his netflix hotel die hard parody with the lonely island crew was actually really funny
maybe if you’re 13
Nofun-having homosexual
Never heard of this before. Whats it called?
It's called Game Over Man, dude hangs dong
It was trash
shitting on marvel capeshit is played out. at this point everyone knows the mcu is garbage. he isn’t wrong at all but he’s not saying something that is revealing in any way.
could say the same about this post on this website. I swear I've read this post 5 times before
It’s played out on Cinemaphile, on normie media it’s only been going for about three months.
Frick off Disney shill
real answer is it's just rippling through culture. yeah it's old news to people who pay attention, but the awareness is spreading through the normies, picking up steam.
That's a weird ass disneyshill damage control to stop us from making fun of your flops but okay
Jumping on the MCU you shit train is late to the game.
This. If you weren't saying it's shit at the time of Iron Man 1 I don't want to hear it.
the first movies were semi-interesting in watching where this goes. guardians 1 was actually pretty good. but then it all went full slop and i stopped watching
Guardians 3 was kino
I find the guardians movies the most reddit of all but to each their own
How are they reddit
Cinemaphile calls everything even remotely popular reddit. I don’t even understand why they still use that as an insult. This place has been incredibly mainstream for over 15 years now
They practically started the quipfest trend and have that reddit-specific humor throughout.
>They practically started the quipfest trend
zoomer take
The MCU prior to Guardians wasn't imitating these movies so much. Once the first Guardians came out, everything shifted tonally to ape that style. I've even heard someone else point this out.
it started with ironman and sitcoms well before this
Guardians is the only actual good series from marvel
Iron Man has a lot less quips than Guardians. In any case, whether you like them the most or not, they're the most tailored to the Reddit crowd, and very much in line with what the dude in OP is talking about.
Guardians 1 was the exact point when the MCU started getting way too quippy and was the beginning of capeshit's downfall. It's garbage slop.
Iron Man 1 was good, stfu
Now the guy from Pitch Perfect Bumper in Berlin is going to lecture us on comedy.
That's Adam DeMamp, you Black person
is he in the early stages of being Bogged?
Holy shit, everyone fricking hates the MCU now or what? Every day a director comes out shitting on it. I wonder what Feige is thinking right now.
Meh like anything the tides have turned enough that people are comfortable saying shit now
Blood in the water. People held their tongues when they were making billions but now their movies are flopping
I never liked the MCU but I do watch and enjoy the Spider-Man films. I'm not contrarian enough to hate them
how did Marvel, in the capeshit genre, affect the comedy genre?? this homosexual is making excuses for his weak jokes
Because most of the MCU movies are shitty ass comedies.
Everything became more smug and quipy
marvel humor (or more specifically joss whedon) influenced a lot of terrible movies/shows over the last decade. it’s called millennial writing.
You watched a youtube video or what, is this some push happening? Whedon isn’t millennial, it was known as a Whedon thing way before some youtuber served it up to you.
goddamn. you can’t say anything on here at all without somebody getting pissed off at something.
Hahah, don’t crumble already, zoomer boy. You can’t say anything back because the talking point hasn’t been served up to you yet? You guys get so tight when you can’t stick to a meme script.
kys
zoomer in a total loss of words
take it easy man, sometimes you're just the homosexual that's wrong and everyone rightly takes a dump on
millennials really are the most embarrassing generation
weird way to spell boomers and zoomers
It's 'millennial' because it's first adopted for shows made targeted to millennial audience.
Now all current millennial writers write in the same way, because it's what they grew up with.
Whedon wasn't making shows when he was a baby, when he was born is irrelevant. '64 is Gen X btw.
>making up bullshit
1965 starts genx morons
idgaf what israelitegle says 1961 is and always will be the cutoff
it's petty semantics to argue over 1 year anyway. Whedon wrote for Gen X audiences. His voice and style mostly certainly carries those sensibilities more. If he's technically a boomer just proves his a moron and should have been held back a year or two.
Its not petty at all, its 12 whole months.
>ackshually he's one year away from Gen X
Kek, he's Gen X. He was born the same year as Keanu Reeves, Eazy-E, and Chris Cornell. 1964 is Gen X as frick.
seethe more
>1964 was the last year Coins were 90% silver
The metaphor there is pretty strong
>Now all current millennial writers write in the same way, because it's what they grew up with.
or because thats what the studios respond to and want.
same reason its all gays and women in the writing room.
Actually thought it made way more sense for him to be gen x, that writing is peak gen x to me, remember trying to watch G4 as a kid and it was the lamest shit ever. Think “millennial writing” meme is just millennials being to zoomers what Americans are to non-Americans and whites are to non-whites, kind of a complex and a need for them to be bad. Zoomers have the exact same presence as ESLs, same lack of self-awareness, same aggressive projecting. The global/diverse/zoomer internet is so insanely insecure.
>It's 'millennial' because it's first adopted for shows made targeted to millennial audience.
That's dumb. Millennials also had some of the most self-serious films targeted at them, even blockbusters like Bond and Nolan's Batman.
But it's all Gen X behind the wheel.
You can't please everyone. Personally I'm all for stripping the average movie entirely of humor, even that "one scene" as Whedon would put it, but a lot of people get angry at that too.
And especially when it comes to capeshit, people complain when there's quips but rage even harder when there aren't.
who are these people in your story exactly? surely not people you talk to in life. TOP FRICKING KEK!
It's pretty common, even here.
>MCU bad because quips, but also, serious capeshit bad because no quips
And you can certainly make the argument that all capeshit is bad, except this applies to ALL movies now. They either have too many quips or they're too self-serious. It's grating. Also, American humor has never been all that great. The ZAZ comedies like Airplane & Scary Movie are funny, but ironically, they were written by israelites.
>didnt answer the question
found a schizo
It's a commonly observed phenomenon, and yes, I've heard these arguments irl too.
Most people can't seem to make up their minds and ironically come to the exact same conclusion Whedon did in this quote.
I have a theory that even someone tolerable themselves can ruin things just by encouraging hacks to ape them
For example, I don't mind any of Tarantino's movies yet there's so many directors, especially in the '00s, that needed to be fricking strangled for trying to make their own "Tarantino movie"
People who watched Buffy and were fat gay morons that got writing jobs did more damage to Hollywood than Joss Whedon himself did
>marvel humor (or more specifically joss whedon) >it’s called millennial writing
Whedon was born in 1964. He is a boomer by definition. This fact makes more sense anyway.
1964 is genx
you mean millennial israelite writing
Whedon writing and millennial writing are different. Whedon writing is quintessential gen x quips and bathos. Millennial writing is something far far worse and not nearing saturation yet because for some god forsaken reason it is getting praise from morons. Millennial writing is overbaked and overwritten verbal exchanges. The perfect example is The Bear. Every scene in The Bear grinds to a halt while the characters enter a moronic verbal sparring match comprised of twitter clapbacks. There is never an authentic moment because everything is too clever and intentioned but delivered without an iota of pause or hesitation. It's an entire writing style of cringe l'esprit de l'escalier.
You mean like Succession? God that shit SUCKED.
don’t play dumb
If you watch something like Our Man in Havana or The Horse's Mouth you'll find an interesting story where some situations and characters are funny, but there is still something in there about hope and beauty.
Watch something like The Other Guys or Tropic Thunder and you'll have an interesting story, a message and tons of funny scenes that work alone.
With Marvel you get just quips, meaningless small jokes that could be cut from the movie and nothing would change. Marvel got like 20 movies and 10 different shows, but there is nothing remarkable about it.
Hey Anon! Good luck watching just 2 minutes of this video without turning it off!
>script written by Joss Whedon
Could not do it
I think I slipped into a coma at some point watching this.
The actual answer is that studios realized they could funnel the money that would usually go to mid-budget comedies into their too-big-to-fail blockbusters and get the usual comedy crowd to go to those instead by tossing jokes into the script. This essentially killed the comedy film genre (at least from a business standpoint) and threw off the career track comedians had been relying on for decades. Notice how SNL cast members staying for like 10+ years is becoming the norm when they used to only do a couple seasons? It's part of the same issue: the movies they usually graduate to aren't being funded anymore since studios are combining comedy+action, giving the comedy actors nowhere else to go.
Even wrestling got infected by lighthearted capeshit writing.
I don't know who this is but he's half right. Endless Whedonesque quips and Jon Stewart-style "looks at the camera with incredulous smirk" have become the zoomer diet for comedy
The other half of it is the capeshit audience, grown up on progressivism, can no longer tolerate some of the edgier and non-politically correct material that used to be key to pre-Marvel comedy
In the 20-something MCU movies, how many characters look at the camera with a smirk?
I can't think of any
Marvel and that America is entirely for the globe now which includes media, comedies don’t translate well while Marvel and shit like Barbie translates well, everything is written for people that don’t fully speak the language, The Rock is a massive celebrity and I don’t know anyone that gives a shit.
bro you were in one funny show like 15 years ago frick off
I don’t think I’ve ever actually laughed at him in anything. Has he considered being funnier? Not praising Marvel here, just seems whiny on his part.
POO DOLLAR HAHAHAHA POO DOLLAR
Devine filmed full frontal nudity and shook his dick around like a literal homosexual
>shook his dick around
how is this gay? I do this for my gf and smack her in the face
I use to do this to my wife when she watched the flash. I'd zoom into the living room nude and smack her in the face with my dick then point at her and go YOU ARE ALREADY CREAMPIED
>IT WAS ME MARY!
Does he explain why or is OP just going to continue to be a gay and not post a link
If you let yourself be photographed next to the Netflix logo your opinion is meaningless
This guy has literally never been funny and marvel sucks anyway. Its like a homeless person calling another homless person a broke ass homie
Punchable face
Workaholics fricking sucks
You wouldn't get it. You gotta be fresh.
This. Not saying he's the GOAT but I prefer his comedy compared quip #12203040 by some moronic hero I don't care about. Workaholics wasn't anything special and that's why I liked it. It was dudes doing ridiculous stuff and it got a bit much by the end like everything but it was good for the time. I barely had friends and liked it still, it didn't take itself seriously at all when everyone was sitting their pants over Obummer and other shit like the economy.
It basically perfected represented me and my work friends. For us, it was kino. But I recognize that it's just average and comfy to the common man. And that's fine.
Well that's what I mean, it was kino by not trying to be. The actors knew it wasn't "The Titanic" or whatever the frick and I feel like that makes it a million times better. It was dudes chillin, and being fresh. All a show needed at the time.
>I still hurt my sides thinking how real the Chris D'elia episode was to reality
the Chris D'elia episode comes off like it was written by a fricking oracle
Lmao right? I wonder if they knew and are just as fricked up or he's that "good" and just hid his power level that whole time for his fetish.
This. Any comedy now is at the expense of whites or the jokes are completely dumbed down or everything is a one liner. Like the joke box blew up or died.
He's great in the only good comedy on tv
I've never seen a homoerotic coupling that I've wanted to see end in gay sex more. It's not even that I'm gay, or the idea is hot, or it's romantic, or any shit like that. It's just pissing me off that these two obviously gay men are not kissing. It feels dishonest somehow.
I do enjoy the show though. A lot more than I thought I would. Christian kino.
You should finish the current season
I did. They still haven't fricked. I can see that they are getting there. Also Keefe is Jesus.
This is the gayest fricking thing I've ever seen from an allegedly straight person.
You probably want Keefe to stick a butt buzzer in you.
What I really want is for Keefe to forsake pleasures of the flesh and reveal himself as the resurrection of Christ. But the gay shit is bothering me in the meantime.
since OP is a gay
Comedies were on their way out before Marvel movies became a brand.
>This shit effected even horror movies ffs just look at the shitty Halloween 2018 reboot
Yeah and the hack director of that is going to quipify the exorcist next
Disgusting
I agree with his take but all his movies suck. Workaholics had like 2 good episodes
not allowed to make fun of anyone. austin powers couldnt be made today for instance. half the jokes and very premise are "toxic", "problematic", etc, etc. Tropic Thunder is literally the last comedy ever made and will never be allowed again because people laughed at shit you arent allowed to in wrong think world. a modern comedy is just gross out humor, weed dood or insulting white people, white culture and men. no other comedy allowed. which means no comedy allowed.
Post his legs
Halloween 2018 was the only other good film in the franchise aside from the original and Zombie's Halloween 2. This is a fact.
Legitimately the most stupid thing I have ever heard in my life holy shit
All Halloween sequels were terrible so no, it's not a controversial take at all. Most people already agree with me, aside from Zombie part 2.
Halloween III has been pretty widely appreciated after people got over muh Michael Myers not being in it. I'll back you up on 2018 being one of the best but definitely not RZ2.
Most people? Yep that's why the movies were passed around so much on TV and movie stores etc because most people agree with you...homosexual. how are you going to call all the sequels shit but then praise garbage like the 2018 one? have a nice day
>there are newbies on Cinemaphile that don't like workaholics
Disgusting. Worst Cinemaphile timeline.
probably just some brownies. because 4can is FULL ON FILLED with brown userbase. and they just dont like seeing white men doing white men things.
im black and love workaholics. some people are just snobs
also rest in peace jetset
yea black unironically hate the browns just as much as whites.
Ask me how I know you're an underage b& homosexual
Based, Cinemaphile is healing. Frick comedy, such a reddit genre.
Marty called it years ago, these cowards just sat on their hands till the flops started.
He's senile, the Irishman was the work of a hack
I'm tired of marvel too but his take was moronic. He said when talking to steve o that marvel movies are so big that people go to the theater expecting giant budget movies and that's all audiences want to see now so it means studios don't make the mid or small budget movies.
Even in the comments everyone said that was moronic. Who fricking picks a movie based on budget? literally no one.
that's literally how it is tho
Do you actually pick movies based on budget?
whatever you think of the Sound of Freedom it did very well and was low budget. Plenty of big budget movies have bombed this year. People ant to see good movies, and if a decent comedy came out people would be lining up to see it.
Making comedy just chuckle worthy for the past decade or so is what's killing comedy. Even Dave Chappelle is guilty of it.
No, the danger hair trannies have made comedy tame.
now THIS is a comedy
You know the thing that irks me the fricking most from mcu is the line what's the play. I hate it and every other property everywhere started and keeps using it.
Are you talking about the MacGruber Cinematic Universe?
> HECKIN QUIIIIIIIIIPS
feel free to not watch things you don't like dipsticks
i liked when people could make racist, sexist jokes and even those people who the joke was about participated, because they knew it was just that, a joke.
listen to the pod
I get what he is trying to say. However comedies that are getting released have been usually shit. Example his latest comedy The Out-Laws was fricking shit.
It's no suprise the audience will watch a superhero movie for comedy elements.
>My dude adam is just shooting the shit with his bros on the pod and VARIETY picks it up
lmao this is incredible
comedy movies used to be fearless. regularly racist and sexist if it was for a good laugh. now they are too scared. audiences can tell it's a neutered experience.
Barbie had some good laughs and that was as woke as it comes. Ricky Gervais is "fearless" but he is one of the most unfunny people I've ever seen. Comedy just needs to be witty again. That's it.
The MCU has its flaws sure, but filmmakers taking the wrong lessons from its success are even more moronic.
I guarantee if you pressed him on this he would freeze up, he's just saying shit to get his name in some headlines and clearly it worked.
My theory is better and im taking over the thread.
Buddy cop films, pairing a two different races were MK Ultra tier weapons in defeating racism. Actual Ex caliber swords that would end racism. Lethal Weapon, Rush Hour, MiB etc. To the point its military grade success and when shit hits the fan again with race relations. We will see an onslaught of buddy cop films
I was watching Strange New Worlds, really enjoying it, when outta fricking nowhere, they bring in some time-traveling guests from “The Lower Decks,” and they brought their “tone” along with them. Seeing it made me fully appreciate the depth and breadth of Joss Whedon’s crimes against art and drama. Rick and Marty, The Lower Decks, and a host of other shows with that same flippant style of writing all tie back directly to Joss Whedon and what he introduced to the MCU. When every character’s Spider-Man, none of them are.
The market is larger now. You know the world population increases each year right? You know that more people transition from poverty to middle class each year right?
You can litrially produce trash and it it'll make a billion as long the Chinese watch your film, or there's no other movies out competing for the same audience.
25 years ago you had to be the best of 30 films in order to make cash... look as what movies were made in 1997, 98 or 99. A lot are classics now, and didn't make shit at the time becuase of competition.
This was posted in the wrong thread, it was meant to be in the one where a homosexual is whining Oppenheimer and Barbie are making a billion but classic films 30+ years ago made shit
he's wrong, comedies have been bad before mcu was even a thing
