It was clumsy. You can still do "the villains are monsters, wipe em out" like the shadows in Raya. But it's a lot different to do "they're all evil" to what's basically a human subspecies. They only convinced themselves it was okay but making Chelsea a pretty white girl. That genocide is okay!

            Anonymous

lol damn not the white girls specifically a red head made to be genocided she had no chance.

also yeah, really I said this last thread they really made the villainous race helpless and one sided I'll just recap it

            >Adding further onto this why was the war still on going if the number of mermaids was meager and the queen literally was powerless and they were in hiding. I meme'd on this in my greentext about kraken's secretly being genociders but I mean it's not a war if you have 4wmd and destroyed the opponents only one and crippled their population and culture and now they literally live in fear and hiding of you. It even seems to be implied why humans like mermaids is, because they can't live in the sea like the krakens. so they live amongst humans because they know they'll be killed if they try to live in the sea. like really how are you at war they aren't a threat.

Movies these days are so expensive in terms of budget they HAVE to be a hit or they won't break even at all

It has a small fandom plus a large cult following. Loads of people on dreamworks socials still asking every day. It made number 3 on netflix movies when it was put on and made more money plus merch sales than other shit they revived or are continuing. Its done so much better than more recent and fricking moronic originals/sequels like picrel, turbo, home, megamind, abominable, trolls 2, boss baby 2, captain underpants etc. Also did better than bad guys. Some people have wanted the sequel since 2006. The comic is still going, can even use ideas from that. It actually had a sequel planned. The ceo at the time scrapped it in favor of shrek and Madagascar.

    >release first trailer
    >people start gravitating around Ruby and Chelsea
    >people start shipping them
    >marketing notices it and start teasing said ship, even if it's clear Ruby will end with the ugly humanoid
    >Chelby shipping fanart increases
    >movie get released
    >Chelsea is an adult grooming Ruby, a teenager

Marketing team knew that and decided to go for it anyways, it makes sense as no ones cares about this movie but just the Chelby ship.
This will age so poorly, i'd love the shitshow incoming.

I once published a book with a very obvious romantic tension between two minor characters just to reveal they were cousins in a later book. The butthurt was glorious.

i feel the marketing team like most marketing teams(used to work for one). They don't always get told everything and marketing teams are more strategic and follow numbers rather than creativity so you see a potential ship is happening you push it for more sales which will get you more revenue. They probably were told the same basic summary as we all were or were going off the trailer, so the reveal of you know what came out of left field for them as well.

But yeah it will be a shit show I hope dreamwork just says frick it sense no one really cares outside the ship and says they retcon it to be the more normal outcome also adds potential for the obvious sequel they want.

Every single plot twist was put into the trailer no. 1 and all subsequent ones. I was able to predict the age gap thing with my room temp IQ, which means that all the morons who missed it are goddamn amoebas.

          >I was able to predict the age gap thing with my room temp IQ, which means that all the morons who missed it are goddamn amoebas.
Most people noticed the "you're just a teenager"(or whatever it was) line in the first trailer, you're not a genius for noticing it. Those people however assumed the writers of this movie can't be THAT moronic that the implied plot of the movie is really that bad and thus hoped/thought the trailer was misleading. In other words, the only stupid thing people did was that they had some slight hope in mankind.

well the thing is you as a marketing person would hope they aren't stupid enough to ok you to spoil the whole damn movie. Also sometimes they leave you with tons of clips and pieces in no real order and will be like just release these. It's the real reason most movies have such shitty trailers that spoil everything because theirs a huge ass disconnect between the creators and marketing, marketing is usually only talking with the company so it's basically a long game of telephone. I remember once at my old job we did that unintentional a few times because the people know less and less as it goes up the chain and a outside marketing team knows jack shit and we got 100 projects so we don't try to figure out the story just take what were given and do our best or what they tell us.

          >I was able to predict the age gap thing with my room temp IQ, which means that all the morons who missed it are goddamn amoebas.

yeah me having hope was my biggest flaw I really let myself think no way they'd just keep frickin up. But as I said above I should have known better I know how often marketing teams really don't even realize how much their spoiling.

How long will we have to wait until Redmoa gets his hands on some decent models of these characters? I’d imagine he could get a lot of mileage out of tentacle play.

whoever that is will most likely make their own models, especially with how the characters are designed in the movie. But also with how horny the fandom is probably about a week or two after the movie drops the 3d assets will as well.

Teenage Kraken isn't about lesbians but a wholesome heterosexual couple like literally every single animated movie that has been released so far. Although there is a background lesbian couple. Honestly that might be the reason the movie is flopping. If you are gonna make a normal heterosexual movie then do it from beginning to end. Don't add random LGTBQ shit. Just look at Spiderverse, shit is so heterosexual that on top of having the main romance, pregnancies, strong family themes, implied hetero NTR, and metrosexual spidey with a gf, every single background couple is straight. Not a single homosexual on sight.
