The viewer.
OP here, I'm trans btw if that matters
So basically what you're saying is that transpeople don't have pretentious taste in movies?
Hipster culture. In the real world, no one gives a frick about these films
True, people in real life only watch capeshit
Based. Be proudly a moronic minority that nobody cares about. You're like a israelite.
At least capeshit is entertaining, and isn't that the whole point of movies?
>Capeshit
>Entertaining
Oxymoron
We get it, you're really cool because you like boring old movies where nothing happens.
(You)
You look at your phone every 5 minutes when you "watch" movies, don't you? Just about anyone who bothers watching capeshit is a complete midwit with sophomoric taste
>At least capeshit is entertaining
Underage or bate. Capeshit is tiresome soulless slop.
Film codes restricted a lot of shit back in the day. They're only really good for stuff like atmosphere
And writing.
>old = le good
>new = le bad
it's literally that simple
>Dude what if I made a post saying popular kinos are actually boring!? Would that make me heckin' quirky and unique!? Please give me upvotes, fellow Cinemaphileners!
So just like this board does all the time with anything new and popular?
>Popular
I've rarely met anybody that mentioned any of those films IRL except for citizen kane or raging bull. They aren't "popular kinos", nobody is rushing out to watch them, they're sadly boring
Why is russian classic cinema so boring?
These are classics according to the critics/cinephiles. They excel at things these people value such as writing, photography, acting, "meta-reference", pseudo-philosophy, editing, innovation
Compare it with a list of
>King Kong
>The Wizard of Oz
>Singin' in the Rain
>The Wages of Fear
>Psycho
>Taxi Driver
>The Exorcist
>Das Boot
>Suspiria
>Summer with Monika
Most people would recognize the greatness of these films because their easier to spot. Feels, you know.
>8.5
an overly self aware autobiography, only other filmmakers could possibly enjoy it
>breathless
the usual vapid french style over substance
>kane
overrated, only acclaimed for popularising filmmaking techniques
>casablanca
propaganda sure, but a compelling movie, not boring
>solaris
failed attempt at russian 2001:ASO
>manhattan
never seen it
>raging bull
not boring at all
>rosemarys baby
pretty good, not boring
>persona
overhyped abstract art for psychology students
movies only starting becoming watchable in the mid 80s
Skill issue. I can watch any movie from any year.
Unironic moronation: the post
t.
Pretentious arthouse hipster bullshit and I’m tired of people pretending this shit is even entertaining. If I have a stronger urge to be on my phone than watch your flick you failed as a film maker.
The only good classics are crime noir movies and Charlie Chaplin shit, everything else is boring.
I was always surprised at just how engaging Citizen Kane is. You might be able to make a case for the others, but that one isn't boring in the least.
I thought it was boring. You hear so much about this movie so when you finally watch it it's like some important artistic event. Then it turns out it's a pretty normal early 40s movie.
>it's a pretty normal early 40s movie
You're blind
>Persona
>masterpiece
ADHD
>my attention span is too short for anything that doesn't have a explosions or gunshot every 5 seconds
None of these are boring except Citizen Kane, you are a pleb
Of those 9 movies, I've only watched Casablanca, and it was some of the most exciting 100 minutes I've ever experienced watching any movie. If you think Casablanca is boring, then you suffer from severe ADHD.
>raging bull
>boring
If you're seriously saying that you didn't enjoy any one of those films then you're an absolute fricking philistine
you're just watching shitty movies, watch something good for a change
>Bridge on the River Kwai
Based. No doubt would filter OP considering its slow pace. gays like him will never be able to appreciate a slow burner. He prefers quippy colorful superheroes just as a mentally challenged person is amused by blowing bubbles with his own saliva.
millenials kino appreciation was already on the decline with their vidya games
now zoomers have been absolutely cooked by anime and algo scrolling
any "content" that isn't dazzling shapes and colors stimuli is "boring"
actual baby brains
the other issue is most young people these days are so pampered and insulated from the real world and 99% of lived experience so even universal and humanist subject matter and artistry of great works is just completely irrelevant to them hence boring. Citizen Kane might as well be a dry document on regulatory compliance for all it's relevancy to them
Kane is good.
