Would Shen really be "bad" for China? Yeah he's a dick but he seems like he would be able to modernize China's industry with his cannons. He'd be able to prevent his country's stagnation with his anti-traditionalist mindset which could prevent the century of humiliation.
Just imagine if he was a real person; his story would be "prince who invented cannons gets killed by traditionalist monks who destroy all his weapons"
Nothing Ever Happens Shirt $21.68 |
God, why’s he so hot
he's a bird
Kino color scheme.
Gary old man
He would kill tens of millions on a whim.
So all and all he'd be a pretty typical Chinese emperor.
>Lord Shen takes power
>350 million perish
Frick this movie and those who defend it.
Shen has zero morals. A goat made up some prophecy and he immediately killed men, women and children of a village that had no part in it. Cannons were a red-herring he would slaughter anybody who disagrees with him or has the potential to oppose him.
>first computer generated movie in history directed only by a woman (a South Korean one in this case)
>third Dreamworks movie with only 1 director, and unlike the previous 2 examples, this was an unexperienced director making her debut
>zero involvement from directors of first film, who didn't come back for this sequel in any way (not even as executive producers or consultants)
>no delays were made. It was slated for mid 2011 as soon as development started, and the release date never changed
>Guillermo del Toro as a creative consultant
Easy to see why this sucked
2 was pretty good.
3 was where it went to shit.
Frick off
2 was good funkino
as if we needed another movie about animated jack black screaming in slow motion
the only bad thing about kung fu panda 2 is that this gay ass peawiener is not nearly as scary as tai lung
and that the omnipresent comedy is rather weak.
yeah you're right
it's hard to blame them though since the first one had many wacky funny scenes, kids would be bored out of their minds unless this was marketed as a serious animated movie on purpose (like prince of egypt)
First one had some restraint with the amount of comedy. Nevermind that it was comedy which actually worked.
Are you the same person who shits on Shrek 2 whenever it gets brought up?
Yuh Nelson is a hack. Glad she has directed only 3 films so far. It seems the last one from 2018 killed her career.
He didnt gave a shit about the people living in China, he just wanted rule China for power and while he would make a powerful China he would just be a full dictator
His cannons were just weapons to conquer China and rule with tyranny
>cannons
I think you mean weapons. The word "cannon" is never said in this film. They only say "weapon"
Oh yes, they're actually muskets
Fricking dumbass, just say cannons
>he would make a powerful China
>he would just be a full dictator
Where are the negatives?
>le dictator only cares about le power and not le people
eat a dick leftard
hasn't uncle ted taught you anything about the industrial revolution and its consequences?
3 is not only shit, it ruins the premise of the first 2 films.
I'd rather ignore 3 is a thing.
>gigantic, cumbersome, slow cannons that take several seconds (at best) to aim, light, fire, travel through the air and then explode are somehow the ultimate counter to kung fu masters who can move at super speed, backflip 20 feet in the air and catch dozens of fast moving objects out of the air with their hands like it was nothing
>said kung fu masters have to conveniently forget they have legs and just stand there staring with their jaw dropped every time a cannon is pointed at them to make the story seem credible
This is the only part of the movie that actually bothers me.
And the movie completely ignores reload aspect of these cannons
Thin screenplay. Very thin. Unfunny too. Feels like a hack-job.
Shen carried kung fu panda 2
>"Long ago, in ancient China, the peawieners ruled over Gongmen City. They brought great joy and prosperity to the city, for they had invented fireworks. But their son, Lord Shen, saw darker power in the fireworks. What had brought color and joy could also bring darkness and destruction. Shen's troubled parents consulted a soothsayer. She foretold that if Shen continued down this dark path, he would be defeated by a warrior of black and white. The young lord set out to change his fate, but what he did next only sealed it. Shen returned to his parents full of pride, but in their faces, he only saw horror. He was banished from the city forever. But Shen swore revenge. Someday, he would return, and all of China would bow at his feet."
>"My father's throne. He used to let me play here beside him, promising me someday this throne would be mine."
>"30 years i waited for this moment"
>"Young Shen was in line to rule Gongmen City. But he wanted more. I foretold that someone would stand in his way. A panda. But I never could have foretold what came next."
This is ALL we are told about the villain. And don't expect any information about those hundred of wolves loyal to him.
Okay,and?
and i think the script is average at best. I remember it pretty damn well, so i know what i'm saying.
What’s average about it?
Watch better films and you'll realize on your own. Hopefully.
Average film don’t depict the villain as distraught about familial rejection. He had dimension. Above average at least.
They didn't explore his psychology at all, or his motivation for wanting to use fireworks to bring destruction. As if they were afraid of making him sympathetic.
Dreamworks owes me 81 minutes of my life.
Way too many "bits intended to make the viewer crack a smile, chuckle, giggle or laugh" in this film. They got carried away with the humor quota.
Maybe there's a reason why CG animation films directed solely by a woman are almost nonexistent. These are the only ones.
He was an butthole, but he was Gary Oldman, so there.
>The Legend of Spyro (videogame trilogy)
>Call of Duty : World at War
>Planet 51 (2009 film)
>A Christmas Carol (motion capture adaptation)
>Call of Duty : Black Ops
>Kung Fu Panda 2
Gary Oldman sure did a lot of voice acting from 2006-2011
Who the hell approved those wolf designs?
I found that TV special which premiered in the gap between 1 and 2 to have better written comedy/interactions than 2
This could've been a good sequel if it wasn't for this director. Never once directed a film before, and she wasn't partnered with a co director. Her lack of experience is evident in the final product. The comedy, tone, pacing and fleshing out of the narrative are very off.
What would her fiscal policies have looked like, Cinemaphile?
The secondary villain played by Danny McBride was based, I liked how he refused to kill his own men.
I was too busy jerking off to Ruby Gillman to watch Kung Fu Panda 2-3.
