Shit like this is exactly why piracy is good and will always exist. I'm always in support of bootleg copies people make when legit ones are not, or may never be, an option.
never hurts to diversify storage. >file corrupts, but still have disk to re download >disk degrades or too scratched, but have file to redownload to new disk

Anon a few hardrives or DVDs won't fill up a garage .
You could keep it in a large chest and probably never fill it up since Cinemaphile thinks everything sucks anyways
I may be wrong, but if something is written off as a tax write off, the company needs to stop making profit off that something or else they'll owe a frickton in taxes.
>like they're retconning it from existence
Yes, as part of the tax write-off. Could you try and read? You don't get to write it off AND keep making money off of it. That's called tax fraud.
WB will no longer own it, and then the government will then own it.
But the government is not a video manufacturing and distribution centre, so it goes in some vault, never to be seen or used again.
In the past, THIS is the type of situation that produces actual lost media, expect this show has already been spread to the corners of the internet, so it will never qualify for lost media.
At worst, it becomes "inconvenient for the 12 people who care about it, to find it".
You already own nothing. Your house not being seized is a kindness, and will only be kept as long as its affordable.

my opinion, if you write something as tax off it should become public domain.
I mean once you write off you basic saying you dont care about this piece of work anymore
That would defeat the point of it being a tax write off as it creates a loophole for the media to be used to gain profit by anyone, including the ones who originally got the tax write off

Final Space got a full 3 season run AND getting heavy promotion AND heavy discussion online AND dvd releases
This show didn't get fricked over in the slightest, especially compared to other cartoons I follow
Yes and? House of Mouse isn't even legally streamable and never been on Disney+ despite being the company's mascot show
His show did for awhile AND got a dvd release, his show is not fricked over and his coming off as a pissbaby
I'm not, because their homosexualry sucks too, I'm just saying Spacegays and Traingays pretending their shows are the most fricked over pieces of media of all time and cry over it legit pisses me off when I follow shows that got only one season and never get attention from online crowds or ever got advertised or anything else and would never get the amount that these "fricked over shows" got
You follow shows that were seemingly unpopular. Sucks, but that's how the cookie crumbles. This sucks in particular because these are shows that theoretically did everything right yet are getting fricked over because of moronic suit decisions. It makes sense that their larger fanbase will have issue with it.
>Yes and? House of Mouse isn't even legally streamable and never been on Disney+ despite being the company's mascot show
Wheres, the 'but'? Where's the 'gotcha'? You just named another awful instance of a show getting erased and then pivoted. How does that help your argument?
Congratulations, you support something that Western culture has been engineered to tolerate thanks to the influence of 18th-century drunkards knocking boats over because of a tax.

Have corporations owned by families and small groups of people who benefit far more from ensuring the long-term health of the company rather than corporations that are publicly traded and owned by large investment firms and billionaires who only care about enriching themselves and their clients?
Y'know, like what Japan does, a lot of their largest publishers for instance are family-owned operations, including Shueisha, who publishes Shounen Jump.

Actually, my mistake, I confused Shueisha with Kodansha, the latter is family-owned.
But regardless, they're both private entities and not publicly-traded, so the point remains.

We already live in a dystopia, we're way past that point.
Why were they allowed to merge to begin with? Same with at&t back in 2018. It doesn't seem to be going well. Many insiders predict another buyout possibly by fricking comcast
why acquire the company if they're knew they'll also acquire the massive debt as well? do these corporations know how corporate work?
From what I understand Discovery was in massive debt so they bought Warner so they could sell if its assets.
Lowering their overall debt and leaving WB a barren husk
But that may just be rumors
Sometimes it's just a powertrip, being able to "own" a bunch of stuff can be more satisfying than making money. Even operating at a loss could keep the executives happy, as long as they keep the power, even if it means fricking everyone else over. There's more to greed than just money.
There's actually quite a bit getting cut and tax write offed from TLC/HGTV/Discovery/etc but it's not mentioned at large because no one on social media cares about these type of shows
I don't know the story, but this is him in 2022. He's high as a kite, lost his front teeth, and seems even worse than when he was on the show.

The shows aren't about bringing awareness of these problems or helping them out (even though they claim and pretend its the case), it's pretty much a circus act to the producers. Later on when the show is over they get depressed after realizing how they've made a fool of themselves in front of the entire world and only get worse.
Anonymous
Hell I initially watched it for the drama and insanity. But a lot of the episodes were just too depressing. They were mostly about people with serious emotional issues that never got proper treatment.
But there was an episode about one guy who managed to lose wait and stay healthy. Him and his dad got tattoos to commemorate the weight loss. That was a good episode. He appeared again in a followup episode, still sticking to the diet.
In the long term it's likely very profitable due to the IPs you now own and can milk forever. In short term it just means you have to cut costs to the bone for awhile.
if the entertainment industry has taught me anything it's that corporations will gladly sacrifice a 100% chance to earn money for a .1% chance to earn slightly more money
But they could potentially make money with it years from now with a revival or re-release. Now they never will. I bet they'd make major bank with a complete series release of Megas XLR.
Been saying this the whole time. And the morons clapping for this maneuver are also incredibly short sighted.
At least Zaslav has his own short term self interests in mind and will frick off once he’s gotten a few fat bonuses. Anons who think this practice is fine because they didn’t like the show are just idiots.
When two companies merge, the one with the money(Discovery) goes through the company with no money(Warner Bros).
They get to write off whatever previous projects they want, because they have the money. Whatever projects they keep, have to for sure be successes, and not just "Yeah, it has a small fanbase, and turns a profit". If too many of the projects you choose to continue, end up not being worth the time/money investment, then you don't get to keep being CEO.
Don't get attached to any WB property for the next few years. There's already rumors of DiscoveryWB's merger with NBCUniversal in 2023. Guess what's going to happen if that merger happens? Another rough of tax write-offs by the NBCUniversal on DiscoveryWB.
I have a feeling this will happen more and more. Show isn't turning a profit anymore? Tax write off.
Show isn't as popular as the accountants predicted it would be? Tax write off.
Someone on Twitter calls the show racist? Tax write off.
And I can see morons defending it >Its been X years you should have already seen it >This will give more space for new shows >The cartoonists dont owe you anythign stop being entiteled
It’s really only ever been a CN thing
Disney (and later Nick) doesn’t do it because a lot of their shows are based on IPs, and even if they abandon the show by season 1 and fully kill it off the greater IP the failed show is based off of is important to them
Notice how basically all the tax write offs are not legacy IPs or ones they’d have worth with
Correct, but Disney has so many IPs they care about and Nick is so based on what exists now that they won't do the writeoff.
Because you can write off the Tron cartoon you abandoned when you bought MCU, sure, but do you want to write off the Tron brand entirely? Of course not
it's all part of the Greater Plan
as cartoon copies become rarer and rarer, the physical market will explode in price, leading to a hype and a hypsterization of the audience
then studios will start making cartoons again with higher budget
i dont care because the show sucked and this manchild constantly whining about it on social media like its going to change anything is annoying.
sucks that your shitty show got cancelled but pick yourself up and move on.
because cartoons don't exist for entertainment, they exist for indoctrination purposes, this is easy to extrapolate when you look at current kids cartoon mediums, and the people who support/post about it.

Pretty much this, the show just sucks. All these creators get pissy acting as if they didnt know what they were getting into whenever shit corporation #753 screws them and takes the creation that they literally sold away from day 1.
If your show gets written as a tax write off, it becomes US government property. That's why you don't see Megas XLR referenced ever, because it belongs to the government
Its a possibility, in hungary after jucika’s creator passed away his estate sold it to the Hungarian government. Not long after she was rediscovered it had turned out that her “copyright” was at the hands of the government. Recently after some negotiations so a compilation book could be released, she was let go and entered the public domain. Now that’s hungary so I’m not exactly sure if the same camps be said about the United States but it’s a non zero chance, don’t see what would be the problem of letting them go rather than just waiting 95 something years until the rights permanently expire because after all the government never took down youtube videos of MEGAS or symbiotic titan
Because the IRS exists to rape the middle and lower classes while serving the interests of the elites and corporations. What, you thought the expansion was to stop tax loopholesS?
Ah, is it now time to engage in the time-honored practice of violating international copyright laws to procure less-than-official copies of media which is no longer widely or legally available?
They purchased a company which was in an extremely large amount of debt. Like, abhorrently large, even. I'm not really sure *how* a company gets into such debt without being actively sabotaged in some kind of economic shell game, but hey it apparently occurred so what do I know.
Cancelled shows rarely receive an official announcement. The network gains nothing from saying anything. If it’s running it just doesn’t get renewed and if it’s in production, it just stops.
Some media sites break the story when they realize something is no longer being worked on, but that’s only if they think it’s something readers will care about.
>Like, abhorrently large, even. I'm not really sure *how* a company gets into such debt without being actively sabotaged in some kind of economic shell game,
Most of the debt Warner has was saddled on them by AT&T when they spent billions on TimeWarner and it turned out the former didn’t understand how the entertainment industry worked
Ah, so they wound up doing the annoying venture capital thing of buying up a perfectly functional company, saddling it with debt from their other assets, and cutting it loose to die?
I don't care
Megas XLR, which was a much better cartoon, got this same treatment.
You deserve suffering
It was a tragedy then and it is a tragedy now. A much lesser tragedy, however, as Megas XLR was a much better cartoon than Final Space. Still sucks that any show suffers this fate.
Essentially yes > “They could have put out the blueprint for the marketplace. That’s why they brought everyone (to the conference),” says Lorne Brown, CEO of the ad management firm Operative. But the blueprint wasn’t ready. “So instead they put up a bunch of pictures and did meditation.” >The Xandr story is only one piece of the broader misadventure, which one observer called “a nesting doll of ridiculousness.” The story will go down in the annals of mid-’10s hubris, when a telecom looked in the mirror and saw — not the nation’s second-largest phone provider — but a genuine rival to Facebook, Apple and Google. Its foray into media would destroy tens of billions of dollars in market capitalization, force the company to slash its dividend, and cost thousands of people their jobs. And it’s still not entirely clear why it happened. > “The rationale never made any sense,” says Craig Moffett, a partner at MoffettNathanson, and a critic of AT&T. “The acquisition of DirecTV, and later Time Warner, was never driven by a strategic analysis of what assets they needed to compete, and then a strategy to figure out the best way to go out and get them. It was driven by what assets they would be allowed to buy, and rationalizing an argument for why it would be a sensible thing to buy them.”

It's water, man. That's why a lot of European countries have it.
There were still silly moments present in the later season, but at that point felt clumsy because the story did shift more to the drama.
I think if the show continued, they'd have toned down the comedy very significantly.
They actually are, you eat way less nutriets by each serving, you have to eat more to get the same protein since your body doesn't process most of insect's protein, it also degrades your muscles and your brain due to that, is as bad as being a vegan. Also insects suffer far more than animals because they are frozen to death, wich is as painful as being burnt alive.
If this were older times it would have been already banned due to animal cruelty
>I don't like something so it shouldn't exist.
Can you frick off? I haven't seen the show myself, but I feel bad for the people who did enjoy it and the staff who spent years of their life working on it. Also frick off with your mental gymnastics on how they "deserved it" for some reason. Even the very worst producrd cartoon deserves to be seen.
Curious about tax write offs, do companies give more or less of a shit if these shows are being torrented? Not like they have any money to gain from these IP, anyway.
It doesn't make sense because if the company themselves is not offering the product, then it's by definition not infringing on their profit for that product. It's like when Nintendo stops selling digital only games or closes a webstore. They shouldn't be able to issue takedowns for stuff that there's no way to obtain legitimately.
I think the government should require companies to provide evidence of methods to legitimately obtain a product to be able to pursue cases like this. That's a lie. I think copyright and patent law should be abolished entirely in the name of freedom of information, but that's just not realistic.
Yes. So the way this works is, to the best of my understanding, all media has an expected lifetime of profitability. Let's pretend Discovery "expected" (because they can just make this shit up) Final Space would be profitable for 5 years. Well, it's currently been 4. They can just declare that last year a "loss" on their taxes, because they claim they are no longer profiting off Final Space.
Now you may ask "But anon, why do we have copyrights for 70 years if companies don't expect to be able to make profit on a product for more than 10?"
That's a great question.
Well gee, if abortion was legal with those two ammendment, why did it take until the 70s for it to be recognized and not the latest 1800s when the 14th was created and late 1700 during the first draft of the bill of rights
It WAS legal until it started to get banned, then the bans were overturned. Nobody fricking CARED until the 70s.
Nooo, my twenty-minute merchandise selling commercial is being treated like a twenty-minute merchandise selling commercial. How could capitalism have done this to me?
I’m so confused why people are acting like this is a big deal. No one watched the show and those that did know it sucked fricking ass. Are we all pretending this matters and isn’t just the homosexual creator trying to make more money?
Its more specific productions than a brand. They could write off, say, one of the CG cartoons if they wanted to. But you can't really write off an entire IP like Star Wars, no.
You write off anything that you need to run your bussiness, by doing it, they recognize it as a loss, what it means, is that that especific product can't make a profit, becaue if it does is tax fraud. If they release it, then it would make a a profit because the loss has already been deducted thus the fraud part, and this is why they can't.
All accounting and the IRS are a literal scam to help rich people make sure is easier for them to run a bussiness than for the poor, taxes is the sole reason the wealth gap increases
Nobody wanted to own this. It's a poetic fate for an artistic property nobody is attached to besides the creator, because he sees himself in it, being legally erased. This should be an official punishment for making a bad cartoon.
>tranime
Classic fake based. Meanwhile you're defending things like dead end paranormal Park from legal Erasure.
Its hilarious watching zoomers out themselves, they seriously can't understand why you'd want physical media. Can't blame them, their attention spans are so rotted they'll forget media even existed long before streaming services drop it.
i guess theyre too young to remember when george lucas made the special edition star wars (with all the extra cgi bullshit added) the only version you could get from then on
nobody will ever be able to take away my untainted pre-special vhs set
when does pro-physical media/history archival/frick corpo ever translate to "I actually enjoy this show" my condolences to the final space guy and everyone else who got their show dick over like this.
Most anons dislike the show so they don't care about the circumstances. This will just keep happening with no solution.
Said it before and I'll say it again, I fully expect Venture Bros or some other well liked property to get buttfricked as well.
>This will just keep happening with no solution.
we need to lobby our congress critters:
dumping a show as a tax write-off should force it into the public domain
>dumping a show as a tax write-off should force it into the public domain
and what does that do to support the creator or the group that bankrolled the thing?
they already got paid, this is about stopping corps from fricking the taxpayer
if they want a tax write off the taxpayer should get something in return
The difference between a well-liked property and a property no one likes is that people actually want to keep the former. Only the creators want to keep these shows as well as people in their Community who want to be creators too. They are selfishly motivated, and one of the good things about corporations is that they do not facilitate such narcissism.
>dumping a show as a tax write-off should force it into the public domain
and what does that do to support the creator or the group that bankrolled the thing?
The creator has already received plenty of support. Everybody whining on his behalf is supporting him, lots of people would enjoy such concern for what they go through in life.

What would anons do if Smiling Friends suffered the same fate?
Please STFU. What if a Michelin restaurant was treated like a dumpster. What if a five-star Hotel was treated like an infested dump. Good things don't get treated like bad things and people shouldn't think about it
You can't defend a bad show as an actual bad show, you can only imagine a bad show in the place of a good show. The same pathology of people who work in today's animation, they wanted to be treated like good animators when they came into the field regardless of whether they became good animators, which they did not.
This fantasy they have maintained from childhood, aspiring to be treated like Walt Disney or Chuck Jones, needs to be dispelled. Even with their shows deleted, they are still just lost in their fantasy career.
Showing your Stimpy doesn't sound like something you do in polite company

3. We already own nothing. Paid off your car? It can be confiscated at any time. Paid off your mortgage? Eminent Domaine. Put money in your savings account? They can bail-in your savings at any time to save the bank.
The show suffered from an identity crisis where you didn't know whether it was supposed to be a comedy or serious, the artstyle didn't help either since it makes people think of Rick and Morty. Also, Olan's voice for Gary sounds generally goofy and when he tries to be “serious” he does this dramatic whisper like something you would hear from something satirical. It was a mess. Regardless, the show didn't deserve to be legally disposed of forever.
Show would've been significantly better if they >Leaned HEAVY into the drama with comedy being a rarity >Slightly more realistic art style >Got a better actor for gary and limit olan's voice to background or side characters for budget reasons
The show as it stands was so frustrating. It had potential but stayed mediocre.

But this homosexual got physical copies? A hundred other shows deserve this more than his worthless piece of shit show, but didn't get any. FRICK this guy.
>Mood whiplash, mostly due to Olan wanted it to be more serious while executives wanted it to be more on the comedic side, so the show had this mishmash blend of both where the show doesn't feel genuine with either. >Characters are quite bland and move and act in demand of the plot then their own character. >Artsyle is quite simplistic and goofy and doesn't mesh well when it tries to get very serious. >Gary is a bizarre character to watch because he has all the qualities of a goofy character right down to his voice, but Olan doesn't want to commit to that completely and tries to add some kind of depth to him and have him participate in dramatic scenes, but it ends up coming out awkward because Olan can't make his voice flow with a serious scene. >The story itself is not interesting. It feels generic and forgettable.
Good summation. I'd also argue that the serious moments lost their impact not just from Gary and the art style but also for the fact that everyone kept getting revived like it was fricking Dragon Ball. That big alien guy's death was downright comical too since Ashley was moronic enough to believe that Gary apparently woke up that day and decided to kill him for no reason instead of suspecting that something was fricked.
>That big alien guy's death was downright comical too since Ashley was moronic enough to believe that Gary apparently woke up that day and decided to kill him for no reason instead of suspecting that something was fricked.
That's pretty much an example of the characters being governed purely by plot demand.
I had never heard of this show until I saw everyone screaming about it getting canceled. Maybe if the old Warner Bros. management had actually known how to promote it, Zazslav wouldn't be cancelling it.
So this isn't a tax write-off right? How can you write off a "product" you've been selling for years? Warner is probably shelving it forever to not pay whatever contract obligations they have for keeping it on TV and streaming.
Yeah, I'm still confused what exactly a tax write-off is. Especially in this context.
I looked it up, and I see it's when an entity removes something from their ownership and removes responsibility for it in so doing.
But I don't understand what makes it desirable for companies to write-off shows like they did here, especially when the shows have finished seasons.
But I don't understand how they make money from it.
Does the government re-imburse them for it?
Wouldn't that go against the capitalist principle that in choosing to fund the creation of something, they were taking the Risk that it wouldn't make it's money back in hopes of the Benefit that it would make back several multiples of its funding?
They don’t get reimbursed, but they can claim the projected losses as a write off so they pay less in taxes. Technically they’re not making more money with this, they’re just paying the government less.
GOOD.
All Physical media needs to be eradicated, stop wasting plastic for fat hoarders.
Let it go to stream site or whatever, once it's only it will remain there FOREVER.
And anyone with an IQ above room temperature can easily pirate it and own it forever.
Reminder: "You will own nothing" is a reference to the Great Reset conspiracy theory that, among other conspiracy theories, motivated Trump supporters to attack the Capitol on January 6th.
Every time you see it, or references to eating bugs, you're looking at the ramblings of one of the most dangerously stupid people this side of the Unabomber.
Okay, then why are these "theories" coming true as the years go on? Can you explain that to me? Food plants being set on fire, being forced to get a shot just so you can keep your job, digital currencies becoming a thing, etc. The list goes on.
>Food plants being set on fire >what is an accident? >being forced to get a shot
It's almost like health is important, or something. >digital currencies
You use a debit card.
Think that’s the worst thing happened to a show?
How about a show CN UK aired 20 years ago that would fell off the face of the earth and only 9 out of the 26 episodes that were found were from a foreign DVD rip, and is considered lost media.
All because no one bothered to do TV rips at the time the show aired.
Can someone give me a quick rundown about this show? I saw all 3 seasons without paying attention to what was happening around it as I usually do with every piece of media. Why was it cancelled? And what is a fax write off? (Sorry I'm not English speaker).
Whatever, it’s probably on KimCartoon or Mega or some shit. And even if it isn’t, some autist has every episode on their hard drive. Sucks for creator dude, but ultimately it’s still here in some shape or form.
That's what you get for working with a business.
That's the price for that stability and job security you wanted, it comes at the cost of never having that stability and job security in the first place.
Dude, you really just paid with your life for their tax write-off lol.
Indies at least own their janky low budget stuff they've spent their 5 years to lol.
Most indies only get to make one episode and then frick off forever. Animation is expensive. If you actually want to tell a multi-episode story, doing the deal with the devil is still the best way to do it.
Completely independent one-person 68 minute frame-by-frame animated movie. Script and storyboards are already done, plus 25 minutes of fully animated color footage. Only 43 minutes left to do. Currently on three year break.
It looks like some rick and morty ripoff bullshit. I never even knew this show existed until now. Showrunner deserves this for his show being so unoriginal.
This actually got a physical release?
What's up with streaming services removing shows, even those they developed? I guess they know the limit to push people to.
It still wouldn’t be legal, although it’s unlikely you would be prosecuted for doing so. That might change if you were selling it. It’s hard to say. I’m guessing we’ll find out soon enough.
Companies sure do a good job of ensuring that piracy will always remain a thing solely as a necessity of preserving work.
Like even if you don’t care about Final Space (hell I’ve never even watched it), this is still work that a bunch of people worked on for years only for it to get locked in a vault.
>NOOOOO YOU WONT HAVE SHINY DISC THAT ISNT EVEN GOOD AS A FRISBY
Why do people on Cinemaphile act like officially licensed optical media (DVD, Blu-ray) is the only way to store and archive shows? This board seems to be uniquely oblivious to the existence of cheap as hell magnetic hard drives, network attached storage devices, and P2P communities.
You live in a capitalist system. Media only exists to make the line go up. This media didn't make the line go up. Take it out on capitalism, not WBD for existing in a capitalist system where they're forced to stuff like this to stay competitive with Disney.
>All physical copies of the series have already stopped
Ah, this is the future stream only gays wanted to have.
i wonder if the creator still think piracy is bad now?
Shit like this is exactly why piracy is good and will always exist. I'm always in support of bootleg copies people make when legit ones are not, or may never be, an option.
Stream only gays deserve their rape to be streamed.
what about pirate streams?
>noooo I want to be a hoarder and shit up my house with physical garbage!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seethe, cope, dilate, suck corporate wiener, etc
*uploads all shows onto a flash drive*
*plugs flash drive into anus*
Your turn, hoarder cucks.
Hard drives are physical media, and volatile to boot.
Uh anon that's still owning a physical copy of the item.
You're shitting on people for doing exactly what you are doing
Neither chads nor pirates acknowledge the false dichotomies of cucks and soibois
Are you blind?
Arrest yourself and go to bed.
Yes.
enjoy your shows
oops, they're gone now
why does his beard move like that (under the mustache)
Enjoy watching your shows get erased from existence instead of being a piracy/physical chad like Me who burns their favorite media to dvds.
Flash drives are infinitely more space efficient than bulky DVDs. At least do it right.
never hurts to diversify storage.
>file corrupts, but still have disk to re download
>disk degrades or too scratched, but have file to redownload to new disk
Laptops don't even come with DVD/CD drives anymore...
>Laptops
Zoom zoom
I can't get rid of desktop towers anymore because the best buy near me got torn down so I have to get laptops.
>please daddy corpo take my fricking rights away!
>rights
How silly of us, the Founding Fathers clearly established it in the 1.5th Amendment: no adult shall be banned from accessing cartoons.
which amendment legalizes baby murder again?
What the frick does abortion have to do with cartoons?
I really like this gif because the guy that made it had access to plenty of pills from BoI (as evidenced by there being plenty in the stack) but he went the extra mile and grabbed clipart ones for the sake of aesthetics.
Crush your own head with a big stone now.
>he doesn't know
psycho hands typed this post
First amendment. Freedom of speech is also interpreted to be the freedom to hear said speech.
5th and 14th amendments.
Obviously not since the SC overturned that ruling and the courts can't yeet an enumerated right.
Well gee, if abortion was legal with those two ammendment, why did it take until the 70s for it to be recognized and not the latest 1800s when the 14th was created and late 1700 during the first draft of the bill of rights
>please daddy corpo lemme suck your dick by buying your schlop
>physical garbage
You don't think much of your shows if thats what you call them.
ABSO-FRICKING-LUTELY
You fricking moronic zoomer, imagine relying on a whims of a streaming corporation when it comes to archiving media
Imagine being this fricking defensive about NOT owning property. You're the kinda dipshit who spends 20 years renting a house.
>letting some dipshit company remove shit YOU payed for because they don’t want to pay taxes
Even a decade ago I knew online only shit was a bad idea in the long run but still
feels good to have 1000s of movies, animations, and films on my hard drives. enjoy your always online streaming videos 😉
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!
I want corporations to decide what I watch and how much I pay!!!!
And they can take it away whenever they want.
I hope China finally nukes americans
China cannot do shit and will just put out a bunch of final warnings again
Blu-rays and piracy are the only ways I watch media.
Anon a few hardrives or DVDs won't fill up a garage .
You could keep it in a large chest and probably never fill it up since Cinemaphile thinks everything sucks anyways
>implying all of this hasn't been already pirated the hell and back
What's the point of getting rid of the physicals?
What's the point of scrubbing it from circulation like they're retconning it from existence.
I may be wrong, but if something is written off as a tax write off, the company needs to stop making profit off that something or else they'll owe a frickton in taxes.
Then just give it for free instead of wiping it from existence.
>like they're retconning it from existence
Yes, as part of the tax write-off. Could you try and read? You don't get to write it off AND keep making money off of it. That's called tax fraud.
WB will no longer own it, and then the government will then own it.
But the government is not a video manufacturing and distribution centre, so it goes in some vault, never to be seen or used again.
In the past, THIS is the type of situation that produces actual lost media, expect this show has already been spread to the corners of the internet, so it will never qualify for lost media.
At worst, it becomes "inconvenient for the 12 people who care about it, to find it".
>the government will then own it
How the public domain should work.
I'll bite. Why?
That doesn't explain anything aside from you being a cuck, though.
You're the "cuck," to an ideology that only serves destructive tendencies.
Ah, so you're moronic. My mistake.
At least I'm not a drunkard blowing up ships for my manifesto of a union of states (that in no way resembles an empire!), held together by untrained rubes owning military weapons.
Get out of your basement and say that lmao
Like I do everyday?
While I applaud your sentiment, please don't use the c word as an insult. There are plenty of people who enjoy cuckoldry for whom it is a legitimate fetish and using the word as you have marginalizes them by problematically implying it is something that is somehow shameful.
It's also kinda racist.
No, no. They enjoy being insulted. Use "cuck" as an insult only, to let our fellows enjoy themselves.
>the 4k blurays of stranger things are a higher bitrate and better quality then netflixs
>won't release season 3 or 4
guess they felt like idiots that there biggest series looked better on physical when they were trying to sell a streaming only future
I’m STILL pissed that Netflix won’t release Hilda on DVD or Blu-Ray
Physical copies deteoriate. The only people with any sense are pirate chads.
Private company bro.
what's the implication here, the government should step in and mandate the continuation of loregay cartoons nobody watched?
It's a polite way of saying "Go frick yourself."
It sets precedent for a digital preservation movement
Consumer-friendly bro.
Frick you! have a nice day! Post your address so we can lynch you!
Based
Bait, not a very good one, I’m afraid
You already own nothing. Your house not being seized is a kindness, and will only be kept as long as its affordable.
You're really just renting land from the government.
my opinion, if you write something as tax off it should become public domain.
I mean once you write off you basic saying you dont care about this piece of work anymore
That would defeat the point of it being a tax write off as it creates a loophole for the media to be used to gain profit by anyone, including the ones who originally got the tax write off
Maybe the entire fricking concept shouldn't exist then.
Then it should be streamable via a government website. No need to pay residuals or that stuff. It would be pretty cool actually.
Streaming sites are expensive to run. That would result in a tax bump and even more cutting of already meager social programs
then the rights should fully go to the creators
I wonder if my blu ray copy would be worth anything on eBay. Probably not
>YOU WILL OWN NOTHING
I'm not American, so I'm okay.
Don't worry. Be happy.
Final Space got a full 3 season run AND getting heavy promotion AND heavy discussion online AND dvd releases
This show didn't get fricked over in the slightest, especially compared to other cartoons I follow
Being erased is pretty bad.
the Season 3 hasn't had a DVD release no?
That will make Season 3 lost media, legally
And Mao Mao and every other show being written off with no dvd release is fully lost media
Infinity Train and Final Space got pampered hard and failed
you have no idea what lost media is
Then enlighten us.
MMao Mao wasn't written off, they got rid of it to avoid paying the creators further.
>lost media
He isn’t complaining about it getting cancelled, he’s complainin about the tax write off.
Yes and? House of Mouse isn't even legally streamable and never been on Disney+ despite being the company's mascot show
His show did for awhile AND got a dvd release, his show is not fricked over and his coming off as a pissbaby
>being so much of a corporate drone you defend disney's homosexualry
I'm not, because their homosexualry sucks too, I'm just saying Spacegays and Traingays pretending their shows are the most fricked over pieces of media of all time and cry over it legit pisses me off when I follow shows that got only one season and never get attention from online crowds or ever got advertised or anything else and would never get the amount that these "fricked over shows" got
That's actually fair.
>Full 3 seasons
>Heavy promotion
>DVD releases
ALL of it is getting SCRUBBED from existence.
It's getting fricked RETROACTIVELY.
Piratechads rise up. why they do tax write-offs in the age of stream wars? Corporations are fighting tooth and nail for syndication shows
>Pirate
>chad
Pick one.
I'll pick both, thanks.
Congratulations, you support something that Western culture has been engineered to tolerate thanks to the influence of 18th-century drunkards knocking boats over because of a tax.
>thanks to the influence of 18th-century drunkards knocking boats over because of a tax.
Well I am a New Englander, so it's only natural.
And that influence should've stayed in New England, but unfortunately, the rest of the continent wasn't inhabited by an empire that could match Old England's at the time.
>And that influence should've stayed in New England
Objectively wrong.
Piracy is a human right, frick corporations and frick the king.
>Theft is a human right
I meant in the 18th century, by the way.
is a human right
When it's stealing from corpos or governments, yes.
I will own everything, I will pay nothing, and I WILL be happy.
Capitalism is theft. Discovery has stolen this man's creation and locked it away. It is your moral obligation to take it back.
Capitalism isn't the problem, rampant corporations is. If you think the issue is lacking in such nuance that you can just blame capitalism then its no wonder your teachers failed you.
>theft isn't the problem, thieves are!
That's a nice strawman you invented in your head. Mind coming back to reality?
How do you prevent rampant corporations from forming in a capitalist system?
Have corporations owned by families and small groups of people who benefit far more from ensuring the long-term health of the company rather than corporations that are publicly traded and owned by large investment firms and billionaires who only care about enriching themselves and their clients?
Y'know, like what Japan does, a lot of their largest publishers for instance are family-owned operations, including Shueisha, who publishes Shounen Jump.
Actually, my mistake, I confused Shueisha with Kodansha, the latter is family-owned.
But regardless, they're both private entities and not publicly-traded, so the point remains.
American animation needs its own Valve to counteract the animation industry's EA, Take Two, and Activision (Disney, Paramount, and WBD), otherwise it will remain stagnant.
>Piracy is a human right
Piracy ISN'T a human right,
it's a last resort when all else fails, WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS.
Nope, piracy is the default.
I only pay for shit nowadays if it's shit I desperately need or if I REALLY like the people who made it.
We already live in a dystopia, we're way past that point.
Yes.
>pirates both options
A pirate never obeys, so I pick both.
Because Warner Bros Discovery is billions in debt from the merger. They are desperate to lower it at any cost.
Why were they allowed to merge to begin with? Same with at&t back in 2018. It doesn't seem to be going well. Many insiders predict another buyout possibly by fricking comcast
>Why were they allowed to merge to begin with?
why wouldn't they be. they were moronic to do it but that's no reason to stop them
From what I understand Discovery was in massive debt so they bought Warner so they could sell if its assets.
Is anything from TLC being cut? That would actually be a net-good for humanity.
I wish. Some comeuppance for that Zaslav frick.
There's actually quite a bit getting cut and tax write offed from TLC/HGTV/Discovery/etc but it's not mentioned at large because no one on social media cares about these type of shows
> no one on social media cares about these type of shows
Every one of them no matter how shitty has >100k member subreddits with 20 drama filled splinters subs.
I hate how much I enjoyed some episodes of the 600lb life show. For anyone who knows of Steven Assanti, the guy somehow spiraled down even further.
qrd? I saw his episodes and the special after his episodes. How'd he get worse?
I don't know the story, but this is him in 2022. He's high as a kite, lost his front teeth, and seems even worse than when he was on the show.
The shows aren't about bringing awareness of these problems or helping them out (even though they claim and pretend its the case), it's pretty much a circus act to the producers. Later on when the show is over they get depressed after realizing how they've made a fool of themselves in front of the entire world and only get worse.
This channel died when it stopped being "The Learninf Channel" and reality drivel instead.
The little factoid about the channel being founded by NASA actually makes perfect much sense when you become "in the know" about other things.
I'm not in the know, but I'm curious. Tell me more.
why acquire the company if they're knew they'll also acquire the massive debt as well? do these corporations know how corporate work?
You overestimate corpo suits' ability to not be fricking moronic
In the long term it's likely very profitable due to the IPs you now own and can milk forever. In short term it just means you have to cut costs to the bone for awhile.
They're only going further in debt with their shitty decisions. Look at their market cap compared to 4 months ago.
>We're canning out successful streaming service and moving everything to the dead one! Wait, why are you all leaving?!?
Market cap isn't a measure of debt. It's not really a good measure of anything.
Zaslav is an imbecile.
Final Space fricking sucked but it didn't deserve this.
I agree it should have went differently.
Tax write offs seem incredibly short sighted.
if the entertainment industry has taught me anything it's that corporations will gladly sacrifice a 100% chance to earn money for a .1% chance to earn slightly more money
But they could potentially make money with it years from now with a revival or re-release. Now they never will. I bet they'd make major bank with a complete series release of Megas XLR.
It is, specially now.
Been saying this the whole time. And the morons clapping for this maneuver are also incredibly short sighted.
At least Zaslav has his own short term self interests in mind and will frick off once he’s gotten a few fat bonuses. Anons who think this practice is fine because they didn’t like the show are just idiots.
>morons clapping for this maneuver
There's literally no one who's genuinely glad that this is happening. You're swallowing bait in gallons.
Well that's classic reactionary/contrarian behaviour. You just wanna own the other side.
What? What side am I trying to own?
You really think Eurika's Castle or Johnny Test would be worth holding on to when you have a rich library vs. tax money?
I have a feeling this will happen more and more. Show isn't turning a profit anymore? Tax write off.
Show isn't as popular as the accountants predicted it would be? Tax write off.
Someone on Twitter calls the show racist? Tax write off.
And I can see morons defending it
>Its been X years you should have already seen it
>This will give more space for new shows
>The cartoonists dont owe you anythign stop being entiteled
It’s really only ever been a CN thing
Disney (and later Nick) doesn’t do it because a lot of their shows are based on IPs, and even if they abandon the show by season 1 and fully kill it off the greater IP the failed show is based off of is important to them
Notice how basically all the tax write offs are not legacy IPs or ones they’d have worth with
Every IP started from somewhere. Everything was "NEW" at one point in time. On May, 1, 1999 SpongeBob SquarePants premiered.
Every IP has a chance to have a legacy but only if you allow it too have one.
Correct, but Disney has so many IPs they care about and Nick is so based on what exists now that they won't do the writeoff.
Because you can write off the Tron cartoon you abandoned when you bought MCU, sure, but do you want to write off the Tron brand entirely? Of course not
This is why I get physical games at every opportunity
it's all part of the Greater Plan
as cartoon copies become rarer and rarer, the physical market will explode in price, leading to a hype and a hypsterization of the audience
then studios will start making cartoons again with higher budget
We laugh now but it wouldn't shock me whatsover if venture bros is next. There has been no real update on the movie
i dont care because the show sucked and this manchild constantly whining about it on social media like its going to change anything is annoying.
sucks that your shitty show got cancelled but pick yourself up and move on.
>Cinemaphile wants serialized plot driven shows
>gets serialized plot driven show
>hates it and keeps complaining
i am not Cinemaphile
i am an anon on Cinemaphile
Uhh, I think most people want GOOD shows, not bad ones.
but i want good shows you absolute fricking moron
Go watch anime then, gaybitch
Why do you want cartoons to suck so bad?
because cartoons don't exist for entertainment, they exist for indoctrination purposes, this is easy to extrapolate when you look at current kids cartoon mediums, and the people who support/post about it.
That's why we want to get rid of woke influence in cartoons rather than write off cartoons entirely.
You tried watching final space?
Sure I liked some bits but it turns into nails on a chalkboard pretty fast.
>Cinemaphile wants GOOD serialized plot driven shows
>gets BAD serialized plot driven show
>hates it and keeps talking about the 1-2 GOOD shows it actually gets every 2-3 years
>BAD show dies and is deleted forever from the internet
>Cinemaphile doesn't care because only like 3 morons actually watched all the seasons
FTFY
This is typical animation industry logic. They think popularity comes from elements of the series instead of the actual quality and meaning of the series. As if they cannot experience the artwork, they can only measure it like a robot. It used to be only Executives thought like this
More of that "can't distinguish quality, only quantity" reasoning. Public School damage
Maybe a better show will rise up someday that can replace the stuff we lost.
>serialized show for adults
>just another juvenile comedy with toilet joke levels of humor, an MC as dumb as futurama's Fry...but still occasionally tries to take itself seriously for some reason
Pretty much this, the show just sucks. All these creators get pissy acting as if they didnt know what they were getting into whenever shit corporation #753 screws them and takes the creation that they literally sold away from day 1.
Pic rel was the show's rock bottom. It never recovered.
So, if a show gets written off, does that mean no one else can buy the rights either?
Yes.
Ouch.
anon opened the door by bringing up the constitution, your honor
If your show gets written as a tax write off, it becomes US government property. That's why you don't see Megas XLR referenced ever, because it belongs to the government
So it all goes in the public domain?
So what's the problem?
I thought Cinemaphile loved the public domain?
???
I'm having trouble figuring out if you're trolling or if you're genuinely that ignorant. Public domain isn't the same as owned by the government.
Well is the government gonna sue me if I start trying to profit off of the franchise? Probably not. So it may as well be public domain.
If you start making appreciable money they will. Nobody really tries to take anything from you until you have something to take. Then you lose it all.
>US government starts fighting wars by playing clips of Final Space to kill their enimies, replacing bombs and ammo.
But would they ever try to defend Megas XLR if it did pop up in reference?
internationally Warner Bros Discovery still owns it
Does that mean we can lobby to congress for them to released the tax-write-off'd media to be put into the public domain?
That's not how that works at all, you fricking weirdo.
Write a letter to Biden with an offer to buy the rights.
And this is why you should set up a home media server.
The IRS should just reject their write-off. It's so transparently an attempt to avoid paying taxes.
So why hasn't anyone started a campaign to contact the IRS and encourage them to reject the deal?
Because the IRS exists to rape the middle and lower classes while serving the interests of the elites and corporations. What, you thought the expansion was to stop tax loopholesS?
this is why piracy I mean media preservation is important
Piracy is required for media preservation at this point
Final Space sucked anyway, who cares?
have a nice day, shroommeister and stick to jacking off shitty shows like primal
have a nice day
who has a torrent?
This is reminding me I should probably get Primal dvds while they still exist.
Why is Discovery doing this? Don't buy the stuff if you ain't gonna use it
Probably a keeping-up-with-the-Joneses thing with Disney without looking into the how and why.
They didn't realize just how much debt WB had when they bought it. They're desperate for anything to stop the bleeding/get a few bucks back.
>They didn't realize just how much debt WB had when they bought it.
Jesus Christ are they mentally moronic?
>Are a bunch of old fart executives of soulless mega corporations moronic?
Duh?
Ah, is it now time to engage in the time-honored practice of violating international copyright laws to procure less-than-official copies of media which is no longer widely or legally available?
They purchased a company which was in an extremely large amount of debt. Like, abhorrently large, even. I'm not really sure *how* a company gets into such debt without being actively sabotaged in some kind of economic shell game, but hey it apparently occurred so what do I know.
>I'm not really sure *how* a company gets into such debt
Doesn't Turner/Warner have a history of doing weird misguided shit their properties? like the live action powerpuff girls series.
Or the DCEU...also, my understanding is that The CW hasn't made a profit in decades.
Speaking of which, has that shit been cancelled yet?
Not officially.
Which is exactly why people run to twitter to b***h, in a desperate attempt at starting a campaign to get another season.
>Doesn't Turner/Warner have a history of doing weird misguided shit their properties?
Not more so than any other company.
It was a tragedy then and it is a tragedy now. A much lesser tragedy, however, as Megas XLR was a much better cartoon than Final Space. Still sucks that any show suffers this fate.
Essentially yes
> “They could have put out the blueprint for the marketplace. That’s why they brought everyone (to the conference),” says Lorne Brown, CEO of the ad management firm Operative. But the blueprint wasn’t ready. “So instead they put up a bunch of pictures and did meditation.”
>The Xandr story is only one piece of the broader misadventure, which one observer called “a nesting doll of ridiculousness.” The story will go down in the annals of mid-’10s hubris, when a telecom looked in the mirror and saw — not the nation’s second-largest phone provider — but a genuine rival to Facebook, Apple and Google.

This show seems like a missed opportunity anyway. Just reboot it in the future after everyone’s forgotten about it, but without the forced comedy.
Can't, now.
Why not? The write-off is just for the original show, isn’t it?
Whole IP. It can't be touched anymore. Its banished to the ether. Functionally extinct.
A stiff. Bereft of life, it rests in peace. If they hadn't written it off it would be pushing up daisies. It has rung down the curtain and joined the choir invisible. This is an ex-franchise.
>Why not?
Same reason as Megas XLR and Symbiotic Titan
They literally can't reboot it.
I've never even heard of this show until now.
ZE BUGS
So basically Discovery have completely fricked themselves.
I hope the whole thing goes bankrupt and we'll be free of their shitty reality shows once and for all.
They have two years until they can start discussing another merger/get bought out by someone else.
So this seems like the right place to ask, is there a way to unscratch DVDs? Because that’s the only thing keeping me from getting them
Put them back in the cases when you're done using them.
No but really
Non answer sticking to streaming
yes there is, literally just google unscratch cds
Toothpaste and a microfiber cloth.
They used to sell dick resurfacers for like $10.
>They used to sell dick resurfacers for like $10.
Don't you want a shiny resurfaced dick, anon?
>They used to sell dick resurfacers for like $10.
Dude I need that shit. The underside of my corona's all calloused and I've got a biopsy scar on the top of the head from a god damn mole that came out of nowhere and concerned my dermatologist.
There are disc buffers which can fix them. Disc rot is a bigger issue. Thought cds, dvds, and Blu-ray were good forever? Think again!
>Disc rot is a bigger issue.
I have over 20 years old dvds that still work. It's not like laserdisc where they had actual widespread disc rot problems due to iirc what they used to glue the layers or something.
No one with a functional brain will think this.
Anyone who cares about physical media, already knows. PSX collectors have known about disc rot, from before most of Cinemaphile was born.
Did you just find out about disc rot, zoomie?
See the post right above yours. Some people don’t think it’s a problem.
I’m likely at least a decade older than you.
Hmmm, I guess I could just buy new DVDs but like the Final Space guy had happen, they stopped making them
They also did for gravity falls I know that. I could buy streaming in like 20 years. Or just go to those cartoon websites
who is working off a prison sentence and makes a mysterious new alien friend, Mooncake, that he immediately bonds with. But what Gary doesn't know is that his adorable new sidekick is actually wanted by the sinister Lord Commander who will stop at nothing to use Mooncake's untapped powers for evil.
Sounds boring or rather painfully generic
Good, the 3rd season was fricking terrible and made me hate the show
I spit in your face and laugh at your demise
Do purchased digital copies stop working? I've never bought anything digital for just that reason.
I have the first ep of season 2 on prime and it still plays. All unpurchased episodes are unavailable though.
Wait, shit gets weirder. Episodes 10 to 13 of season 2 are available to purchase but the rest aren't
Something to do with Nextflix still having airing rights?
imagine not owning your media and being happy. think about it, you wake up the next day, you watch something, you're happy. why do you need to worry about it disappearing? don't you know they have a watch algorithm that is tailored to your specific taste and needs that gives you the perfect media to watch so you NEVER run out of it. imagine a kino computer that knows you better then yourself that can feed you the perfect show at the perfect time
and instead of doing that, it feeds you hideous troony propaganda instead
eat the bugs
EAT ZE BUGS
I’m going to be honest, I would eat bugs, but I want it to be processed first.
Have tried bugs. They were pretty good.
Don't get the hate, really
Not everyone is a nasty fricker like you, anon.
Not really any different from the rest of the dead animals that are part of anyone's regular diet.
A bit more crunchy but so is bacon
You probably wipe your ass with your bare hand, too.
Imagine not cleaning your ass with water and instead smearing shit with dry toilet paper. Literal subhuman garbage.
Using a bidet is for homosexuals and people who want their ass eaten.
By God's glory, a toilet sprinkler shall not defile my butthole and turn me gay
>so absolutely on the razors edge a mere spray of water can turn him into the gayest man on earth
I'm sorry to hear that. not him btw. Bidets are fine, it certainly doesn't feel like that. You won't understand until you have taken.... ~THE~ shit. Until you do you won't understand why you'd need anything more than toilet paper.
Bidets are for people who value anal hygiene, and gays are irrelevant to the topic. You have a shit residue covered butthole. Sit the frick down and know your place chump.
It's water, man. That's why a lot of European countries have it.
I think if the show continued, they'd have toned down the comedy very significantly.
Install one in my house and I'll use it, c**t.
It’s not my problem you’re poor
Buy your own shit, poorgay
They actually are, you eat way less nutriets by each serving, you have to eat more to get the same protein since your body doesn't process most of insect's protein, it also degrades your muscles and your brain due to that, is as bad as being a vegan. Also insects suffer far more than animals because they are frozen to death, wich is as painful as being burnt alive.
If this were older times it would have been already banned due to animal cruelty
Remember when we talked about Megas XLR like this tax write-off thing was just a freak one-off thing that studios rarely do? Those were the days.
I never even heard of this. Looks like Star Trek Lower Decks bootleg edition kek. Good riddance. Frick Warner Brothers.
I've only seen the first season, but it truly is the height of mediocrity.
I think obliterating any art is bad.
great, now burn the existing copies.
PirateChads win again.
So, what does this mean in terms of pirating it? Would this mean it's still technically illegal?
It already was. Only difference now is that piracy is literally the ONLY way it can exist.
Who would sue you in the event you were caught pirating it? The government?
Probably. But more for the act itself, not the show.
It WAS legal until it started to get banned, then the bans were overturned. Nobody fricking CARED until the 70s.
Anti-abortion laws date back to the 1820s in America.
Who cares.
I don't care
Megas XLR, which was a much better cartoon, got this same treatment.
You deserve suffering
Can't both be bad? It could happen to a WB property you like.
It also happened to Batman.
>le shitty leftist Batgirl movie
I meant beware the Batman.
Wasn't popular, not my problem
Nooo, my twenty-minute merchandise selling commercial is being treated like a twenty-minute merchandise selling commercial. How could capitalism have done this to me?
I’m so confused why people are acting like this is a big deal. No one watched the show and those that did know it sucked fricking ass. Are we all pretending this matters and isn’t just the homosexual creator trying to make more money?
It matters because it could happen to something good as well.
Its Happening to Tigtone
>tax write-off
Understandable, you don't frick with the IRS, they have an army now.
You can legally shoot them, all IRS agents tresspass, the IRS doesn't have the authority to use executive powers
>what is Criminal Investigation?
us megas fans have felt this way for years
welcome to the club
please tell me this is fanart and not the actual reboot of it
Fanart mocking Thundercats Roar.
around the time thundercats roar came out Cinemaphile went on a mission to reboot everything calarts style
Why in the frick are 2/3 of them brown?
How does the tax write-off thing work? Are there limitations? Like, could Disney one day decide to make Star Wars a tax write off out of the blue?
Its more specific productions than a brand. They could write off, say, one of the CG cartoons if they wanted to. But you can't really write off an entire IP like Star Wars, no.
You write off anything that you need to run your bussiness, by doing it, they recognize it as a loss, what it means, is that that especific product can't make a profit, becaue if it does is tax fraud. If they release it, then it would make a a profit because the loss has already been deducted thus the fraud part, and this is why they can't.
All accounting and the IRS are a literal scam to help rich people make sure is easier for them to run a bussiness than for the poor, taxes is the sole reason the wealth gap increases
based, western cartoons are terrible
ANIME CHADS RISE UP
>replacing terrible with even more terrible
The power of tranime stacies(male)
Nobody wanted to own this. It's a poetic fate for an artistic property nobody is attached to besides the creator, because he sees himself in it, being legally erased. This should be an official punishment for making a bad cartoon.
>tranime
Classic fake based. Meanwhile you're defending things like dead end paranormal Park from legal Erasure.
The irony of homies watching amphibia and Steven universe calling anyone a troony lmao
This show just looked like a bootleg cross between Rick and Morty and Star Trek; I honestly don't see how it even lasted that long to begin with.
i just picked up the complete rocky and bullwinkle on dvd yesterday at a thrift store
shit was cash
Its hilarious watching zoomers out themselves, they seriously can't understand why you'd want physical media. Can't blame them, their attention spans are so rotted they'll forget media even existed long before streaming services drop it.
i guess theyre too young to remember when george lucas made the special edition star wars (with all the extra cgi bullshit added) the only version you could get from then on
nobody will ever be able to take away my untainted pre-special vhs set
when does pro-physical media/history archival/frick corpo ever translate to "I actually enjoy this show"
my condolences to the final space guy and everyone else who got their show dick over like this.
Unfortunately you don't matter. Your rights end where the corporation's begins.
>dumping a show as a tax write-off should force it into the public domain
and what does that do to support the creator or the group that bankrolled the thing?
they already got paid, this is about stopping corps from fricking the taxpayer
if they want a tax write off the taxpayer should get something in return
>wtf a tax break isn't enough for me, i should get more free stuff
no
The difference between a well-liked property and a property no one likes is that people actually want to keep the former. Only the creators want to keep these shows as well as people in their Community who want to be creators too. They are selfishly motivated, and one of the good things about corporations is that they do not facilitate such narcissism.
The creator has already received plenty of support. Everybody whining on his behalf is supporting him, lots of people would enjoy such concern for what they go through in life.
> lots of people would enjoy such concern for what they go through in life
your love don't pay my bills
Whats with your name
You sound like a commie. The collective people decide what media is able to exist!
Cancel the show if it sucks, but barring it from ever being able to see the light of day again is moronic. I hate final space but I don’t want a bunch of normies deciding what media will be vaulted for me.
>anti-commie
>starts talking about how the collective decides
You'd think pots would've stopped calling kettles "black" by now.
I was calling you a commie then saying what you think, that the collective decides. Read the context.
You frickers here ever heard of a "cult classic"? Shit that bombed on release but slowly built cred over time and became dearly liked?
Those days are over now that DVD sales are no longer a thing and its TERRIBLE for our culture.
This. The entirety of grindhouse cinema would have been vaulted under these practices.
Was getting tired of the formula it was going for with the character leaving/needing to be redeemed while shit explodes and Gary yells Noooo
It felt too busy to me, like the show didn't give itself any time to breathe.
that momma tho
Only thing I'm gonna miss from Final Space. Did we ever see her naked or saw her feet in the show?
That art style is so shit. I feel so sorry for you guys that this is the best you have to bust to.
Seriously looks atrocious
Please STFU. What if a Michelin restaurant was treated like a dumpster. What if a five-star Hotel was treated like an infested dump. Good things don't get treated like bad things and people shouldn't think about it
No you
>Good things don't get treated like bad things
Are you a child?
You can't defend a bad show as an actual bad show, you can only imagine a bad show in the place of a good show. The same pathology of people who work in today's animation, they wanted to be treated like good animators when they came into the field regardless of whether they became good animators, which they did not.
This fantasy they have maintained from childhood, aspiring to be treated like Walt Disney or Chuck Jones, needs to be dispelled. Even with their shows deleted, they are still just lost in their fantasy career.
Ironic…show us your stimpy
He used to be able draw better.
Right is better.
...Did he forget how to use multiplication layer?
Showing your Stimpy doesn't sound like something you do in polite company
Why do you think TV shows are made, just for the creator to hang out and enjoy himself. He is obligated to please the audience and the people paying him to make shit
But the sparkles are particularly mauve at the moment. The industry can’t recognize this simple fact that the secret John K had was within the context of being obtuse enough to know better. You didn’t think of that, did you?
Get yo Podcastin ass outta here.
https://manlyburger.substack.com/p/p5-state-of-the-arts-industry-animation?s=r&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web
I think at this point your an industry plant to test how stupid people are
>knows about guy's new podcast as soon as it comes out
>finds an excuse to post it on Cinemaphile
You love him, don't you.
Gotta know about my rival, more than he knows him.
why don't you do something productive in your life for a change? pathetic subhuman
Hey Kevstar Anon, I haven't seen yous in a few days, Is that really how long yous was butthurt for.
>everyone that doesn't like me is the same person!!
get your ass in the mental ward already schizo
It's not my fault I deleted the only piece of art I had of yours. Needed the room for more SB99 stuff.
Also keep crying arsehole. and quit shadow replying to me on tbharchive weirdo.
>everyone that doesn't like me is the same person!!
get your ass in the mental ward already schizo
>"hmmm yes, I'll repeat my self to show that Birchy chap the up and up"
yous funny
>everyone that doesn't like me is the same person!!
get your ass in the mental ward already schizo
Sorry for what i said. Im a little b***h and i deserve no love
>Good things don't get treated like bad things and people shouldn't think about it
Thought you were one of those queers who rails against DON'T QUESTION JUST CONSUME PRODUCT ways of thinking. Must be one of the other guys.
I like the idea of her, but the style is so unattractive I just never bothered to lewd her.
She basically looks like a funko pop with a neck and actual sclera instead of just a pupil.
Yeah, people have asked me to do it several times since I know folks who watch the show.
I never did because I'd basically just be inventing my own hot space gilf.
wait....I should just make my own space gilf....
1. This is why we pirate.
2. This show was probably mediocre.
3. We already own nothing. Paid off your car? It can be confiscated at any time. Paid off your mortgage? Eminent Domaine. Put money in your savings account? They can bail-in your savings at any time to save the bank.
This happens to so many shows. He’s not that special.
His show could've had 20 seasons, bro.
Being vaulted for a tax write off is not the same as being cancelled.
What would anons do if Smiling Friends suffered the same fate?
Zach would just make Grinning Pals and recolor the characters
Zach would rat Hollywood out to the Federal Trade Commission
Hillary lost
good
The show suffered from an identity crisis where you didn't know whether it was supposed to be a comedy or serious, the artstyle didn't help either since it makes people think of Rick and Morty. Also, Olan's voice for Gary sounds generally goofy and when he tries to be “serious” he does this dramatic whisper like something you would hear from something satirical. It was a mess. Regardless, the show didn't deserve to be legally disposed of forever.
Show would've been significantly better if they
>Leaned HEAVY into the drama with comedy being a rarity
>Slightly more realistic art style
>Got a better actor for gary and limit olan's voice to background or side characters for budget reasons
The show as it stands was so frustrating. It had potential but stayed mediocre.
I thought they shifted out of the comedy-drama mode and made it a fully-fledged drama altogether.
Maybe he should have pitched it to Netflix instead.
There were still silly moments present in the later season, but at that point felt clumsy because the story did shift more to the drama.
remember when you decided not to go to blockbuster to rent movies and tv shows?
this is the future you chose
Im trans btw
he's the trans guy, I'm the smart guy, think of Rick and Morty but guy and guy
No you're not, I'm the smart guy, you are the moron guy
No u
I'm the crazy guy, nice to meet you
Admitting you have a problem doesn't automatically make it ok.
SHUT THE FRICK UP
go back to actually drawing decent.
rude
I own everything pay for nothing and take up 0 space.
But I pay for a 50 dollar VPN
>laughs in wco.tv
But this homosexual got physical copies? A hundred other shows deserve this more than his worthless piece of shit show, but didn't get any. FRICK this guy.
what show are you seeking
>a gay amputee-furry couple becomes rallying mascots for the cause of archivism
A moment for the ages.
Someone give me a rundown on everything wrong with Final Space right now.
That it's being cancelled.
Also, Gary's voice is still annoying.
I draw better than Olan
It was supposed be on TBS' animation block but then it moved to AS and finally moved to HBO Max, of course you didn't
People still watch TBS?
So this isn't a tax write-off right? How can you write off a "product" you've been selling for years? Warner is probably shelving it forever to not pay whatever contract obligations they have for keeping it on TV and streaming.
I'm guessing they didn't make back the money they used to produce it, thus it's a "loss"
Because they believe they'll make more money with the write off at this point.
Technically they’re not making more money with this, they’re just paying the government less.
>implying guy can even art
GOOD.
All Physical media needs to be eradicated, stop wasting plastic for fat hoarders.
Let it go to stream site or whatever, once it's only it will remain there FOREVER.
And anyone with an IQ above room temperature can easily pirate it and own it forever.
Thank Christ. Never deserved to be greenlit.
Reminder: "You will own nothing" is a reference to the Great Reset conspiracy theory that, among other conspiracy theories, motivated Trump supporters to attack the Capitol on January 6th.
Every time you see it, or references to eating bugs, you're looking at the ramblings of one of the most dangerously stupid people this side of the Unabomber.
wienerroach dining hands typed this
Thank you for proving me right.
You floss the grasshoppers out of your teeth, yet?
Samegay
Man, you should not be on a forum with Anonymous Users, it's making your mental health worse.
Its not healthy to project, anon.
Mate, you'd have a Room temperature IQ if we were living on Pluto.
You interested in buying a bridge?
Okay, then why are these "theories" coming true as the years go on? Can you explain that to me? Food plants being set on fire, being forced to get a shot just so you can keep your job, digital currencies becoming a thing, etc. The list goes on.
>Food plants being set on fire
>what is an accident?
>being forced to get a shot
It's almost like health is important, or something.
>digital currencies
You use a debit card.
You don't have a clue how bad things are going get years from now do you?
*good.
I hope Emma surprised us.
Does the guy have any talent left or was he a one trick pony that will at best end up writing painfully bad jokes for someone elses show?
Good. Gary’s voice and Ash’s side shave were super annoying.
>Final Space
Any kind anon has a magnet and is willing to share?
The show sucked tho.
Anon, I won't be watching it. I'll be just seeding out of pure spite.
Die, you bastard! Revenge for Sam Sweetmilk!
I watched it when I was a kid, it aired during the morning. It was very much mediocre, trust me we're not losing anything.
Funny, this Hong Kong company called AGoGo owns the Middle Eastern/Asian rights to it despite it barely airing there
Can someone give me a quick rundown about this show? I saw all 3 seasons without paying attention to what was happening around it as I usually do with every piece of media. Why was it cancelled? And what is a fax write off? (Sorry I'm not English speaker).
It has a black character. I'm not watching.
>Had the show continued into a fourth season they would have made Avocado gay
REST IN FRICKING PISS
Whatever, it’s probably on KimCartoon or Mega or some shit. And even if it isn’t, some autist has every episode on their hard drive. Sucks for creator dude, but ultimately it’s still here in some shape or form.
piracy is bad bro it hurts everyone, don't be a cheap this show is still available to watch you moron
If you actually want to tell a multi-episode story, doing the deal with the devil is still the best way to do it.
...As we can clearly see from the op image.
It really paid off
Just sign the deal bro, devil got your back bro! lol
What do you think about Saga of Rex?
Completely independent one-person 68 minute frame-by-frame animated movie. Script and storyboards are already done, plus 25 minutes of fully animated color footage. Only 43 minutes left to do. Currently on three year break.
Who gave you a permission to reply?
It looks like some rick and morty ripoff bullshit. I never even knew this show existed until now. Showrunner deserves this for his show being so unoriginal.
>rick and morty ripoff
If you never watched it how would you know?
I found it last year by searching "shows similar to Rick and Morty"
This actually got a physical release?
What's up with streaming services removing shows, even those they developed? I guess they know the limit to push people to.
So does that mean no one owns this anymore and anyone can distribute it freely?
It still wouldn’t be legal, although it’s unlikely you would be prosecuted for doing so. That might change if you were selling it. It’s hard to say. I’m guessing we’ll find out soon enough.
Companies sure do a good job of ensuring that piracy will always remain a thing solely as a necessity of preserving work.
Like even if you don’t care about Final Space (hell I’ve never even watched it), this is still work that a bunch of people worked on for years only for it to get locked in a vault.
Frick tax write-offs even being a thing.
Couldn’t have happened to a nicer show. Hopefully Young Justice is next.
should've committed tax evasion.
Then what is the "right" answer
Wtf, how is warner bros $55 billion in debt? Don’t they own Harry Potter and looney tunes and shit? They have money printers.
It's really easy when your costs and greater than your revenue.
Would they be allowed to sue if someone used those characters?
>NOOOOO YOU WONT HAVE SHINY DISC THAT ISNT EVEN GOOD AS A FRISBY
Why do people on Cinemaphile act like officially licensed optical media (DVD, Blu-ray) is the only way to store and archive shows? This board seems to be uniquely oblivious to the existence of cheap as hell magnetic hard drives, network attached storage devices, and P2P communities.
Zoomers don't even know what file folders are.
You live in a capitalist system. Media only exists to make the line go up. This media didn't make the line go up. Take it out on capitalism, not WBD for existing in a capitalist system where they're forced to stuff like this to stay competitive with Disney.
Under communism, "line didn't go up" products are removed by force of the State, which, I agree, is far better.
This stuff wouldn't even exist in the first place without capitalism.
Yeah God forbid we don't have the terrible cartoon industry anymore, thank God for capitalism amirite bros. Now we can watch uhhh
Old quality cartoons aren't going anywhere.
So given the show is dead and never coming back or growing into any potential or resolving any further plot threads, is it worth a watch?
I thought it was a serviceable drama.
God no one cares about dime a dozen cartoons or "lost" media.
Bye Bye
didnt the creator admit his show went to shit after season 2 or 3?
