Because aside from the Marceline/Bubblegum kino its a shit series.

The miniseries were 10x better than a movie could've been
I imagine they couldn't agree on what a movie would even be about.
AT didn't really have a central vision or even someone running the ship when Sugar left. It's a show where a bunch of storyboarder use the show as an outlet to do diffrent things with little care of what everyone else is doing.
A legit hate how much of a fricking random anthology series Adventure Time became after season 5
Like, OP's is questioning for a movie but you can tell by Season 4 nobody gave a shit about Finn anymore and was intrested in doing their own little world-building.
You can even see this in the miniseries stuff they've been making where only one has really focused on Finn.
How can you make a movie when only Muto wants to write about Finn and all he wants to do is make it about Finn's puberty/sexual hang-ups?
From what we got of the finished Mountain King episode was the scrapped plan for the movie but basically what this anon stated
they just couldn't agree on anything just led to it getting delayed, then shelved and finally cancelled before the show ended.
IIRC they made Something Big with the leftovers from the movie, so it was already something they put some thought into. That said, Adventure Time kind of sucked at giving plot stuff the right amount of seriousness so it's prob for the best they never made it
Islands and Together Again could have been the perfect plotlines for a movie tho.
Did you actually watch Adventure Time? The time for a movie would have been like...season 2 or 3. Beyond that it just collapses into nothingness. At the point of season 10 theres nothing to make a movie about, and frankly nothing to care about, so its better at that point to just make little miniature things, like those shorts or whatever.
Basically they missed the boat.
shermy and beth movie could happen if they keep making stuff for the franchise
This
see what happen when they made the Horse Show Movie and was released when the fandom moved to other shows like SU,Rick And Morty or Star Vs during that time.
Part of the problem probably lied in how it lost a lot of its momentum. There was time where it seems like Adventure Time was a top of the world, but by season five or six, it really lost a lot of that clout. It was so weird now I think about it. It was so big but it went so quietly that people just forgot.
>Part of the problem probably lied in how it lost a lot of its momentum
Regular Show, We Bare Bears and Steven Universe got movies long after their respective peaks of relevancy hell Gumball is getting a movie years after it got canned. The issue was more in lines with this
only the show didn't have any direction even with Sugar on board which was the point. You can't really make a movie out of something with no real focus to begin with.
Why does it matter? It got the miniseries and it got a shit ton of spinoffs.
>Adventure Time Studios, 3:30 AM
>A dark corner
>Pendleton Ward is scribbling away
>He has finished, at long last, the full story for the Adventure Time movie
>It's not perfect, nothing ever is, but it's as close to the memories of his tabletop games and comic books that motivated him to make that fateful pilot episode years ago
>The story is simple enough, Finn fights the Ice King to save Peebles, and then contends with the Lich. The structure is effective, but it's in the humor where the film truly shines
>Suddenly, the door to Pen's office bursts open
>He is blinded as light fills the room
>Jesse Moynihan, Steve Little, Somvilay Xayaphone, and even Rebecca Sugar walk into the office
>Pen has not heard from them in months
>He hasn't seen Rebecca for years
>"W-what's up, guys?", he asks, a mix of fear and hope in his voice
>"We heard you finished the movie, Pen.", Little says, an eerie smile on his face
>"We wanted to offer feedback.", Moynihan chips in
>Ward clenches his teeth. "There's- there's no need for that, guys."
>"Oh, I insist.", Jesse says, and snatches the 500 storyboards from Pen's hand as he takes out a bright red sharpie.
>"This is no good at all.", Xayaphone says, as he crosses off a picture of the Gumball Guardians and replaces them with Betty.
>"This plot point is too direct. You need to be more experimental and philisophical with your ending.", Moynihan mutters as he tears the final story board of Finn killing the Lich into pieces.
>"I like this panel.", Rebecca Sugar says, as she holds up a picture of Finn kissing Princess Bubblegum as Marceline cheers them all.
>"But it would work even better if you switched Finn with Marceline, don't you agree?"
>"N-no I- I don't agr-" Pen starts to mutter.
>He is met not with glares, but looks of incredulity.
>"Y-yes, you're right.", Pen says
>"I- I just wanted an Adventure, but maybe... maybe that's not what kids want. Go ahead and make the changes.
>AND YOU COULD HAVE IT ALL
>MY EMPIRE OF DIRT
Maybe not appealing enough to mass audience? Weird designs for characters, and a bit "dude, weed!"
>Maybe not appealing enough to mass audience?
AT is CN's biggest success since PPG and only had been beat by TTgo! where by then it was getting old.
It has mass appeal. The more probbable issue is lack of direction.
>Finn never confronted bubblegum over the evil shit she does
Just have ice king and Finn switch places
Boom dynamite
