This. Look at how they handled Covid, MGR, or any E-Celeb for example.
        >Everybody was hyping up COVID to be some world ending bioweapon made by China all while digging up phone calls that help prove their narrative
        >Suddenly the mainstream media s actually starts to agree
        >n-no actually it was fake all along!!
        >MGR is hyped up as an underrated kino and people constantly meme it
        >MGR gets a huge boost in popularity
        >w-well actually it was never good!! Reddit!! Reddit!!
I mean hell, look at the way they’re starting to treat the national socialist ideology that they claim to care oh so much about now. Since the ideology is amassing so much followers, so many people are starting to turn on it. Now anybody who brings up that shit is considered either Reddit or a /misc/tard.
        >TL;DR, the website has no real values outside of being contrarian.

That's not what happened. This is what happened:
          >new disease outbreak in China
          >We: seems concerning, we should prepare
          >Them: STOP THE HATE. FEAR IS THE DISEASE. DON'T WEAR MASKS. HUG CHINESE PEOPLE.
          >disease spreads to the West, collapsing healthcare
          >We: we told you
          >Them: QUICK, CLOSE EVERYTHING (too late)
          >many old people die, healthcare adjusts to the new paradigm and can assume all new infected. Covid evolves and is less deadly than a regular flu.
          >Meanwhile rushed experimental vaccine comes to the market with most of the new capital invested in PR to make up for the lack of proper effectiveness research
          >We: no thanks
          >Them: SAFE AND EFFECTIVE, GET VACCINATED OR YOU'LL DIE, WE'LL ALL DIE AAAAAARRRRRGGGG

Literally this. It was "cool" to shit on Rick and Morty and its fanbase because it was a cultural meme. It was pathetic to watch so many people get sheeped into black-and-white thinking instead of just forming their own opinions. Rick and Morty started to suck past season 2, but the exaggerated cringeyness of the fanbase was never a factor for anyone who appreciates art for its own sake.

nah, its tim and eric shit, all helping to further erode as at the time, which was already suffering for a fricking decade. rick shit was more a final nail in the coffin than part of the actual problem. i miss when cartoon fridays still meant toonami and then a lineup of their original cartoons like dexter, ppg, and then we got the repeat of anime plus red blood

        I don't understand what you're saying
Rick and Morty was wildly successful and practically saved williams street from being nothing but Family Guy and KotH reruns
Tim & Eric always sucked and normies didn't really like it either
Venture Bros and Metalocalypse were pretty good shows as well
cartoon cartoon fridays died because CN didn't invest in quality anymore for their original content and lost a bunch of talent to their competitors, and they did dumb shit like push live action blocks
anime was never profitable for the CN network as a whole as far as ratings, they just aired what Turner Broadcasting could snatch wholesale for cheap

          >Rick and Morty was wildly successful
early immediate success means nothing especially in an age where everything is inflated to seem like its the event of the century
venture bros and metalopyse were decent though i'm not a huge fan. they certainly didn't cause problems
tim and eric though, thats where it all started to go wrong. they took the meta of 'le everything is funny, unicorns! XD' and stepped it up to the point where its still cringe over a decade later

This board unironically did during the first season, once it got popular (with reddit) it became hated. Also mainly due to it becoming noticeably worse in season 2 and just overall bad after that, with the comedy becoming about making fun of the show itself. Pickle rick night on Cinemaphile was great.

I think that's another factor because they were in school surrounded by the annoying people who like the show. I'm at an age where nobody really talks about it and anyone who still does drugs is pretty quiet about it. And I don't really interact with them ever. I could see myself hating it if I was still in school and people were being obnoxious about it.

It always feels like to me these people wanted to confront roiland directly but were too chicken shit so they subversively wrote it into the script and patted themselves on the back.

im not really sure why people itt are acting like people only started disliking the show because it was popular on reddit. the show took an enormous dip in quality after season 2.
before season 3 the shows humor mainly came from strange premises that force the normal innocent teenager morty into dangerous often traumatizing situations.
3 is when the show became too cool for itself, nothing matters the characters dont care, but also theyre trying to take the show seriously as some sort of coherent drama in the same awful way shows like adventure time spiraled, and theyre trying to do terrible deconstructions of characters who have at this point all become sloppy and unlikeable already, and theyre dedicating entire episodes to popcultural references and asinine overtreaded topics like “capeshit is bad!” while also just forgetting to be funny in general.
looking back the obvious decline began in season 2 with episodes like the purge one, but season 2 at least had some fun actually funny episodes like the one with the mind parasites that make you misremember things.

I loved the first 2 seasons, the show dropped with the same intensity as South Park in 97 (im.old). But when they announced it was renewed for 70 episodes I knew it was fricked because you cannot maintain that level of creativity/ shock value for 70 episodes. I can only recall 2 memorable episodes after the first 2 seasons (mortytown and the heist one). Season 6 was the best season since 2, and has me excited for season 7, but that said I cannot recall anything from it beyond theyre going after Rick prime.

It's basically become family guy, fun to watch with the wife after work but zero rewatchability or memorable episodes.

i personally think there are memorable episodes if you are paying attention, the one where he saves bird person, in season 3 there is the citadel one, but those episodes are mostly lore driven, outside of that the show is basically sci fi family guy as you mentioned

It was a great show when it came out, lost steam during season 2 and became unwatchable garbage by season 3.
