i dunno
Dark Crisis might be neck & neck with Knight Terrors
Dark crysis started and had most of it's issue last year so i do not think. it counts.
What, did Marvel not release any events in 2023?
nope. There were some crossovers though
Do events that are still ongoing, and keep getting worse and worse, count?
Fall of X is not an event
I know this scene should be tragic, but it's hilarious to me every time I see it.
At this point shit's so fricked that all you can do is laugh. Well except for Jubes' haircut, some things are just too terrible to joke about.
Probably couldn't since Aaron's Avengers was ending so they couldn't foist that on the new run to do a summer event out of the game. Dollars to donuts the next one is about Avengers and X-Men and Spider-Man(?) teaming up against Orchis.
I'm reading much less Marvel these days. I was sticking with Spider-Man, but Marvel going $4.99 linewide, and the new Gang War event being full of books that I won't want to buy, I finally dropped Spider-Man. I was reading Venom and Carnage too, and I dropped them when that Summer of Symbiotes stuff was announced. I am so tired of events.
you are 100% correct, it's something that Brevoort hinted
>Orchis
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orchiectomy
Marvel literally has an event going on right now called Contest of Chaos that is taking place within the annual issues of like eight or nine titles. Stephanie Phillips is the mastermind. Every issue is two characters fighting while saying very feminine one-liners to each other. Knight Terrors is better.
Anon, do yo know what an event is?
That's not an event, and it's better than Knight Terrors and DOCTOR HATE!!!!!!
Doctor Hate is kino.
Dr.Hate has been done before.
So how's DC been doing since firing Didio and Harras?
Somehow worse than ever. Even the New 52 era was better.
I was just thinking 'man DC is not boring me right now. I'm in to these new runs etc.'
And then they ruin the pacing by this non-event that both took too long and was rushed at the same time
Let's not jump to conclusions yet, there's still Gotham War and the Titans event.
>How could you tell?"
when wonder woman fronts the cover you know she's going to be trashy or boring at best.
it would have been better if it was directly connected to Sandman (not Wesley Dodds). As such, it's a wasted opportunity
Not really. I'm glad current DC writers dont touch Sandman with a ten foot pole
I was also thinking how this didn't even need to be Wes in the first place.
If you're still reading DC after evil Batwank who keks, you're just a masochist.
I still read DC, but dropped Metal on issue one.
So is Knight Terrors related to the two previous Dark Knights events?
Literally no but spiritually yes.
What even is this event? Batman has scary dreams?
Everyone on Earth has such scary dreams that they don't really like the justice league anymore.
"I had that dream again where my wife left me and my teeth fell out. Frick the Justice League!"
And all the different scary dreams are essentially zombies running towards them (very scary)
>this is all the justice league's fault because the guy who gave us bad dreams did it because he was a justice league villain!
>worst event of 2023
Good Lord, what the frick? I stopped paying attention to DC outright during Metal because I got tired of yearly events. You're telling me they're doing events multiple times a year now?
It's the inevitable endpoint of where DC and Marvel have been heading for the last few decades. Every single week DC will do an event while Marvel will relaunch every book as a new #1.
>while Marvel will relaunch every book as a new #1.
And then proceed to run it into the ground
That's fine, it's relaunching the next week.
>Everyone now hates superheroes, Prime Earth is now Marvel as DC Mervel refugees editorial wanted thanks to Bendis and Williamson
>Superman has Braniac in his head, so Superbraniac is coming
>Entire run teasing Babs becoming stroggfied by Braniac or her Oracle Braniac bot that is still out there, also her dying after it
>Anti Amazon and Anti Metahuman shit mirrowing Anti Mutant and Anti Inhuman shit from Marvel
>Batman is in coma, no one knows if he got his hand back as his former life or not.
>Damian isolated even from Dick and the others thanks to Catwoman who ruined bruce's life.
>Doomsday is back and he is escaping from hell for round 3
>Earth 3 Waller who is a fat slob worse than Thunderbolts Stormin Norman and Hydracap is forming her own "Avengers" with the help of Black Manta who is now Evil Dr Fate.
AND THE CREAM OF THE CROP AT THE END OF IT Wally is about to lose everything again, including his wife and kids because he is stuck at the nightmare.
Hiring marvel and former marvel writers should be against the law.
>Earth 3 Waller who is a fat slob worse than Thunderbolts Stormin Norman and Hydracap is forming her own "Avengers" with the help of Black Manta who is now Evil Dr Fate.
Anon that's just Prime Waller, the Earth 3 shit didn't matter, and Dr. Hate is obviously not fricking Black Manta.
He woke up in the Batman/Catwoman event, he's fine, but Babs found out about his hand and they just glossed over that.
3 Waller who is a fat slob
This is the second time I've seen this, I'm gonna need some pics as proof now.
Waller is always fat, some artists simply draw her fatter or thinner than usual, she's not from Earth 3, it's just some anon thinking that War for Earth 3 story mattered when it was just another 5G leftover.
It is proven that prime waller is still on earth 3 anon, prime waller is more of viola davis now.
Earth 3 is all negative traits of waller in one person.
I may not be surprised if DC pulls out a Original Sin and we get Waller coming back from Earth 3 with her superheroes to stop Earth 3 Waller
>It is proven that prime waller is still on earth 3 anon, prime waller is more of viola davis now.
You're reading way too much into small design inconsistencies, Waller hasn't even been skinny since the New 52.
Also, Earth 3 Waller, at least according to Future State, is good, unlike Prime Earth Walller.
I guarantee you Earth 3 doesn't even factor into this story, they simply ignored that like most of the 5G leftovers (remember when Ultraman was back in Taylor's Jon Kent story?), this is simply Prime Waller.
>Earth 3 Waller who is a fat slob
That's just regular Waller.
>Earth 3 Waller who is a fat slob
is she as fat as she was here?
what the frick is this art
Ed McGuinness I think.
At least it's not 3D models.
this looks like some 3d WEG shit
Sadly it's by a mega-corporation which sells it for $4.99.
Am I stupid? This doesn't look 3D to me
> This doesn't look 3D to me
Not even the Google maps texture at the top?
>Black Manta who is now Evil Dr Fate.
The person who becomes Dr. Hate has family and friends, the only family Manta has is his gay son that hates him, and the only friends he has is nobody.
Also, Black Manta is part of the black team that will fight Dr. Hate later this year anyway.
I've gotten into DC this year, and there's a ton of books they're doing I've really been enjoying. I've liked Knight Terrors well enough, haven't picked up the final issue yet but I will later today, but I agree that it wasn't worth interrupting everything else that's going on. I'm glad we're going back to our regularly scheduled programming. I think DC needs to cool it with the events. I don't think I'm going to touch Beast World.
I dunno is that Bat/Cat war shit an event?
Yes, the last event before dork crisis
the thumbnail makes it look like WW has that coomer arm
I think Gotham War can beat it in that regard
ENTER
Batman/Catwoman looks to be giving it a run for its money.
Gotham War is already off to a great start to dethroning it
>How could you tell?
By those letters:
>DC
Well, Lazarus Planet was 2 issues + advertisement tie-ins. I skipped Knight Terrors but it sounds like they at least gave the main story 4 issues and made the tie-ins relevant. Lazarus Planet wins "worst event" by default unless Gotham War does something incredibly dumb that sticks around as a status quo for multiple years.
>it sounds like they at least gave the main story 4 issues and made the tie-ins relevant.
The main story was really six issues. The Omega issue wasn't an epilogue, it's the climax of the story. If you stopped reading after issue four, you'd be leaving off with the villain of the story having all the power and he's kidnapped Sandman and Deadman.
I didn't hate the event at all, I think it's totally readable, including the tie-ins I read, but I don't think it was worth dedicating the whole line to for two months.
>lazarus planet
>dark crisis
>whatever Taylors is planning
I gave up on DC comics.
Doom Patrol is really good.
The last DC books I was reading were King's Batman and Morrison's Green Lantern. Neither of those were great but they were at least entertaining. I haven't picked up a single book with the DC logo since that's been particularly good (though I did get some chuckles out of the KT Joker tie in)
Aside from it being another Batman centric event I’m actually enjoying the team up between Deadman and the golden age Sandman. Also the GL tie in where Hal makes Nightmare his b***h was fricking great
