's only in what a 6 year period?
The other 2 go-to 'old guys' (DeNero and TLJ) just seemed like dicks.
He's just a working actor. He doesn't think he's special, but he doesn't think anyone else is either. I'd probably find him tiresome but I appreciate the perspective.
Jones was right about having scorn for Carrey and his 'acting' but honestly, he was 100% wrong in how he dealt with it in this particular film.
And I don't mean the buffoonery line, that's fricking classic. What I mean is his performance. He tried to show up Carrey by being even crazier and more schizo than him which is honestly kind of impossible. His Two-face was terrible. And it was a badly written character so it's not 100% his fault, but still. He mailed that shit in. All he does is yell and cackle
It should be noted that a LOT of TLJ's hate for Carey was due to the fact that Jones had been working on a passion project, a prestige film (a baseball biography) for years and it had a lot of hype as far as being a possible Oscar winning role for Jones.... But the film got fricked over when it was released the same weekend as a Jim Carey film (either Dumb and Dumber or Ace Ventura) and got crushed in the box office, so badly that it got pulled from theaters after a couple of weeks and was utterly ignored by critics in favor of Careys film. Jones never forgave Carey for this and should note, only played Two Face in Batman Forever because he spent most of his own money making said baseball film and needed the big bucks he was offered to do cape shit to live on.
>liberal fiction hitpiece masquerading as a "biography" on an american legend

To be fair Ty Cobb being a dick seemed to be the consensus long before that movie came out. But yeah, a lot of biographies are made with an agenda and I don't trust most of them
True, but a lot of the misconceptions or outright lies about him came from the singular source the movie was based on and other people who created baseball retrospectives using his book as a source. TLJ is a c**t for breathing more life into his trash.

Their vending machines are so kick ass. I wish that we could have some shit like that here, but Black folk would just break them. I was watching a video where Japan also evidently had this cool little park where dozens of foxes live, and you can hang out in there with them. That got me thinking that if that would be even attempted here, it would be shut down in a week, because people would be trying to steal/scare/abuse/frick the foxes and undoubtedly feed them junk food and shot. There would also be cigarette butts all over the place.

That's because Americans have this weird propaganda about how letting your cat shit outside instead of in a box of sand stinking your house out is evil so the only ones walking around are feral
No, the cans are tiny, they're way heavier than a normal can too so it always feels like there's still some left at the bottom. Flavour-wise it's very watery, like drinking the last bit of instant coffee out of a mug you forgot you hadn't finished an hour ago
Tommy was probably cranky because he thought he was gonna act in a dark and moody Batman movie and be an iconic villain like Jack Nicholson, but instead Schumacher turned him into a clown, and not even the main clown, but an accessory clown to the top buffoon.
I can back him up on Cox and Strong. I don't think they hate each other though, Cox just thinks method acting is moronic and also expressed concern for Strong's well-being. You could maybe say he was concern trolling, but I don't really see the point in that.

Imagine how much of a wienery butthole you would be if you gave performances like Ace Ventura and The Mask and were rewarded with tens of millions of dollars.
To me those movies don't get enough recognition of a unique comedic talent being brilliant as they deserve. Carrey is up there with the greats of all time as a comedic performer IMO. Whether you like him or not you can't deny his specific talent.
Watching Ace Ventura 2 with my dad when I was 9 years old will forever be one of my best movie memories. We both completely lost our shit crying laughing.
Yeah it was good but the first one was a bit truer to what ace ventura was. It’s was actually pretty violent. By the time AV2 it was completely a kids movie.
>To me those movies don't get enough recognition of a unique comedic talent being brilliant as they deserve. Carrey is up there with the greats of all time as a comedic performer IMO
Absolutely. One of the best in terms of physical comedy, certainly the best in recent decades. Mask and Ace Ventura both top tier.
The thing that pissed me off most about that unfunny homosexual is I had this thing where I would moon people and spread my ass cheeks like they were talking. I don't know how that homosexual found out about me and my bit but he used a rated PG version for that gay ass fricking film.
for context this was like a really funny coincidence that they even had this conversation. Tommy was really tired and stressed out and trying to eat with his family in a nice restaurant then fricking Jim Carrey struts through the door and greets you.
I'd be beyond reproach, its like something out of Seinfeld.
He took on a cooky Batman project to be cast alongside the world's zaniest comic actor in the world. There's no way Schumacher "tricked" him into taking it, he knew was he was getting into.
Then Jones proceeds to try and be just as much a buffoon as Carrey which is a fool's game because Carrey in the 90s was the world's best buffoon on screen - nobody would be able to compete with him.
Should have just given Carrey the Joker and let Jones play straight man.
>Then Jones proceeds to try and be just as much a buffoon as Carrey which is a fool's game because Carrey in the 90s was the world's best buffoon on screen - nobody would be able to compete with him.
Tbh Carrey should have been both characters, so like 3 characters when you include Two Face.
based and accurate post. Schumacher's plan was to obviously make a zany Batman movie (60's Batman for the 90's generation) but Schumacher didn't know how to do zany well. Like you mention, gotta have a straight man to off-balance the zaniness.
Imagine thinking there's dignity in acting. You're an adult play pretending to be fake people. And if you've ever taken a role for money you have absolutely no grounds to stick your nose up.
Imagine the sheer audacity to call anyone a buffoon when you're the star of a capeshit film.
>Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler with Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones as the villains.
If this had been made in 96-97 it would be one of my favorite movies or an infamous flop. (maybe both) TLJ also played a wacky villain in Under Seige, btw.
This isn't a real quote or it's a LARP.
Jones plays a fricking goonish butthole in plenty of movies, and he's pretending to be a straight face here while playing a fricking comic book villain.
I got a better question:
Who would you rather drop acid with, go on the White House tour, and time it so that you peak when you reach the Hall of Presidents?
Carrey would probably get annoying. Jones would open up and probably be way more chill, enjoying the ghosts of dead presidents peaking through the walls and waving to him.
jim carrey unironically gave his fiance herpes 1 and 2, then dumped her, then when she pleaded for his cooperation he gave her sleeping pills and she killed herself. he's a fricking scumbag and deserves jail just for making man on the moon and ruining andy kaufman's legacy
One flares up on your lips and the other flares up on your dick. So if you got 'em both? You were doing some nasty ass shit with some nasty ass people.
I looked up the story. JC seems like a piece of shit, but the story is all from the family of this woman who were suing for millions. The ex also simply seemed severely mentally ill. There is no real hard evidence for any of the accusations. She also got married to some other cuck a week after trying to commit suicide. Like wtf?
canadians are truly awful. it doesn't help that the canadian government has shills that promote canadians as some sort of cultural influence operation. canadians are a palgue
>When a reporter at the Cannes film festival asked the director why Margot Robbie had so few lines and such a small role in the story he replied by saying "I reject your hypothesis"
>Why was she barely in the movie?
That's not a fricking hypothesis, Quentin. That's a question about an observation. A question about a hypothesis would be: >Why was she barely in the movie? Is it because she had to stick her feet in your mouth to get the part?
It's a stupid fricking question asked by a moron feminist who thinks Robbie should have had a bigger part simply for possessing a vegana. Quentin was understandably taken aback by her asinine question. If anything Robbie had more screen time than she deserved, since her Sharon Tate is more of a symbol than an actual character.
Jones was a dickbag for that, and his performance in Batman & Robin was dogshit. But at least they learned their lesson, in his next team up movie, Men in Black, he played the straight man to Will Smith's goofball persona and it worked wonderfully.
Jones' only ambition was that sweet Nicholson money, so being that these comic book movies were still so new at the time, he hammed it the frick up. The problem is that you can't out-Jim-Carrey Jim Carrey.
If the tone of the movie allowed it, Jones would have taken on the role of a man of the law completely scarred by the crime world he is trying to fight and he himself succumbs to it from the damage he has taken and becomes a crime kingpin obsessed with a coin making his decisions. ANY actor worth their salt would have sank their teeth into such a role, but that's not the movie we got.
Its not that Jones is incapable of being goofy or taking on lighthearted roles; its just a situation kinda like how Billy Crystal would describe Robin Williams. If you tried to go as fast as Robin could, he would just go faster. Jones comedic chops suited the universe at the time, but he was outshone by Carrey.
Forever is actually lucky they cast Carrey because he was able to sell that goofy tone. It was a Jim Carrey Movie as much as a Batman movie and so people kind of rolled with the same sort of shit that didn't go over as well in Batman and Robin. The funniest person in that movie was Schwarzenegger, who is legit good at comedy but can't sell a whole cartoonish film essentially on his own like Carrey can
Schumacher caught Jim Carrey at the height of Jim Carrey. This was what, one year after he owned 1994 with Dumb & Dumber, The Mask, and Ace Ventura? His name on the marquee alone gave an entire portion of the audience an immediate idea of what to expect from him in the film and they came in droves because of his previous work. And Jim was definitely TRYING with what it is that he had to work with. There wasn't the added pressure of trying to top Jack like when Ledger and Hamill got his role; he just had to top Gorshin which in and of itself is not an easy thing to do because he owned that role as well. Arnold was great as a bad guy in the movie, the first time he played a villain, but the problem is that it more than 'Forever' was a toy commercial and nothing else. 'Forever had more going for it.
>"I cannot sanction your buffoonery"
Why is this so fricking funny? I think it's because I'm imagining Tommy delivering this to him completely straight laced while Jim is just there giving him the frickin jazz hands or something.
Its because its old-school language because of Jones' age and it was also a very succinct summary of Jim Carrey. I also know people who don't subscribe to that manic, zany humour and to give official permission or approval for behavioir that is ridiculous however amusing it may be for others is a level Jones wasn't willing to pretend to stoop to anymore years after the film came out.
>"I cannot sanction your buffoonery"

ace ventura 2 when nature calls is the funniest movie of all time and fricking kys if you disagree because you're wrong. that being said, jim carrey is, in fact, insufferable and I agree
I love Jim Carrey's performances, but he really seems like he's unbearable to be around as a person. I know he's gotten a bit crazier over time, but if he was half as obnoxious back then as he was on Norm Macdonald I'd lose my patience with his buffoonery too.
>I love Jim Carrey's performances, but he really seems like he's unbearable to be around as a person. I know he's gotten a bit crazier over time, but if he was half as obnoxious back then as he was on Norm Macdonald I'd lose my patience with his buffoonery too.
It seems like he's chilled out a bit since that Norm appearance. He's candid about thinking Hollywood is total bullshit now, but he's doing less of the weird nihilistic thing, he's probably been in therapy since.
Time has vindicated Tommy Lee Jones.

Ace Ventura 2 is underrated. It was really funny.
Yeah it was good but the first one was a bit truer to what ace ventura was. It’s was actually pretty violent. By the time AV2 it was completely a kids movie.
When the 2nd spear hits I still lose my shit just like I did when I was a boy
>WHITE DEVIL!
>I couldn't help but notice you referred to me as White Devil.
>It's how they know you!
>Leave that part out next time!
>"he say":
>"let me guess. white devil white devil?"
>"oh you speak Wachuutu?"
IT'S IN THE BONE
That movie gave me jungle fever at a young age
imagine making life altering decisions over a fricking movie like ace ventura
holy frick
I also did the same with Drive, pic related is literally me
>life altering decisions
It's just a fetish you fricking spaz.
what exactly is the difference
i can feel it. this one changed me
>To me those movies don't get enough recognition of a unique comedic talent being brilliant as they deserve.
Jim Carey was a good guy back then. He didn't lose it until his GF killed herself because he gave her HPV or some shit.
I for one have never been able to stand Jim Carrey and his rampant bufoonery, even as a small child.
for context this was like a really funny coincidence that they even had this conversation. Tommy was really tired and stressed out and trying to eat with his family in a nice restaurant then fricking Jim Carrey struts through the door and greets you.
I'd be beyond reproach, its like something out of Seinfeld.
Tommy was and is in the wrong for ruining Two-Face and making him "we have Joker at home"
was there anyone whose buffoonery tommy lee did sanction?
or was he anti-buffoonery in general
Pretty sure he liked Eli Wallach. They were in the Executioners Song (good movie - it's on YouTube)
fricking gary
Tommy: chad
Jim: cuck
I wouldn't sanction buffoonery either, I'm better than that
I think they're both cucks.
Jim just accepted his place in life, Tommy is wearing a purple tumor on his face acting like he's not in a toy commercial.
This is the funniest thing ever considering that Tommy Lee Jones’ performance in this movie is the worst fricking thing I’ve ever seen
TLJ is a known over-serious homosexual (and a drunk), but Carrey in the long term became an obvious buffonery sanctioner.
Jones 100%
Imo, Carrey would have been much better as Mad Hatter. He was arguably doing mad hatter shit as Riddler anyhow.
based and accurate post. Schumacher's plan was to obviously make a zany Batman movie (60's Batman for the 90's generation) but Schumacher didn't know how to do zany well. Like you mention, gotta have a straight man to off-balance the zaniness.
to be fair jim carrey is a fricking twat
sanctioned post
Imagine thinking there's dignity in acting. You're an adult play pretending to be fake people. And if you've ever taken a role for money you have absolutely no grounds to stick your nose up.
Imagine the sheer audacity to call anyone a buffoon when you're the star of a capeshit film.
>Imagine the sheer audacity to call anyone a buffoon when you're the star of a capeshit film.
Not just any capeshit, Schumacher capeshit
t. bricklayer
Keep seething lel
Why didn't Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler ever do a movie together?
The buffoonery levels would become so great they would collapse on themselves and implode like a black hole.
Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler with Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones as the villains.
Doesn’t even need a tight script. Billion dollars, easy.
>Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler with Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones as the villains.
If this had been made in 96-97 it would be one of my favorite movies or an infamous flop. (maybe both) TLJ also played a wacky villain in Under Seige, btw.
>Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler
i would sanction this buffoonery
They couldn't get the sanctioning, I assume.
Tommyleekino
>You have broken into our lair, commited unsanctioned acts of buffoonary, for that we should kill you
Loooot of unsanctioned buffonery over here
>I cannot sanction your buffoonery
holy frick btfo
I just remembered The Mask 2 and how much of a downgrade it was from the first one because the lead actor was some random homosexual instead of Carrey
You think Two-face's pronouns are they/them?
sanctioned/unsanctioned
Silly doggo.
> You think Two-face's pronouns are they/them?
Two-Face is an actual he/they. But not non-binary, he is EXTREMELY binary.
Jones or Carrey?
Carrey would probably be more entertaining. But Tommy Lee might end up saying some weird shit.
He'd probably just start talking about cattle or how much he misses Ike.
Carrey would probably get annoying. Jones would open up and probably be way more chill, enjoying the ghosts of dead presidents peaking through the walls and waving to him.
Imagine how he would react going to the Hall of President's and seeing Trump's portrait.
I actually dont know TLJ's politics. But Carrey would definitely fling his feces at it
Yeah, but would Trump think about his wiener that day?
jim carrey unironically gave his fiance herpes 1 and 2, then dumped her, then when she pleaded for his cooperation he gave her sleeping pills and she killed herself. he's a fricking scumbag and deserves jail just for making man on the moon and ruining andy kaufman's legacy
>herpes 1 and 2
What the frick is herpes 2?
One flares up on your lips and the other flares up on your dick. So if you got 'em both? You were doing some nasty ass shit with some nasty ass people.
Fricking Canadians.
I think Herpes 1 is the usual mouth sore type and Herpes 2 is the STD.
I looked up the story. JC seems like a piece of shit, but the story is all from the family of this woman who were suing for millions. The ex also simply seemed severely mentally ill. There is no real hard evidence for any of the accusations. She also got married to some other cuck a week after trying to commit suicide. Like wtf?
Jim Carrey should play Freddy Krueger if they ever do another one.
canadians are truly awful. it doesn't help that the canadian government has shills that promote canadians as some sort of cultural influence operation. canadians are a palgue
I'll take Jim and the Canadians any day. Americans are bad at comedy.
Oh shut the frick up the power rankings are UK>US>>>CAN>AUS>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
eu>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

else
This is surprisingly accurate.
gingerbros RISE UP
He signed on to co star with the Ace Ventura guy, he really should have known what he was getting into.
Buffonery is what got Carey on that movie in the first place.
who was in the wrong
>When a reporter at the Cannes film festival asked the director why Margot Robbie had so few lines and such a small role in the story he replied by saying "I reject your hypothesis"
Well, yah, why would Tarantino reply to an unsanctioned hypothesis? Really, that is just buffoonery from the reporter.
>Why was she barely in the movie?
That's not a fricking hypothesis, Quentin. That's a question about an observation. A question about a hypothesis would be:
>Why was she barely in the movie? Is it because she had to stick her feet in your mouth to get the part?
The hypothesis would be that she didn't have many lines.
Carey's a murdering dope fiend sperg New Ager, but Jones is an archetypal stolen valor Boomer curmudgeon version of Tom Hanks.
Time has vindicated Tommy Lee Jones.
Jones was a dickbag for that, and his performance in Batman & Robin was dogshit. But at least they learned their lesson, in his next team up movie, Men in Black, he played the straight man to Will Smith's goofball persona and it worked wonderfully.
>Will Smith's goofball persona
the difference between sanctioned and unsanctioned buffoonery
Jones' only ambition was that sweet Nicholson money, so being that these comic book movies were still so new at the time, he hammed it the frick up. The problem is that you can't out-Jim-Carrey Jim Carrey.
I dont know. I think Jonesy boy at the very least was equally goofy. I bet Carrey was furious that he was being rivaled by an angry old fart.
Its because its old-school language because of Jones' age and it was also a very succinct summary of Jim Carrey. I also know people who don't subscribe to that manic, zany humour and to give official permission or approval for behavioir that is ridiculous however amusing it may be for others is a level Jones wasn't willing to pretend to stoop to anymore years after the film came out.
he simply couldn't designate his waggery
Neither. Jim Carry was an annoying buffoon, and Tommy Lee was also very annoying and cringe.
>"I cannot sanction your buffoonery"
Why is this so fricking funny? I think it's because I'm imagining Tommy delivering this to him completely straight laced while Jim is just there giving him the frickin jazz hands or something.
It's also the juxtaposition of "sanction" (a formal, straight-laced word) with "buffoon" (makes you think of a dancing monkey or something)
Both.
They both play Joker.
>THERE
Those that make movies and those that watch movies.
>is a Hollywood star known for acting like a moron for entertainment
>Takes a moral standpoint against someone who does the same thing
Boomers Are the worst people to ever exist. Doomed the world to misery for generations and were mentally deranged on a wide scale
ace ventura 2 when nature calls is the funniest movie of all time and fricking kys if you disagree because you're wrong. that being said, jim carrey is, in fact, insufferable and I agree
?si=uScnx5cwurL7et4W
might have to do somewhat with him murdering his wife
