It's really smart for what it is. I especially like Metroman, he's my favorite part of the movie.

he wasn't just ugly on the outside, but on the inside as well, it was the movie's twist to contrast with megamind being externally villainous but not really a bad person

Very likeable trio
It was one of those movies that comes out once in a while with a very solid, original concept and good execution, and somehow managed to avoid being ground down into endless sequels and spin-offs for easy money.
also contrasting with the fact Hal decided to turn into a villain out of his own volition, while Megamind more or less was raised a criminal because he was raised in a prison and only really knew how to live and use his talents that way

Until now. Really it's a bit sad that the movie getting recognition after 10+ years led to the shitshow of a sequel series. It's like with Clone High, it keeps happening.
It's a lesson for greedy corporates to stop bringing shit back from the dead. Megamind should've stayed dead but noooo, I felt like they knew it was shit judging from how the guy says "and you're welcome" In the trailer

I'm actually convinced the people who made this literally did not watch Megamind. The very concept of the doom syndicate is a huge contradiction if you watch even the first 15 minutes of Megamind.
The funny thing is, the writers of the original movie are the same writers for the new one and the series.
To be honest I'm just surprized it managed to last this long before being consumed by the IP cannibals that make up modern Hollywood. Even Spirit got a sequel before this film.

Man Pirates really fell off after the first one. Not to say that the continuations didnt make sense in terms of following up the first's plot, but execution of Will's daddy issues, pirate lore, and sword fights were just ok compared to 1. And all based on a theme park attraction. Still like Davy Jone.
