If he was a bit younger and was in Goldeneye, would've been great. Already my favorite Bond movie

I don't mind Pierce but it's funny to me how his best movie was written for Dalton. Go read the original, darker and more hard-R script for Goldeneye. It's readily available. Great opening scene, villain dynamic and Xenia was even more hardcore. I prefer Dalton and I'm glad he got chosen over Pierce. This is him screen testing for TLD. Thoughts?

I think the opening ot Goldeneye is already the best in the series but super interested to read hte script for Dalton. Also think Brosnan wouldn't have been able to do as well in TLD

          Anonymous

TLD was more laid back than LTK, so I'd bet he could do it well but LTK was Dalton's magnum opus as Bond. He'd absolutely fall on his head trying to do that movie.

LTK isn’t a Bond movie. John Gardner’s Bond books suck. Just a Scarface knockoff.

This just proves to me they should go for more Gardner because I've read a bunch of his books and they have some fantastic ideas for movies. Or by other authors. Double Shot by Benson would be a sweet flick if adapted. LTK is easily the best Bond movie by plot and writing. I'd imagine they should go for Gardner/Benson than harp on Fleming again.

Property of a Lady is quite different from Goldeneye, there are just some shared elements. Would have been kino though as long as Dench's awful M was not involved.

Not even. You’ve clearly never read Bobd book. Fleming’s Bond is ridiculous almost garbage. He falls in love with practically every woman. Is emotional as frick. Plots pure cartoon level. Dr No director Terrence Young is one made Bond a cool, cold blooded spy. Fleming hated Connory because thought he was too much of thug. Than he loved him as Bond and made Bond part Scottish

Connory never worn a suit in his wife prior to Bond. And why young cast him. He wanted Bond to be a wolf in a suit. Not a pretty boy like Carey Grant some posh Brit which is what Fleming wanted

But..... that's Dalton's Bond to a tee, there's moments ripped out of the books with him no other Bond has. Given your usage of words and wonky synthax, I'd wager you're not the sharpest tool in the shed.

No, this is actually true. Dalton had the best movies. Grounded but also heightened, emotional but not dreary, serious yet adventurous. His movies had it all. For me, Bond ended with him. Brosnan and Craig are non-canon.

            Anonymous

No difference between Dalton and Craig. Same “grounded” “respect women” bullshit.” Want a grounded Bond where a Bond acts like Bond watch From Russia With Love

But both don't though. I guess I'll give that to Craig. He dresses Vesper down, fricks Fields and doesn't really care he got her killed, gets Severine killed and makes a joke and fricks her after she tells him she was a sex slave, fricks a widow of a man he killed. Dalton undressed a woman to use as bait, told Pam to dress decently and ignored her most of the movie. Neither of them are such beta cucks as you state them, my opinion of Craig's 'Bond' notwithstanding.

Daniel Craig has to be the worst miscast in movie history considering the importance of the role. He's about as far from James Bond as you can, just a step below black or woman. It's truly infuriating he held the role for so long.

        No.

Royale, Skyfall and even parts of Quantum were some of the best Bond to date. The fact Spectre and NTTD sucked ass is an unfortunate consequence of the Marvelization of cinema.

In the sense that Craig was to be the grimdark Bond they trial ballooned with Dalton then yes. But to that they started to add crybaby self hating Bond and taking “we’re not so different you and I” villains seriously (because le grey area moral conflict). Add some family drama business and an entirely unwarranted death to that mess and it pretty much permanently fricked the continuity.

I have no idea what they intend to do bringing it back again. Bond can’t be a ladies man, grimdark was done, comedy Bond would be out of place in current year. What the frick do you do?

Semi related but Slow Horses is probably the best not-Bond we’re gonna get.

        Anonymous

This is why the last good Craig Bond was Skyfall. The villain was somewhat passable. The thing with all of the initial Craig Bond villains starting from Le Chiffre, to the water guy and ending in Silva is that they're all very much real people. Le Chiffre had to do with organized crime profiting off of selling guns to terrorists in the 2000s. Silva was basically Edward Snowden.

With Spectre and NTTD you literally have Marvel villains whose main motivation is 'hey, remember the name Blofeld from the real old Bond flicks? He's here and he's here to make Bond suffer!'. Its a shit attempt at making a Bond Thanos. They even give nu-Blofeld a secret lair but they forgot to give him some actual motivations that aren't contrived.
        >he's Bond's secret brother and is behind all previous villains
        Cringe Maximus.

Connery in DN and FRWL was just as book-accurat, possibly moreso since he was actually allowed to be sexist. But Dalton definitely nailed the world-weariness of the literary character which is something that Connery didn't.

NTA but Fleming s first choice has been subject of debate for a long time now. In all likelihood, it was Richard Todd.
I think he might've been pretty good if not better than Connery, who ended up injecting a lot of himself in Bond.
