Despite being one of their most prominent franchises, on top of them having a 6-film story in mind for a long time, they just jumped into making this movie without any actual direction or plan. They were literally planning to do live action humans in their own city in this movie.
So really what it sounds like is they planned 6 movies just because "woah what if we made a 6-film story?!" but have been winging it since 3 ended their most easy outs.
It was fine, it's just that the story was half-baked due to problems in production. They had a good idea, but since there was tons of back and forth between the writers, they ultimately decided to make a goofy, fun, simple movie just to get it finished.
i would've like a pass the mantle if it was to Tigress >Po doesn't thinking he's done much in terms of spiritual teachings get shown how much he affects the furious five for the better, concluding with Tigress realizing what Po realized in the first movie
In general mankind has NEVER liked stories about passing the mantle. It's only worse now because they always pass the mantle to a shitty weak trash Female Character. But even centuries ago humans don't like stories that go like this....
Hey remember your main hero? He is wrinkled, shriveled, and OLD. He's getting replaced by this young upcoming dude.
Humans in general don't like this. And if you want to see a modern example of a famous property that rejects passing the mantle simply check out how Batman gets rebooted as often as possible to STOP Bruce from losing the title of Batman because no one wants his four apprentices to inherit the title. You can scream Terry all you like but Batman Beyond has been rebooted away which is what I mean. Anything must be done to KEEP Bruce as Batman. So I reiterate humans don't like passing the mantle type stories. So I'm not surprised kung fu Panda 4 is getting criticized for this.
Studio meddling. This information is public. The writer or director wanted a lot of other actual good ideas but they were all shot down for no reason. So instead you get this movie that makes no sense & wastes all it's cameos for out of character or outright silent moments.
The only thing that matters is the final cut of the movie and the final cut is garbage. Don't defend garbage. The brand power of this series deserves to go down.
You have a good point, the only time a "passing the torch" story ever really worked was Wally West as the Flash. And even that was eventually undone, for better or worse.

Literally only insulted it.
It's funny how obvious all the stuff that the co-director suggested was: >proper Tai Lung arc >actual backstory for the villain >don't have your hero stuck in a box for 20 minutes
The inmates really are running the asylum in Hollywood nowadays.
Yeah I don't know why Dreamworks got so fricking moronic & picky about things in one of their biggest franchises that's already proven to be a huge money maker. It's not like any of those things were huge risks either. I think part of it has a lot to do with wasting all their money on Wild Robot with a cast of random celebrities for voices.
wild robot look like crap, its a robot in the woods that make friends with animal but onose the evil people are going destroy the woods, the robot fight them with animal friends and stay in the wood rusting away. nature good man bad
Yes. But they're wasting all their efforts on that instead of something that was already proven profitable. Dreamworks's thinking is completely backwards.
A good step forward for that trope would be to stop introducing brand new characters for it, and let it be someone you're already familiar with or alluded to. But that wouldn't fit the "spur of the moment celebrity casting" these films have to follow. That said I heard this wasn't technically a passing the mantle story and that Zhen doesn't take over but then I check wikipedia and >At the Valley of Peace, Po chooses Zhen as his successor, much to Shifu's annoyance. Confident of his choice, Po and the Furious Five help train Zhen to become the next Dragon Warrior.
so frick all.
Cars 3 was moronic about this too because McQueen started the race and the b***h who was supposed to train him didn't take it seriously, got called out, then cried for sympathy and got to take over and win the race. How does that even work?
Whatever. Stop having your male heroes pass the mantle to quirky moron girls.
>stop introducing brand new characters
This is a major bone I have to pick with a lot of media. Rather than develop any of their existing characters, they keep introducing ten-million new ones.
So now we have like 4 Flashes, a dozen Green Lanterns, 4 Robins, two Dragon Warriors, etc. and they're all totally underdeveloped.

I feel like they should've at least waited until movie 5 for Po to be replaced as a dragon warrior. It just feels too fast. Then have one big last movie (their six-film idea) that naturally resolves with him ascending and fully passing the torch, or him ascending in 5 and whatever big finale that incorporates new DW and ascended Po being involved into one last plot.
Also I hate the idea that we're stuck with Awkwafina for 2 more movies if somehow they do manage to keep going despite the middling reception. Like if I actually wanted more KFP that is inherently something that now has to come with it.
You'll enjoy fox Poochie whethere you like it or not!
>Dragon warrior? The guy who literally mastered all of kung fu in a year and saved china? >Never heard of him. Now Zhen, that’s somebody who is well known and respected

Not like it matters. Everyone is obsessed with middle picture anyway. Even people who complain about it jerk off to it and make threads about how hot it is. If there's a single line of dialogue or a scowl in the direction of the male character, multiple OP threads will be posted from some emasculated waifugay. I'm sure one of you homosexuals remember the female youtuber dominatrix AI art thread. Or the recent thread with the little white guy and the huge dominant black woman standing in front of him as he quakes in his underwear. Or any short guy tall woman thread.
This shit keeps happening because no one other than strawman political morons say anything against it. People here jerk off to it and people elsewhere talk about how great it is for women. I bet you posted that image because you thought it was hot too. That's all this shit ever fricking is. Constant, everywhere.
It's so fricking bizarre that this movie is hyping itself up about Chameleon summoning "all of Po's old enemies!" even though that list is only three people long. These films keep acting like Po's been on all these crazy adventures even though he really hasn't.
he had plenty of them in the shows, but theyre not canon

I mean, none of it sounds all that interesting. >passing the torch after just 3 movies >no F5 >plucky female thief sidekick >another dumb magic villain
There's a reason that the only thing anyone was hyped for was Tai Lung, and he's only in it for 5 minutes.
Only the first movie is about kung-fu, honestly. KFP2 has some good fight scenes and Shen has a cool fighting-style, but the later ones are all about magic crap.
They never really managed to surpass any of the Tai Lung fights from the OG movie.
My favorite part was how they completely gave up on giving the Furious 5 personalities and just gave them a cameo at the tailend of the movie.
I saw more personality given to them in fanfictions than I did in any canon work.
Didn't they somehow manage to not flesh them out at all during the entire Legends of Awesomeness series? I know that the other two shows were focused on dumb shit like English knights and panda kids, but LOA somehow managed to avoid fleshing out the characters it was focused on. That's impressively bad.

TLDR; Watching this didn't feel like KFP4, it felt a direct to DVD movie or a Netflix TV show.
One of the things that make the KFP movies so good where the villains. Each one felt intriguing, like a integral part of the story and history tying them to Po and the others. Tai Lung was Master Shifu former student and contender for dragon warrior. Lord Shen was the cause of Po being orphaned and eventually meeting the F5. General Kai was the former brother-in-arms with Oogway and is seeking revenge.
With "The Chameleon" there's nothing, the character felt shoehorned in. Like they needed a villain of the week for Po and friend to defeat. Her evil deeds where all told not shown, not even a flashback. She doesn't even have a proper name.
It also doesn't help when the character is almost a ripoff of the other two past villains: Person seeking to rule the world, fails to get power with kung fu, raises a army of minions and obtains power using magic, steals kung fu power from other masters.
Replace magic with gunpowder and you have Lord Shen, and stealing kung fu with magic is literally what General Kai did. Even her argument of being turned away from all Kung fu schools cause she was too small falls flat when you have Viper and Mantis.
The writers and the director.

It was made by an unfunny dude who thinks he's funny and doesn't care about story and characters
>>I am liittle lizard no bully plz, I am just going to suck your power out
it was not a well through movie
KFP2 is wack. Very wack.
No one asked for another "pass the mantle" story.
it could have work if the story was more show not tell
Yeah, chamel saying about being too smol to be trained felt undercooked. this franchise ended on a low note.
i would've like a pass the mantle if it was to Tigress

that not true on this movie
yet
>Dragon warrior? The guy who literally mastered all of kung fu in a year and saved china?
>Never heard of him. Now Zhen, that’s somebody who is well known and respected
well know because she steal, dragon warrior from the valley of peace in the middle of nowhere on a mountain.

I am hoping her dragon warrior training will look like this
shes's skinny
Especially when Po has just got the title he's only been dragon warrior for a little while. It was way to fricking early for him to pass the mantle.
but fox booty
hey baggy pants hide her booty though
he had plenty of them in the shows, but theyre not canon
>5 days till digital release
>we'll never see Taotie, Fenghuang, or Ke-pa canon
I hate it here.
It's so fricking bizarre that this movie is hyping itself up about Chameleon summoning "all of Po's old enemies!" even though that list is only three people long. These films keep acting like Po's been on all these crazy adventures even though he really hasn't.
i keep forgetting she was really tiny in the movie
I mean, none of it sounds all that interesting.

Should've been a Tai Lung redemption movie, honestly.
https://rule34.xxx/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=9868387 ithink he too busy
LOL. He didn't get a lot of screentime, but he got a nice scaly cumsock as a consolation prize.
Ew warn me next time. I thought it was gonna be gay tai lung porn
The pacing of the movie was fricked and the Villain was weak both in character and threat level.
Only the first movie feels polished

PO should have bee older and have the same vibes as his masters but he is still a baffoon.
I feel like they should've at least waited until movie 5 for Po to be replaced as a dragon warrior. It just feels too fast. is chameleon low-key trans?
Yes, she trans-forms all the time
shortstacks design
oops did not see them nips
Inconsistencies with Po's character development other than that it was a better movie than cars 3
I think it deserves a 7/10 just for the hot lizard lady
>Dragon Warrior is just s title
>Give you visions, thick skull and ability to punch through thick stone floor
to the punishment hole
Shit bait
The movie was alright, but the behind the scenes shit implies it could have been so much worse.
