I don't really read cape comics too often, but the idea of an Amazonian warrior having to deal with all kinds of modern day bull seems pretty funny to me. I only really know Diana from secondary stuff like the shows, so maybe it's different in the comics, but I do wish they focus more on the "fish-out-of-water" angle with her more often and trying to adjust to a different world. Like imagining her complaining about the utterly inane villains she has to face on the daily to thr other heroes and wondering if the world was always this maddening and she was just too insulated from it.

It's just a result of what OP is talking about, that WW doesn't really have a good rogues gallery or even a clear chief villain. The Super Friends show is what made people think Cheetah is her archenemy, and they only picked her because they had to have someone for WW and who else would it be?

I really do not understand how Cheetah got so much prominence as Diana’s arch enemy. I really think Dr. Psycho or Dr. Cyber should be the de facto enemy. Both of them make a lot more sense than Cheetah.
Also, I really wish someone would pull the synergy card on “Batman The Brave And The Bold”’s version of Baroness Gunther. It was basically an amalgamation of Baroness, Red Panzer, and Duke of Deception. It made her a threat to Diana mentally and physically and keeping the Nazi angle, which is perfect for Wondie. How no one saw that episode and thought “Let’s do that more” is beyond me.
Because she makes for some sexo fight scenes with Diana. Too bad modern WW books are about how Cheetah is a sympathetic victim when Diana has other villains like Solver Swan to fill that role

Dr.Domino as the head of some international terrorist organization is a good enough hook for any kind of action plot for Wonder Woman (Kidnapping heads of state, threatening to nuke a city, etc)
My only suggestion is that IF modern writers want to use Dr.Domino that they stay true to his first appearance and never explain why he has a domino for a head and that his crimes have nothing to do with dominoes

The issue is that every writer doubles down on Diana being a nutso warrior and her enemies being generic mythical stuff. She’s most interesting when she fights despicable people. It’s why the first season of the WW show was good: It was a pure and honest woman facing off against the worst humans had to offer.

WW should get an enemy who has a philosophy PhD who tries to join the other doctor villains but none of them respect him/her as not being a real doctor, but who turns out to be insanely powerful because they can manipulate abstract concepts.
I think doing kind of a Janperson thing would be cool. Each scientist has a villain faction and they almost become rivals to see who kills the hero first.
That could make for a neat long-term story. At first all of the scientist orgs are pursuing their own individual agendas and fighting each other, but over time in response to WW stopping them they start forming into larger alliances and ultimately into one single giant org that WW has to defeat in the big climax.
The Spin Doctors: seemingly a decent bar band that got lucky with a hit single in the 90s, actually a collective of evil mad scientists intent on conquering Themyscira.
I remember that panel where it's WW telling Supes that she doesn't have a rogue's gallery because she "deals with them" (kills them). No, you don't, lady, your writers just don't use them.

I feel mixed. I like Diana being caring, elegant, and kind hearted but I also like that she has that hard edge Bruce and Clark don't. I like when she enjoys fighting and is a bit more willing to make the tough call when the situation arises. I feel like there's a good balance writers don't seek out. I really don't like the idea of her just being 100% okay with killing either. It's one thing if she's willing to make the call when necessary, it's another for her to be a killer. Clark and Bruce wouldn't accept her if she was just a pure murderer.
There's also the actual reason why these characters can't be killers: you don't develop a good rogues gallery that way, which ultimately harms the character. A good hero needs good villains.
I get the impression her being this ruthless killer seems to rooted in being an actual fetish for the writers, rather than any attempt at giving her character any nuance. Like, I saw this one tweet where this creep was drooling over the idea that Diana should be this blood soaked Xena clone where she's ripping people apart like a feral animal. The thing is that recidivism in capeshit is at 100% Wonder Woman is incapable of redeeming anyone long term and everyone knows it which makes attempts at it ring hollow. And yeah, if she kills her enemies then they'll just come back eventually anyway but at least resurrections might take a while and or require some creativity to justify.

These four are all perfectly fine villains. Diana doesn't have the sheer scale of high-quality rogues that Superman or Batman have but she's got a few decent ones.
Ares in particular needs to get used way more often. He should be used in more Wonder Woman-centric JLA storylines, he's more than powerful enough to be a Justice League-level threat.
Not to mention he's a great thematic foil to her. He's a man, she's a woman; he represents war, she represents peace and kindness. It's nice symbolic stuff.
Hell no. If you're going to use a mythology character, Circe is FAR better since she's a much better thematic foil to Diana. Manipulative sorcerers who sees humans as tools vs. heroic warrior of truth who wants to empower and uplift humans. One represents the worst aspects of mythology, while the other represents the best aspects. Plus, Circe is barely utilized while Ares is far too often utilized

I've always wanted to make a villain design like this, but I've never really been able to settle on the object that would serve as his head. I liked antique radio for a while, but I didn't want to restrict him to being themed around music or sound in general.
That's clever, I had considered that. Domino here apparently doesn't even have anything to do with dominos, so I guess it's fine to branch out from the obvious anyway. He's always been an all-purpose baddie in my head, kind of retrofuturistic aesthetically, but this particular piece of tech is much too old for that vibe. Still, Chairface used a laser to write his name on the moon, so I'm probably overthinking things again.
The TV head from The Property of Hate has a really great design, though he's not a villain, not exactly. Are there more obscure ones like Domino? Batman has a Camera Man, but it's explicitly a helmet in his case.
Comic writers need to remember how set up villains in small/short stories .
Then have them return in new crimes later on. Not everything needs to be a 5 parter or "all the bad guys team up" story.

If you go by her full history, only include villains with at least three appearances, and count ones even if they haven't been used in years, she has an absolute frick ton of villains because like most pre-70s characters she's from the era of one and dones and backups in every issue.

Dr.Domino as the head of some international terrorist organization is a good enough hook for any kind of action plot for Wonder Woman (Kidnapping heads of state, threatening to nuke a city, etc)
My only suggestion is that IF modern writers want to use Dr.Domino that they stay true to his first appearance and never explain why he has a domino for a head and that his crimes have nothing to do with dominoes

The issue is that every writer doubles down on Diana being a nutso warrior and her enemies being generic mythical stuff. She’s most interesting when she fights despicable people. WW should get an enemy who has a philosophy PhD who tries to join the other doctor villains but none of them respect him/her as not being a real doctor, but who turns out to be insanely powerful because they can manipulate abstract concepts.
I think doing kind of a Janperson thing would be cool. Each scientist has a villain faction and they almost become rivals to see who kills the hero first.
That could make for a neat long-term story. At first all of the scientist orgs are pursuing their own individual agendas and fighting each other, but over time in response to WW stopping them they start forming into larger alliances and ultimately into one single giant org that WW has to defeat in the big climax.

I feel mixed. I like Diana being caring, elegant, and kind hearted but I also like that she has that hard edge Bruce and Clark don't. I like when she enjoys fighting and is a bit more willing to make the tough call when the situation arises. I feel like there's a good balance writers don't seek out. I really don't like the idea of her just being 100% okay with killing either. It's one thing if she's willing to make the call when necessary, it's another for her to be a killer. Clark and Bruce wouldn't accept her if she was just a pure murderer.
There's also the actual reason why these characters can't be killers: you don't develop a good rogues gallery that way, which ultimately harms the character. A good hero needs good villains.
I get the impression her being this ruthless killer seems to rooted in being an actual fetish for the writers, rather than any attempt at giving her character any nuance. Like, I saw this one tweet where this creep was drooling over the idea that Diana should be this blood soaked Xena clone where she's ripping people apart like a feral animal. It got rightfully called out and dogpiled, but I can't help but wonder if a lot of modern writers share similar sentiments, only held back by people on top tard wrangling them down to normalcy.

The thing is that recidivism in capeshit is at 100% Wonder Woman is incapable of redeeming anyone long term and everyone knows it which makes attempts at it ring hollow. And yeah, if she kills her enemies then they'll just come back eventually anyway but at least resurrections might take a while and or require some creativity to justify.

These four are all perfectly fine villains. Diana doesn't have the sheer scale of high-quality rogues that Superman or Batman have but she's got a few decent ones.
Ares in particular needs to get used way more often. He should be used in more Wonder Woman-centric JLA storylines, he's more than powerful enough to be a Justice League-level threat.
Not to mention he's a great thematic foil to her. He's a man, she's a woman; he represents war, she represents peace and kindness. It's nice symbolic stuff.

Hell no. If you're going to use a mythology character, Circe is FAR better since she's a much better thematic foil to Diana. Manipulative sorcerers who sees humans as tools vs. heroic warrior of truth who wants to empower and uplift humans. One represents the worst aspects of mythology, while the other represents the best aspects. Plus, Circe is barely utilized while Ares is far too often utilized

If the Wonder Woman movies were planned better, they could’ve been a trilogy that ended with Ares instead of blowing their load.

I've always wanted to make a villain design like this, but I've never really been able to settle on the object that would serve as his head. I liked antique radio for a while, but I didn't want to restrict him to being themed around music or sound in general.
