Why isn't more anime this badass. Watched the genre for 20 years and never knew it could be this devilish.

my balls on your chin is devilish
Settle down
that anime street fighter movie is badass and also soul as frick, and doesnt focus on fricking guile lmao
This is one of the first movies I ever watched and the first anime I ever watched, my dad isn't really a weeb but he is a nerd and was pretty early to the trend, as a kid I saw the HNK movie, Gits, Akira, berserk and then some other random shit like Noir, Steamboy and the Tekken movie. Either way Ninja Scroll rules, I only even got the whole wind ninja thing a couple years back when I watched it again, anime mostly looks so shit now by comparison
Which one? Isn't there like at least 5?
the people that like the "badass" stuff got jobs and families and dont have the time for it so all that's left is the deranged trannies that dont leave their rooms
Did Naruto ape this movie or was this ninja shit already established
Km pretty sure ninjas existed a long time before Naruto.
I mean the magic aspect aswell as the rapid style fighting
moron
No concept in Naruto was original. Nothing. In fact, one reason it was such a hit in my opinion is that the ninja genre had already faded into obscurity for quite a long time when Naruto suddenly brought it back to a brand new audience who never saw it before.
nobody considered the ninja genre obscure when naruto was released, come on
none of the rich weebs will fund it. mainstream anime is moe blob and gatcha coomer B8 now. its where the money is at.
a $200 million animated LOTR series would be amazing.
We need to convince Elon to fund a kino anime studio. He's autistic enough to do it and do it right.
it'd be nice. there's classic sci-fi that needs to be animated. like lensmen (the og anime was good but very stiff showa stuff), and buck rogers/flash gordon. and the real men in black comic adaptation.
Dune needs to be animated.
SOLID GOLD LIST MY homie
god bless the weirdo 90's boomer cokeheads at my local video store for ordering so many anime videos while high and letting us kids pick shit out.
That snake b***h was hot, need more full nudity in my animes
Check out Wicked City, Goku the midnight eye, Golgo 13 series and movies good luck finding Queen Bee the second movie. https://youtu.be/ZvoFMPYD9Kk is good as well
Actual answer? There was a bunch of 80 hyperviolence ovas in the 80s.
A schitzo 2chan incel did some murders and his defense lawyer said violent anime made him do it.
Japs being a collectivist boomer society shat their pants at 'today's youth' and actually banned it (not just talked about it for votes). That's why anime now censors even mid-tier violence.
>There was a bunch of 80 hyperviolence ovas in the 80s
Examples? I don't recall having seen many...
MD Geist, for one
That's all anime was when I was a kid. Little kids films like Pom Poko or Astro Boy, or the ultra-violent/sexual OVAs. There was no normie stuff.
Some of it kind of skirted the line, like OP's selection.
What's this damn fine piece of erotica
Filename. Also, have another oldie with a robot punching people in half.
demond city shinjuku is the title, pretty good one. wicked city is another one like it.
>tfw learning demon city shinjuku was just adapting a small part of a long running series
>the based demon doctor chad had more adventures
>we'll never see any more of those in anime form
Feels bad
Pretty sure Ninja Scroll had plenty of breasts and violence bud. Not sure what the frick you're talking about.
wicked city
guyver

last animated japanese moobie i saw was vampire hunter d based on this recommend me more movies please.
seen vampire hunter D bloodlust and ghost in the shell.
Try blood the last vampire, it was the first anime movie I watched
okay.
messed the reply, see
thanks, will check it out needed a series 🙂
Also, Spriggan is more on the vein of Ghost in the shell if you are up for more, it recently got a netflix adaptation that adapts some things that where left out from the original too.
Spriggan's a fun movie but it feels like half an hour got cut from the beginning and you're thrown straight into the story without any context.
Haven't seen Akira? It's one of those that is required viewing
i saw it a while ago actually i missed that one in the list sorry. good film
>Mad Bull 34
Absolute kino, probably one of the only ones I've seen where the shitty dub adds to it
ZHAO LU MENG NEVER FRICK UP
Hyper violence existed but on a scale, not all movies went full gore, but they definitely weren't made for moronic babies in their minds like today. Yesterday I watched Golgo 13 (84) and it was pretty good albeit cheesy. Look on l337, there are some torrents gatherings old OVAs there.
Looks rad, what is this from?
That's Genocyber. One of the better for body horror but an absolute garbage plot.
Garbage in the sense that it's stupid but still enjoyable or rage inducing? With animation like that I might watch it.
It's just poorly written, nonsensical slop. It's just some lazy b movie set up as an excuse to have wall to wall gore.
It was an adaptation of a manga that was cancelled after a single issue, plus they ran into budget issues. The only episode that had a manga for it was Ep1, all the other episodes were based on notes for the series so it just jumps forwards in time at an insane rate. Imagine if they tried to do DBZ in 6 episodes and only had scribbled notes to go on.
>Imagine if they tried to do DBZ in 6 episodes and only had scribbled notes to go on.
I don't understand how to imagine such a thing.
It's like if one episode you were watching Goku fight Radditz and the next you were watching Vegeta die on Namek without ever being introduced. It just wouldn't make any sense. You'll get it if you watch it. In the sense that you won't get anything at all.
lol, how does something like that even go into production. I guess they really just hoped that all the excessive gore, like the scene where children get torn apart by 20 mm cannons would attract VHS sales in the future.
Look at the ending of Game of Thrones.
Just watch some clips set to this absolute banger of a track.
Legend of the Overfiend springs to mind.
reddit tells me it was because most anime is now for television and streaming with stricter standards.
>most anime is now for television
Where did they air this shit before then? These can't be all cinematic releases.
OVA's was the big thing in the late 80's/early 90's. Original Video Animation. It was all straight to VHS and frankly stupidly expensive. You would have to buy three tapes at like 20 bucks each and the episodes on each tape were like 45 minutes. Luckily in the west they often just edited them together as feature releses. This is why it was so violent/pprnographic. Direct to consumer, smaller niche but devoted fanbases.
Because what sells nowdays is "shoujo". Which is the little girl equivalent of ninja scoll (shounen).
If you want something to blame, Spirited Away is the culprit.
That's part of it yeah.
Another thing to consider too is OVA's were able to skip TV censorship standards. And OVA's dont really exist these days because everything has to conform to streaming service censorship.
You can't be serious. 80s-early 90s OVA's are infamous for being ultra violent and full of sex/rape.
>shounen
what the frick is this? i see it thrown around often and im too lazy to google it i guess i'll never know
A genre in manga/anime which is designed to provide moral instruction for young boys as they grow up into upstanding young men.
Shounen stories tend to focus on action, adventure, fighting, and personal growth.
Shounen are specifically made for young boys, but tend to be popular with fans of all ages and backgrounds because they are simple, optimistic, and endearing. Most Shounen incorporate elements from other genres such as comedy, horror, or romance to add spice to the story, further increasing it's broad appeal. Many Shounen are set in Historical, anachronistic, or fantasy settings.
Dragon Ball, Fullmetal Alchemist, Baki the Grappler, Bleach, Berserk, Naruto, One Piece, Gundam, My Hero Academia, and Demon Slayer are all considered textbook examples of Shounen.
Shounen is often criticized for being overly simplistic, shallow, and formulaic, and relying too much on battle and increasing power levels to advance the plot. Shounen is widely scorned by people who crave depravity, degeneracy, futility, and decay.
An example of "anti-Shounen" would be an anime which you don't watch because you already died of autoerotic asphyxiation in your closet.
Jesus christ imagine being this fricking moronic.
FLAK'S ALWAYS HEAVIEST WHEN YOU'RE DIRECTLY OVER THE TARGET, DEPRESSION BOY.
>An example of "anti-Shounen" would be an anime which you don't watch because you already died of autoerotic asphyxiation in your closet.
fricking kek
>If you want something to blame, Spirited Away is the culprit.
The worst take in this entire thread.
>That's why anime now censors even mid-tier violence
That's not true, unless you only qualify violence as intestines and brains (with that intact eye animation trope) blowing up with 10 gallons of blood spraying for a good 5 seconds like they are being pumped from hoses.
And even then, you still have violent stuff being made.
interesting
>I hate people who don't value their lives
Miss Chad protagonist lines like this
90's and late 80's OVA needs to make a comeback.
This is the kind of shit I think of when I used to say "I like anime". I took a long long hiatus from anime in like 2005 after I'd caught up on the old shit and moved on to whatever else caught my eye. Returned to see how it had evolved like 6 years ago. Can't believe what became popular.
Lost Decade.
Mature anime doesn't sell well. A child's anime can sell tons of toys and be on TV when all the kids are at home. A adult anime doesn't sell toys because adults don't buy them and the show is on late night when people should be sleeping.
Ah this takes me back: https://youtu.be/_X5p5bbW4bE
There's so much edgy anime out there honestly.
Anime never stopped being badass
what animu this again
Onimai
damn that shit gay homie
I've never understood how the playboy bunny outfit caught on so hard in Japan
>posts tranime
Bad bait
Because moeshitter pedophiles are more profitable than men
Kinda can't fathom how hard it was historically with wooden boats. You gotta trust everyone cause it only takes one guy to light that shit up and bury all your precious resources at sea
Literally just watch anything directed by the same guy behind Ninja Scroll - Yoshiaki Kawajiri. You'll thank me later.
It was fun when i saw it as a 14 year old in the 90s but watching it again these days it's pretty stupid.
Nice art/animation/editing though - which is a lot more than i can say about modern anime rubbish.
I didn't see it til I was 26. What is stupid about it? The story makes sense and dialog is perfect
A lot of people just watch stuff like this as gore porn and that is as immature as it gets, legit seen people watch this kind of anime ONLY because death tickles their crotch and they tend to be the most moronic people in existence.
Example: a girl got horny for watching this, in highschool, in public, doing some hand gestures like blood was spilling from her mouth.
This is more degenerate than Urotsukidoji. Don't tell me that gay is the protagonist of the anime.
I kept miscounting the demons throughout the movie and I thought for certain there was gonna be 1 guy that had literally been hiding all the way on the ship, could've been the old man's final fight. The snake girl was who I forgot a number of counts despite having an obsession with her
The only anime i've enjoyed is 97 berserk. Other than dragonball as a kid. Granted I haven't tried many
dogshit anime stealing clout from the manga
cyber city oedo 808
i LOVED vampire hunter D by the same director and this looks worth my time too
So popular in america you'd think other animators would try and make good action
>cal arts everything morons
>good animation
Devilish used to be the default.
Actually, I think maybe the reason you never see anime like this at all anymore is because it's all been done before, there's no new devilry to explore.
There's always new devilry. The X / millenial generation are just creatively bankrupt. Give it a couple more years. 2 more generations before we get anything good, if ever again.
i think youll like this
Once upon a time someone here posted a .webm scene of some strange anime where faceless white fairys get eaten / torn apart by plants / abominations. I've only seen it once and no matter how hard I tried I could not find the source or that webm ever again.
What do you think was the last evidence of this pulp trend before it all went to shit? The most recent I know is Hellsing Ultimate (fricking GOAT by the way, in terms of raw animation I don't think it compares to classic movies but in terms of overall style it's a killer).
Goddamn I was so disappointed by Hellsing. The animation is fricking slick but the style is fedoralord city and the writing is full moron.
Youve watched anime for 20 years and never seem ninja scroll lmao? Sounds like a lie. Its one of the most famous anime films.
why is my attention span so shit where i can't watch any anime or shows? just random youtube vids
modern anime is pretty gay yeah, just watch anime from 85-05 and leave it at that
>I watched anime for 20 years! (2023)
so you missed out on all the good shit from the 90s, which is when all the good anime came out
mezzoforte was better than kite
Megazone 23
Venus Wars
The Great Dangaioh
etc etc
You can find newish non moe anime.
You been watching gay moe and Shonen shit for 20 years and avoiding what everyone kept telling you was the golden age? What's wrong with your brain moron
The current anime market is for children, but really deranged self identified mentally I’ll people who don’t stop buying crap
>Why isn't more anime this badass
There was an image of anime directors said they can't make the anime they wanted becuase the money is with the obsessive otaku market who buy figures and other merch. The animator has multiple dolls and says he likes drawing cute girls.
Ironically if things go on long enough they wn't even be able to draw or animate those older anime anymore just because they have a lack of skill and only ever draw moeblobs. It's like how western cartoons are never going back to Batman TAS or older Disney, it's now either noodle arms or CGI as they have been doing it for so long.
>There was an image of anime directors said they can't make the anime they wanted becuase the money is with the obsessive otaku market who buy figures and other merch. The animator has multiple dolls and says he likes drawing cute girls.
the hyperviolent gorey shit was the same, it feels cool and unique now because newbie may only get exposed to the top shelf stuff like kawajiri but back then the market was over saturated with this stuff and most of it was low effort shit just aping and cashing in on the trend, it was still this industrial content mill churning out whatever was selling on the video market
Remember to hydrate yourself anons
DANGEROUS
MOST DANGEROUS
Anime is not a genre, fricktard. It's a medium.
I like that Ninja Scroll is one of those things that everyone here collectively loves, it’s just too based.
