my opinion is definitely tinted by nostalgia but I prefer 2 to 3. A lot of the mechanics feel more fleshed out and just honestly more interesting to play with. You can still get ganked by a regency or a strong council, but the council can at least be overruled by being a tyrant. Piety and prestige requirements feel less restrictive as well if you know what you're doing

Language plays a role and can define you. I've learned to speak French and Spanish. More or less. It brings out different parts in your personality, just because of the way the language is built. You would associate words, thoughts and ideas in another language just because of their proximity. A simple example of that would be rhyming: >Drapeau, gateau, chateaux, cervaux
You'll place these words closely together because they rhyme. Translated to English, the words are: flag, piece, castle, brains.
You would never have placed these words together in your own language.
English, Dutch and French are pretty close together, the further back you go. We have words in common in archaic speak. Words that will be the same for all three languages. Scottish too.
I'm not a language expert, but yeah, they're things you notice.
