>questionable tax policy
Hiked the taxes from 1% to 2%.
It's how a healthy democracy works
They hate him cause they ain't him
>Kill Caesar
>create an even greater enemy you can’t defeat
What a pack of morons.
If they didn't kill Caesar then and there, he would be unbeatable later. He was about to leave on campaign again and they would literally NEVER have another chance to stop him, it would be completely over for the republic if he ended that day with his life.
Killing him was a gamble, and yes in the end they lost the gamble, but they made the right choice for the time. Really, the problem is that they waited too long. They should have killed his ass way sooner.
Really, they should’ve chilled and road the wave.
>chilled and road the wave
>while Caesar was handing the country over on a silver platter to Egyptian savages because he was hypnotized by pussy
>while Caesar was actively threatening to send his army to slaughter their way through Rome if anybody didn't do what he said
>while he completely destroyed the Republic and all of its traditions to jerk off his ego
you have too much onions in your diet
HE WAS A CONSUL OF ROME
SNIVELRY
>M-MUH REPUBLIC
just a bunch of elitist homosexuals who acted like buttholes and believe they were better than everyone else, caesar should've killed them all
>elitist homosexuals who acted like buttholes and believe they were better than everyone else
as if that doesn't perfectly apply to caesar himself lmao.
he had the most inflated ego probably of any human being ever.
>dude the republic was in danger, how dare Caesar give prosperity to the average roman who was pushed to starvation because a small elite was buying all the land and working it with slaves for free, by limiting the percentage of slaves that can be used on each plot of land
If Caesar actually cared about the common Roman then he wouldn't have done everything in his power his entire life to throw the country into yet another bloody and destructive civil war.
the republic would've either fell into an outright rebellion, complete collapse or as civil war regardless if left unchecked
caesar was literally forced into civil war
>tries to take over the country and make himself dictator for life
>people resist
>blaming the people that resist for causing the conflict
absolutely moronic
the people didnt resist, he was beloved by the people
the only fricks that wanted him dead were the spineless rats in the senate because his policies were digging into their profits
there's a reason why they had to get out of dodge as soon as the people heard what they've done
pompey was a corrupt egomaniac who joined with the corrupt senate to attack caesar only because caedar was very good at governing his province
>caesar holds parades celebrating the slaughter of romans
>caesar marches his army on rome and crosses the rubicon
>caesar constantly breaks laws and mocks the senate
>caesar steals lands and money to fulfil his random and arbitrary promises he makes to placate his army and weaponize the poor
>"he was a good boy, he dindu nuttin!"
why are caesarians like this?
>you can't defend your dignity!!! you have to bow to the patricians who are sabotaging you!!!
>you can't help the exploited and have them like you back, you are weaponizing them!!1!
kys republican homosexual, caesar was based and exactly what rome needed back then, the republic was shit
surely this gif can fit in less than 3.5 mega bytes?
imagine being this guy.
You probably hate napoleon too you dumb cuck
Because he was a narcissistic populist that was already extremely far in the process of converting the country from a democracy into a dictatorship. The senators had already done everything they possibly could to try to stop him, but he had too many loyal and skilled warriors at his command. Caesar actively seemed to enjoy taking a shit on the countries traditions and trolling the senate. He intentionally made unreasonable demands just to show they they were forced to say yes no matter how vile they were, always with the threat of his army attacking the capitol.
Ultimately everyone attacked him to symbolically show solidarity. If just one person killed him, he would be scape-goated, but since everyone killed him, they hoped to avoid getting repercussion from the loyalists. Also, they attacked him in the senate because that was the only place where he didn't have body-guards.
GIVE HIM THE FLOOR
Why did the people turn on the senators if he was such a prick? They thought doing it as a group would absolve them but instead they all get fricked in the ass.
>Why did the people turn on the senators
Caesar promised and gave citizens a bunch of gold as unofficial bribes to get them to favor him. Senators argued against it but Caesar was already that popular.
>Why did the people turn on the senators if he was such a prick?
because they correctly knew that even if the complaints against caesar were true, killing him would only invite more power struggle not solve the problem. the roman public at that time had lived through sulla and his purges, I doubt they had any illusions about the state of the republic.
This, Caesar got all the welfare queens to love him with unsustainable gibs. He was also a war hero that conquered huge swathes of land. He was like a mythical demi-god figure to the normal people.
And then Octavian did the same thing with his inheritance in order to immediately get a foothold in politics.
All of the most successful emperors/figures in Rome were loved by the people for a reason and that reason was usually money and peace.
what kind of peace are we talking about here, because caesar and augustus both instigated civil wars.
the truly noteworthy person to come out of that era was augustus. If he had been anything less than a god tier ruler and hadn't reigned for 4 decades the roman state might have collapsed like so many other historical nations after the erosion of their institutions.
>caesar and augustus both instigated civil wars
And they were the ones to end them.
Veterans/soldiers loved them because they upheld their end of the bargain. Plus with Augustus, Rome had seen decades of civil conflict before Pax Romana.
I'd give some credit to Tiberius, whatever he got up to at Capri, being in power for another 20 years meant that there was nobody in Rome who could really remember life and politics before the Principate. It helps that despite being the original Doomer, and making pretty much the entire nobility hate him, he didn't loose any big wars, didn't waste money, and generally kept things stable.
For the many
Imagine being such a chad that 2000 years later people are still talking about what you did and why you did it
you could say the same about jesuschrist, and he was no chad, he was a pacifist commie with magical powers
And what of good Solonius?
caesar was pretty much trump and this is what the resistance should have done
jews.
Reminder that Caesar is a simp and wanted to give the country to his girlfriend's son
he wrote mean messages on the wall
he insulted them a little bit
