Would Shen really be "bad" for China?

Would Shen really be "bad" for China? Yeah he's a dick but he seems like he would be able to modernize China's industry with his cannons. He'd be able to prevent his country's stagnation with his anti-traditionalist mindset which could prevent the century of humiliation.
Just imagine if he was a real person; his story would be "prince who invented cannons gets killed by traditionalist monks who destroy all his weapons"

So all and all he'd be a pretty typical Chinese emperor.

Shen has zero morals. A goat made up some prophecy and he immediately killed men, women and children of a village that had no part in it. Cannons were a red-herring he would slaughter anybody who disagrees with him or has the potential to oppose him.

    >first computer generated movie in history directed only by a woman (a South Korean one in this case)
    >third Dreamworks movie with only 1 director, and unlike the previous 2 examples, this was an unexperienced director making her debut
    >zero involvement from directors of first film, who didn't come back for this sequel in any way (not even as executive producers or consultants)
    >no delays were made. It was slated for mid 2011 as soon as development started, and the release date never changed
    >Guillermo del Toro as a creative consultant
Easy to see why this sucked

          yeah you're right
it's hard to blame them though since the first one had many wacky funny scenes, kids would be bored out of their minds unless this was marketed as a serious animated movie on purpose (like prince of egypt)

First one had some restraint with the amount of comedy. Nevermind that it was comedy which actually worked.

Yuh Nelson is a hack. Glad she has directed only 3 films so far. It seems the last one from 2018 killed her career.

Maybe there's a reason why CG animation films directed solely by a woman are almost nonexistent. These are the only ones.

This could've been a good sequel if it wasn't for this director. Never once directed a film before, and she wasn't partnered with a co director. Her lack of experience is evident in the final product. The comedy, tone, pacing and fleshing out of the narrative are very off.

Are you the same person who shits on Shrek 2 whenever it gets brought up?

He didnt gave a shit about the people living in China, he just wanted rule China for power and while he would make a powerful China he would just be a full dictator

His cannons were just weapons to conquer China and rule with tyranny

    >gigantic, cumbersome, slow cannons that take several seconds (at best) to aim, light, fire, travel through the air and then explode are somehow the ultimate counter to kung fu masters who can move at super speed, backflip 20 feet in the air and catch dozens of fast moving objects out of the air with their hands like it was nothing
    >said kung fu masters have to conveniently forget they have legs and just stand there staring with their jaw dropped every time a cannon is pointed at them to make the story seem credible

    >"Long ago, in ancient China, the peawieners ruled over Gongmen City. They brought great joy and prosperity to the city, for they had invented fireworks. But their son, Lord Shen, saw darker power in the fireworks. What had brought color and joy could also bring darkness and destruction. Shen's troubled parents consulted a soothsayer. She foretold that if Shen continued down this dark path, he would be defeated by a warrior of black and white. The young lord set out to change his fate, but what he did next only sealed it. Shen returned to his parents full of pride, but in their faces, he only saw horror. He was banished from the city forever. But Shen swore revenge. Someday, he would return, and all of China would bow at his feet."

    >"My father's throne. He used to let me play here beside him, promising me someday this throne would be mine."

    >"30 years i waited for this moment"

    >"Young Shen was in line to rule Gongmen City. But he wanted more. I foretold that someone would stand in his way. A panda. But I never could have foretold what came next."
This is ALL we are told about the villain. And don't expect any information about those hundred of wolves loyal to him.

They didn't explore his psychology at all, or his motivation for wanting to use fireworks to bring destruction. As if they were afraid of making him sympathetic.
