I watched a video on the incident. There was a dozen of factors that caused it : the terror attack that overcrowded the airport, the fog, the second plane not following the instructions to exit the runway, faulty communication beween spanish and english, radio interferences, the KLM company's requirements, and his colleagues not having the guts to tell him to wait for a clearer answer.
Arrogant Dutch person thinks he knows best, kills 538 people.
>The subsequent investigation by Spanish authorities concluded that the primary cause of the accident was the KLM captain's decision to take off in the mistaken belief that a takeoff clearance from air traffic control (ATC) had been issued.[4] Dutch investigators placed a greater emphasis on a mutual misunderstanding in radio communications between the KLM crew and ATC,[5] but ultimately KLM admitted that their crew was responsible for the accident and the airline agreed to financially compensate the relatives of all of the victims.[6]
>"We're ready to go, let us know when" >"Okay" >"Okay we're good to go or okay you understand?" >"The first one" >"So we're taking off?" >"No worries" >"Cool" >plane speeds down runway >other plane is being taxied >"FRICK" >accelerating plane attempts to take off early >smashes into the side of the second plane >hundreds dead
Air traffic controllers fricked up then faked the transcript to make it seem like this Dutch pilot with decades of flawless record crashed his 747 into another plane on purpose because he was annoyed.
Watched all the the seasons of Air Disasters last year. Good news is, every error, mechanical or human, leads to a universal change in aircraft and procedure so the same problems are very unlikely to happen again. Which technically means air travel is only getting safer. I still won't fly ever again because there's always that chance of a novel error happening that hasn't happened before that is unique to a certain aircraft or unique human error. That plus the increasing number articles calling for more diversity in the wienerpit, so pilots of the future are all an equally different skin tone whether they are the most qualified to fly the plane or not

The KLM wanted to have this guy as the leader of the investigation before they found out he was the pilot involved.
He was also a flight instructor for KLM and literally their poster-boy.
He had to get it on

>flying on a plane piloted by blacks
Nope.
They need to sell a white pilot guarantee imagine the up charge they could sell
It barely ever happens
Unlucky lottery the odds are so small it’s like being hit by lightning on dry day
What was the main article, the one where the pilot let his 12 year old son take control of a commercial jet?
Aeroflot Flight 593 yeah
That one was really sad, they had a few different chances to save the flight but kept overcorrecting and ran out of altitude
