Probably because, while Hank is immensely charming to talk to and go on a date with, he also has difficulty focusing and understanding the world around him. He'd be great to hang with, but it's difficult trying to imagine him comprehending or tending to the emotional needs of others.

Dean, meanwhile, can at least empathize with the frustration of living underneath the shadow of superscience and all the weirdness it brings, and the desire to be rid of or distant from it. There's a human connection to forge there, and one probably exacerbated by university mandating they spend more time together and as a result her more time away from Hank.

As for why either of them did it, they're stupid teens raised by buttholes and crazy people.

I think that implies that Sirena chose Dean over Hank but in reality I think it's just they fricked because they were mutually attracted and now trapped in a snowstorm. Ontop of Hank just not really fitting into her life.

I also always felt like it was very intentional on Sirena's part. Way too convenient that she was the only other student in Dean's botany class. And the way her smile immediately dropped as she was walking away from Dean was kinda weird.

Dean inherited Jonas' dick size while Hank is a premature ejaculator

They're late into their teens (Is Sirena 19 or in her early 20's?) and have impulsive urges with racing hormones. Their upbringing and living in a crazy super-science life style has caused them to not have the best judgement. Dean is definitely sexually frustrated/repressed and wanted to bone Sirena after being complimented and touched by her. Sirena became less attracted to Hank the more they hang out and his child-at-heart personality kept shining through (also they could never bone because he premature'd leaving her a little frustrated), compared to Dean's manly "take charge" attitude he was demonstrating over the season including telling off The Monarch.

Compile all that and then lock them in a room together with a bed and the desire for impulsive pleasure takes over.

Probably, which is a shame since I'm a sucker for coming-of-age stories and was fascinated by how Venture Bros. allowed its young protagonists to actually grow and develop, both in personality and in appearance.

I'd argue Dean & Hank we’re still given plenty of focus in the NYC seasons, but it just might not feel that way because at the same time, we did start spending more and more time on the Guild (which I personally grew tired of).

Don't need to. I understand the grounds for what qualifies as statutory rape. However we're not talking about the rules of law and how the courts interpret them. We're talking about fictional cartoon characters. How the courts see him is irrelevant. And as such, Rusty's technically not a rapist because he didn't rape anyone.

                Anonymous

Weird semantics, I mean yeah he's not a rapist because he doesn't exist, but in the universe of VB he's a confirmed rapist. Obviously he didn't go out of his way to sleep with a minor, but the fact of the matter is he did (in-universe). The acne and juvenile personality probably should have clued moron Rusty in to be fair
I wonder how courts treat such cases. Do they let you off if the girl in question could undeniably pass for legal?

Depends on the state, if you can prove she lied about her age and that you had reason to believe that she was an adult, like you met in a bar or club, then you have a chance of being let off the hook
Other states don't give a shit at all and it's jail time and the sex offenders list for you

Contract renegotiation as the series went on would make their already shoestring budget even tighter. They probably aren't at Family Guy/Simpsons levels of having to pay VAs millions of dollars each per episode to continue making it but it's easy to see how shows will outlive their "cheap" production life and get killed for it even if they are still popular and in demand.

I'm almost certain that like VB, Robot Chicken was kept on because of Lazzo. He even voiced himself for the first 2 or so seasons. He was replaced after.

Not really. VB has a strong cult following like a lot of AS shows. Plus one of the major strengths and weaknesses of the show is how much of the work is all done by Doc and Jackson, so everything is made at a much slower pace than other shows

Read the art book. They explain the thought process that went into every single episode. But yeah a lot of the Venture Bros is just Doc Hammer and Jackson Publick spitballing stuff off of each other.

I really disliked how they changed Brock's character from S1
In S1 he obviously had a screw loose and barely kept his bloodlust in check. Showed far less emotion. Didn't appear to give much shit about the boys personally, just mostly stuck to doing his job.
Later seasons just turned him into a dedicated dudebro character with a soft spot for his adopted family.
I understand that original was harder to work with and not as sustainable, but I preferred the deus ex machina killer brock tbqhwy.

Venture Bros evolved from a somewhat mean parody of the old adventure shows for kids to what it is now, so character changes were inevitable.

      Anonymous

From an in-universe standpoint, he grew out of it. The episode with Venturestein basically forced him to confront the consequences of his actions and look inward. Brock always had shades of being a father figure anyway, so it's not a huge leap in logic.

Because the show was never about Hank and Dean, it was always going to be about the family and their wacky world in general, and how although your life can turn out to be a failure, it's how you deal with it that makes it worth living.

The show tries to portray as pathetic, but he's kind of a chad. He has ventured through many holes.
    >his former bodyguard
    >the president of his fanclub
    >a mutated fly lady
    >despite how much she tries to deny it, probably Sheila at some point with how she is

What do you think you might be missing? Just watching a few episodes of Johnny Quest or similar shows can help give you the context for what they're making fun of early on. Find a digital copy of the art book they did, the commentary in it is really interesting.

            Walking eye episode
Rusty """invents""" a walking eye but fed up with all the villains there for Orpheus and not him and proceeds to wash the thing outside in a seductive fashion and all the villains eyeing him up and falling out of the line.

The walking eye showed up in the episode the robot spy.

Would you guys say the Season 6 setting change was a good move? I would, it definetly breathed new life into the show. You can tell that the writers were running out of things to do with the Venture Compound by season 4.

I was disappointed it meant less Dr. Orpheus but they were trying to fix that in Season 7 only for the show to get canceled shortly after. I wish we got to see more of Dean in college though I understand the ideas would be limited. Other than that, yeah it was a good move as it meant Rusty was going to have to start trying. Seeing Rusty, Pete, and Billy being a genuine team and Rusty actually trying to sell his inventions was fun.

Can you imagine how fricking boring 7 seasons of this show would have been if every episode was entirely or even primarily about the boys?
They're fun characters, but ultimately there's only so much you can do with the same two characters, when you have this big, developed world with a shitzillion characters you'd be an idiot to not expand the scope of the show.

How is this a bad thing? It's not like it's just for nostalgia. They use it to expand the world and continuity.

On KC Greens old podcast Cartoon Bookclub they have a similar opinion, that the show is “jacking off” with their characters. Never understood the issue, would people prefer a show with less developed characters and continuity? Its what makes VB so unique.

          Anonymous

It depends o how its done, I can see it being an issue if it's convoluted for the sake of seeming complex but I don't think Venture Bros does it.

No, it was where the show jumped the shark imo and I think the move showed that the writers were running out of things to do with the show period except for the dangling plot threads that will hopefully get wrapped up with the movie.
